TOPIC: GOD'S CHOICE OF A LEADER.
SCRIPTURE: SO HE SENT FOR HIM [DAVID] AND HAD HIM BROUGHT IN. HE WAS GLOWING WITH HEALTH AND HAD A FINE APPEARANCE AND HANDSOME FEATURES. THEN THE LORD SAID, “RISE AND ANOINT HIM; THIS IS THE ONE .” SO SAMUEL TOOK THE HORN OF OIL AND ANOINTED HIM IN THE PRESENCE OF HIS BROTHERS, AND FROM THAT DAY ON THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD CAME POWERFULLY UPON DAVID. 1 Samuel 16:12-13

TODAY'S DIGEST: AN ANOINTED LEADER IS NOT ENTITLED LEADER"
✓ An anointed leader is chosen by God, not self-appointed or randomly assigned to a position by man.
✓ An anointed leader knows they are called by God, not driven by selfish ambition or the desire to be great. Greatness is reserved for servants of the Lord, who quietly give themselves to purposes greater than themselves. If I strive to be seen or selected for a role—I miss a chance to grow my faith while waiting on the will of God to unfold.
✓ Entitled leaders feel the need for a job title so they seem important( leaders with "emilokan_ my turn" mentality) —while anointed leaders esteem others as more important.

David was minding his own business—being faithful where he was (to his call to shepherd well)—when the Lord called him to shepherd His flock. God’s choice was probably a surprise to those who expected a “better” resume, but infinite wisdom knew the wisdom of selecting a servant with a love for God and a fiery heart to defend and lead God’s people. So Samuel—the man of God—followed the Lord’s leading by anointing David in front of his brothers. Because of their faith, submission and obedience—the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon God’s anointed.

“I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him. My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him” (Psalm 89:20-21).

✓ Are you in waiting mode for an opportunity you think is just right for you? Or are you looking and praying for just the right person to serve with you? In either situation be patient, prayerful and opened handed. Trust Jesus and wait on His best.
"Its better to be in a storm with Jesus asleep in the boat—than to be on the shore without Him". At any moment Christ can calm the chaos and bring clarity to the confusion—so pray against getting ahead of God. You bring the most glory to the Lord when your joy and contentment are found in Christ, not your circumstances.
PRAYER:Today, I pray for those you’ve called into ministry and into leadership to be leaders and teachers in your churches, communities,states and nations. Keep your call fresh in our hearts, renewing and refreshing our spirit for the work ahead. May we seek your counsel daily, seeking your wisdom and guidance as we give spiritual guidance to others. Fill us with patience, peace, and joy for the work, remembering you are with us even when the work is hard, for you are faithful to equip those who obey your call in Jesus Christ name Amen

TOPIC: PAINS, THE PRACTICAL STEPS TO YOUR GREATNESS.
SCRIPTURE: EXODUS 15:22-27
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:In my distress I called upon the Lord and cried unto my God; He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry came before Him, even unto His ears.( Psalms 18:6).

