Scriptural Scrutiny

1 John 4:1 NKJV
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

The Bible makes it clear that not all spiritual manifestations are from God, and it is the role of every believer to try every revelation before its assimilation.

The word "try" in this context means to judge. Paul in 1 Cor 14:29 said we should judge all prophetic utterances, it didn't categorise which one to judge and which one to leave.

Message translation of the thematic verse says - don’t believe everything you hear. Carefully weigh and examine what people tell you. Not everyone who talks about God comes from God.

Not everyone or every talk about God is from God.

Phil 4:8 AMP speaks about things to think about and every revelation must align - true, honorable, worthy of respect, right, confirmed by God’s word, pure, wholesome, lovely and brings peace, admirable and of good repute; excellent, worthy of praise.

Here are some basic tests you can apply;

1. Does it comply with, lead you to God's word?
2. Does it promote peace & love in the body of Christ?
3. Does it support character of Christ, living holy, obedience or it relaxes the need for these pursuit?
4. Does it lead you to pursue the truth?
5. Does it increase your faith in God or fear of the devil?
6. Who is the ultimate beneficiary of the revelation, the kingdom of God, the revelator or you?
7. Which consciousness is it driving in you, earthly focused but heavenly useless, heavenly focused but earthly useless or heavenly focused and earthly useful?

Ephesians 1:4 VOICE
God chose us to be in a relationship with Him even before He laid out plans for this world; He wanted us to LIVE HOLY LIVES CHARACTERISED BY LOVE, free from sin, and blameless before Him.

It does not matter whether the revelation is in your private space, from social media, from a prophet, or on the street, if it fails the scrutiny test, especially our call to love & holiness, jettison it while remaining loving, because such revelation will fail.

Faith: The Visible Made From The Invisible

Hebrews 11:3 AMP
By faith [that is, with an inherent trust and enduring confidence in the power, wisdom and goodness of God] we understand that the worlds (universe, ages) were framed and created [formed, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose] by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.

The wonders of the earth rotating about its axis and revolving around the sun are credible evidences that the invisble is the crucible of the visible. Apostle Paul described understanding as one of the attributes of faith.

While science spent years trying to gain the understanding of the cosmos, the scriptures laid many things bear through divine wisdom, sometimes thousands of years before scientific realisation.

Examples
Isaiah knew the earth was a circle but science found out much later (Isa 40:22)

The Bible spoke about water cycle but men discovered it later (Job 36:27-28)

The prophets saw cars and heavy traffic on the streets hundreds of years before one was put on the road (Nah 2:4)

Similay, the Bible spoke extensively about life after death, most men discover the truth close to exiting this world.

Think deeply about this, the Bible has said Jesus is the way of salvation, rescuing humanity from eternal damnation, you either discover it now by faith or discover it later with evidence or scientifically, but bear in mind that science has always lagged the scriptures.

You will surely discover, everyone will, but the question is, will it be too late? Lazarus discovered God while on earth but the rich man discovered the reality while in hell.

Every man will either be a Laxarus or the rich man in discovering Christ, there is no neutral position, no in-between.

Psalm 100:5 MEV
For the LORD is good; His mercy endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.

Today, I can testify that the God who made heavens, the earth, the constellations, and everything, whether visible or invisible, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Deliverer of Israel, the one who lifted and rescued David, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the God of the Apostles, the God of fathers of faith in this generation, He is my God, He is good and His mercy endures from one generation to another generation. I am a beneficiary.

Men may fade away but He is steadfast. Thank you Lord...

The Battlefield of The Mind In The Pursuit of The Promised Rest

Heb 4:12 TLB
For whatever God says to us is full of living power: it is sharper than the sharpest dagger, cutting swift and deep into our innermost thoughts and desires with all their parts, exposing us for what we really are.

1. There is a battlefield, both God and the devil are interested in the field. The battlefield exist because as God is searching to and fro the earth continuously for men whose hearts are perfect, completely, devoted, committed, towards Him, men whose hearts are in alignment with His promise and ability 2 Chr 16:9, the devil is also roaming the world doing same as satan - which means the adversary, the arch enemy of good, Job 1:7. 1 Pet5:8.

2. Location of the battlefield
The battlefield is not physical, it is not in flesh and blood, 2 Cor 10:3, it is not with demons and spiritual powers, the battlefield is in the mind (kardia) of man, where there is fight against strongholds, imaginations, thoughts, etc 2 Cor 10:4-5.

As far as the devil is concerned, what the scripture told us is that Jesus already defeated the devil Eph 1:20-23, we are not to fight the devil but to
- resist him, 1 Pet 5:8, Jas 4:7,
- stand against Eph 6:11,
- condemn Isa 54:