✓ In the journey of life to your greatness, you must have seen much suffering, pain, struggle, rejection, denial,loss, accusation, criticism, bitterness in your life and lives of those you serve.There is always that eternal question "WHY MUST THIS HAPPEN TO ME , MY FAMILY, BUSINESS, FRIENDS, OR THOSE INNOCENT PEOPLE THAT YOU DON'T KNOW?
But through God's word there is a better answer that God gives...
" NO PAIN, NO GAIN"
✓ In our today's scripture, we we discover how God saved the Israelites from slavery of Egyptian bo***ge and pointed to the way to the promised Land.But God did not lead them along the easiest route, instead directing them toward the desolate, forsaken path through the Sinai wasteland.God placed before them a pillar of cloud during the day and pillar of fire at night to let the Jewish people know who was leading them and that they were on the right path.
✓ On the very first stop(junction of life experience) was a place called " MARAH" , a place meaning "BITTER".At first thought, we may think that perhaps those folks had taken a wrong turn, but we realize it was God who had brought them to this place.
REFLECTION: WHY WOULD A LOVING GOD, WHO IS RESCUING HIS PEOPLE AND LEADING THEM OUT OF DANGER, ALLOW THEM TO EXPERIENCE SUCH A BITTER PLACE, WHICH HAD WATER, HOWEVER, THE WATER WAS TOO BITTER TO DRINK?
The Israelites' journey out of captivity was also a test of their faith.
TODAY'S DIGEST: "YOUR FAITH MUST BE TESTED BEFORE IT COULD BE TRUSTED "
✓ In verse 25 of today's our scripture , Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord pointed out a tree to him.He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.The Lord made a regulation and a ruling there , and there He tested them.
✓ We all know from our school years taking a test is not all that enjoyable.Yet by giving tests, the teacher has some idea of what we feel , think and understand about the particular subject.we learn from test and move on to more challenges and learning experinces.
Maybe that is the same way with God.
In time of needs who do you run or cry to?
What do hear or see?
Remember, Moses cried unto the Lord, that is prayer and the Lord shown him the tree...we received answers and solution whenever we pray to God with a sincere heart...

TOPIC: FORGIVING AND RELEASING PEOPLE FROM YOUR HEART.
SCRIPTURE:"For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.Mat.6:14-15".
√ Forgiveness is a choice,which does not only favour the person that is guilty but favours also the person who chooses to give.This is because when you are holding another person to ransom for whatever wrong the person has done to you, you are equally holding yourself.
√ Our enemy knows that when we chose to forgive, we are release from bo***ge .But his goal is to keep us in bo***ge.No wonder he attacks our capacity to forgive and receive forgiveness.He provokes us to indulge our grieviances and hold unto our bitterness.Recognizing this strategy of the enemy to keep you bound is the first step to your freedom.
REFLECTION: Unforgiveness is a major roadblock on the frontline.it is a major stronghold and an enemy to good relationship.
√ it is a weight that makes it difficult for you to travel light.it eats you up like cancer.it spreads from it's root to every part of the body.it does not just affect the inside of you, it eats up your whole body.T.D Jakes says, " the bo***ge of Unforgiveness and bitterness is perhaps one of the strongest bo***ges that have ever been seen in the lives of God's people.it is one of the most unchecked and unresolved issues in christian living.This is because it hides under reasons and covers itself up with excuses".But the consequences is that if you don't forgive those who offended or wronged you, your heavenly father will not forgive you and your prayers would be hindered.weigh your life on the scale of God, you will understand that there is must be offense and there must also be forgiveness..
"For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.James 3:2

JOHN THE BAPTIST HANDLED JEALOUSY RIGHTLY(JOHN 3:25-27).
(4) ANGER: ANGER IS A DESTRUCTIVE SPIRIT. THE BIBLE REGARDS A PERSON WHO IS EASILY ANGRY AS FOOLISH(ECCL.7:9).WORDS SPOKEN AND ACTIONS TAKEN IN ANGER, EVEN WITH SEEMINGLY GENUINE REASONS FOR ANGER ARE OFTEN DONE WITHOUT DEPTH OF THOUGHT AND COULD DERAIL GOD'S PLAN FOR MAN AND GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE (JAMES 1:20,PRO.1:4)
DO NOT ACCEPT ANGER OR BAD TEMPER AS YOUR NATURE(2 PET. 1:4).A CONTROLLABLE SPIRIT IS A MARK OF WISDOM (PRO. 16:32,19:11).
JESUS HAD EVERY REASON TO BE ANGRY BUT HE DID NOT(MAT.11:19,MARK 3:21,JOHN 7:20,18:30,MAT.26:67).
MAY THE HOLY SPIRIT HELP US TO DO AWAY WITH ALL THESE CHARACTERS IN JESUS CHRIST NAME.

MEMORY VERSE: ABSTAIN FROM EVERY FORM OF EVIL(1THESS.5:22)
AIMS (1) TO REMIND US TO DENY UNGODLINESS AND WORLDLY DESIRES AND TO LIVE SENSIBLE, RIGHTEOUSLY AND GODLY IN THIS PRESENT AGE(TITUS 2:12).
(2) TO CHALLENGE US TO DISCIPLINE OUR BODIES AND MAKE IT OUR SLAVES, SO THAT AFTER WE HAVE PREACHED TO OTHERS WE OURSELVES WILL NOT BE DISQUALIFIED (1 COR. 9:27).
(3) TO URGE US TO PROVE OURSELVES TO BE BLAMELESS AND INNOCENT CHILDREN OF GOD ABOVE REPROACH IN THE MIDST OF A CROOKED AND PERVERSE GENERATION, AMONG WHOM WE APPEAR AS LIGHT IN THE WORLD(PHIL.2:15).
INTRODUCTION : AS EVERY SOCIETY HAS ITS OWN SET-UP OF A GOVERNING RULES AND REGULATIONS, SO IT IS IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD. THE BIBLE, THE KINGDOM'S CONSTITUTION AND MANUAL, GIVES A CODE OF CONDUCT WHICH A CHRISTIAN IS TO WHOLLY IDENTIFY WITH. IN THIS STUDY, WE SHALL EXAMINE AND DISCUSS BIBLE ACCEPTED WAYS OF BEHAVIOUR CONCERNING THE FOLLOWING :
(I) MALICE: MALICE CAN BE DEFINED AS HAVING DESIRE TO HARM OTHERS OR ILL-WILL. TO THIS EFFECT, MALICE IS AN ABERRATION TO ANY CHILD OF GOD.THEREFORE, PUT IT AWAY(EPH.4:31-32),LAY IT ASIDE(1PET.2:1),PUT IT OFF(COL.3:8).RESTORE RELATIONSHIP IMMEDIATELY WITHIN ANYONE WITH WHOM YOU HAVE BEEN KEEPING MALICE WITH.

STRIFE LEADS TO UNCONTROLLABLE SITUATIONS (PRO. 17:14,26:17).IT IS AN HONOR FOR A MAN TO DESIST FROM STRIFE(PRO.20:3,TITUS 3:9)
CONCLUSION :THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS CHRIST SHOULD BE FOLLOWED, WHO DID NOTHING THROUGH STRIFE OF VAIN GLORY AND AT THE END OF HIS MINISTRY HERE ON EARTH, GOD HIGHLY EXALTED HIM AND GAVE HIM A NAME WHICH IS ABOVE EVERY OTHET NAME(PHIL.2:5-11).IF THE SPIRIT OF STRIFE IS STILL OPERATING IN YOU, THEN YOU ARE STILL CARNAL(1COR.3:3,6:6).THEREFORE, REBUKE IT AND CAST IT OUT OF YOUR LIFE..

LAST WEEK, WE SAW THE AIMS AND INTRODUCTORY PART OF THIS TOPIC.
TODAY WE SHALL BE CONSIDERING THE PASSION AND PRODUCT OF SELF-EXAMINATION. MAY GOD GUIDE YOU THROUGH AS WE STUDY TO IMPROVE AND GET MATURED IN HIM IN JESUS CHRIST NAME AMEN.
(1) THE PASSION OF SELF-EXAMINATION :A PERSON HAS TO BE WILLING TO ADMIT THAT HE/SHE IS NOT PERFECT EVEN THOUGH WE ARE TO FOLLOW A PERFECT EXAMPLE IN JESUS CHRIST. MANY PEOPLE TODAY HAVE TOO MUCH PRIDE TO ADMIT TO THEMSELVES THAT THEY HAVE PROBLEMS (1JOHN 1:8-10).
(2) THE PRODUCT OF SELF-EXAMINATION :BRETHREN, THERE IS A REASON FOR ONE TO EXAMINE WITHIN CONTINUALLY. THERE ARE FRUITS TO BE HARVESTED FROM SUCH AN ACT. THERE ARE MANY IN OUR FOLDS WHO HAVE FAILED TO EXAMINE THEMSELVES AS THEY RARELY EVER SEE THEMSELVES FOR WHO THEY ARE IN THE LIGHT OF GODS WORD. GODS WORD EXPOSES OUR FAULTS SO THAT WE CAN DEAL WITH THEM. SELF-EXAMINATION MUST PRODUCE A RESULT.THE DIFFICULT PART LIES IN WHETHER OR NOT WE ARE WILLING TO RESPOND WITH A GOOD AND HEART. IT WAS BECAUSE OF ISRAEL'S AND JUDAH'S REFUSAL TO EXAMINED THEMSELVES IN THE LIGHT OF THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD THAT THEY BOTH WERE TAKEN CAPTIVE. MOSES WARNED THEM OF COMPLACENCY (DEUT. 6:12).
CONCLUSION :A HOME IN HEAVEN AWAITS THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO LOOK TO THE PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY(JAMES 1:25).EVALUATE YOURSELF IN THE LIGHT OF THAT LAW AND MAKE THE PROPER APPLICATION TO YOUR LIFE. SELF-EXAMINATION IS ONE OF THE PRELIMINARY STEPS. THE SEED OF THE KINGDOM CAN ONLY GERMINATE IN THE PROPER SOIL. (LUKE 8:4-15).IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO ALLOW THAT SEED TO EMBED, GERMINATE AND TAKE ROOT WITHIN YOUR HEART, THEN, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, YOU WILL NEVER BE RIGHT WITH GOD....

(2) TO EVALUATE OURSELVES WHETHER WE ARE TOSSED TO AND FRO AND CARRIED ABOUT BY EVERY WIND OF DOCTRINE (EPH. 4:14)
(3) TO REMIND US THAT GOD'S WORD EXPOSES OUR INADEQUACIES AND TELL US WHO WE ARE (JAMES 1:23-24)
INTRODUCTION :IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE EXAMINE OURSELVES REGULARLY.SELF EXAMINATION CAN KEEP US FROM WANDERING FROM THE FAITH. KEEPING OURSELVES IN THE PROPER CHECK AND RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD TAKES EFFORT AND DILIGENCE(2PET.1:10).IT TAKES A PERSONAL AND INDIVIDUAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE MIND TO BE WHOLLY AS WE OUGHT TO BE(ROM.12:1-2),BECAUSE GOD WILL NOT PERFORM SUCH AN ACT FOR YOU. HIS WORD IS LIKE A MIRROR INTO OUR SOUL(JAMES 1:23-24).THEREFORE, MAKE PROPER APPLICATION IF WE WANT TO BE PLEASING UNTO HIM. GOD SO DESIRES THAT WE LOOK INTO OURSELVES. IT IS ONE THING FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO POINT OUT OUR INCONSISTENCIES BUT THINK ABOUT THE CHANGE THAT CAN COME BY A PERSON WHO IS WHO IS WILLING TO DEAL WITH HIS OWN INADEQUACIES WITHOUT HAVING SOMEONE ELSE EXPOSE THEM FOR YOU. THERE IS A GREAT PURPOSE IN BEING HONEST WITH ONESELF IN ORDER TO CORRRCT YOUR OWN FLAWS.
WE HAVE TO ALLOW GOD'S WORD TO SHAPE US AND MOULD US INTO WHAT WE NEED TO BE. IF WE PURPOSE IN OUR MIND TO CONTINUALLY EXAMINE OURSELVES, THEN,WE CAN BE KNOWN BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT WHERE WE STAND WITH OUR CREATOR.

INTRODUCTION : OVER THE AGES,GOD HAS SEARCHED AND HE IS STILL SEARCHING FOR PILLARS.
PILLARS CONNOTE DEPENDABILITY AND ABILITY TO BEAR THE BURDENS OF OTHERS AND THE CHARACTERISTICS OF PROVIDING SUPPORT TO PREVENT A FALL.
GOD IS THE PILLAR SUSTAINING THE EARTH AND ALL HE HAS MADE IN IT. GOD KNOWS THE VALUE OF A PILLAR BECAUSE HE IS ONE. HENCE, HE IS SEEKING FOR PILLARS TODAY (EZEK. 22:30).
THE TRUE PILLARS ARE THOSE WHO CAN PUT THEIR TIME, MONEY AND EVEN LIVES ON THE LINE TO ENSURE THAT OTHERS ARE SAVED AND ESTABLISHED AS CHRISTIANS.
CATERPILLARS COMPRISES ALL WHO INDULGE IN ACTS OF GOSSIPING, BACKBITING, STRIFE ETC, WHICH ARE CAPABLE OF CAUSING DIVISIONS, QUARREL AND DAMAGING THE BODY OF CHRIST.
CONCLUSION :AS YOU RESOLVE TO BE A PILLAR FROM TODAY, HANDLE ANYTHING CONTROVERSIAL WITH CARE AND WISDOM. PRAYERFULLY STAND IN THE GAP FOR OTHERS,SPEAK WORDS THAT EDIFY AND BUILD-UP OTHERS AND SUPPORT THE VISION THE LORD HAS GIVEN TO YOUR PASTOR AND OTHER LEADERS...

TEXT:ROM.12:9-21
INTRODUCTION :In addition to the grace and power of our lord Jesus Christ, keeping the body in check is the part we have to play in overcoming temptations.
The following are the reasons every Christian who are to reach heaven must keep the body in check.
(1) The first basic reason is for the lord's sake(Rom.13:13,mat.5:14-16)
(2) it is for the sake of the truth and of divine principle. But overcome evil with good (Rom. 12:21,12:9-10)
(3) For the sake of others (Rom. 14:21,1 Cor.10:31-33)
(4) For the sake of one's own eternal security (mat. 14:24-26,phil.3:8)
CONCLUSION : in order to maintain a healthy Christian relationship with the Lord and others and to reach heaven at last, personal discipline is a must and thus; keeping our body in check.

(2) TO URGE US TO REMOVE THE LOG/BEAM IN OUR EYES BEFORE REMOVING ANOTHER'S (MAT. 7:5)
(3)TO CHALLENGE US TO MEASURE OURSELVES ON GOD'S SCALE LEST WE FALL OUT OF HIS STANDARD.
INTRODUCTION : IN THIS LESSON, WE SHALL LOOK AT WHY WE NEED TO EXAMINE OURSELVES ALWAYS. MAY THE HOLY SPIRIT QUICKEN OUR UNDERSTANDING IN JESUS CHRIST NAME AMEN.
**WHY SHOULD WE EXAMINE OURSELVES? **
(A) TO ENSURE THAT WE MEASURE UP TO THE STANDARD OF GOD(1 COR. 11:28-30).
(B) FOR US TO JUDGE OURSELVES SO THAT WE SHOULD NOT BE JUDGED (1COR.11:31-32).
(C) SO THAT WE CAN RETURN TO GOD IF WE HAVE DRIFTED AWAY FROM HIM. IT WILL INDICATE TO US WHETHER WE NEED REVIVAL OR NOT(LAM.30:40,HOS.6:1)
(D) ALSO, TO HAVE ASSURANCE OF BEING IN FAITH(MAT.7:5,2 COR. 13:5).
(E) SO THAT WE ARE NOT GUILTY OF THE SAME OFFENCE OF WHICH WE ACCUSE PEOPLE(MAT.7:5).
CONCLUSION :SELF -EXAMINATION IS PROFITABLE. IT ENSURES THAT YOUR EYES REMAIN ON JESUS CHRIST AND HELPS YOU TO ARREST ANY TRACES OF BACKSLIDING BEFORE YOU GO FAR....
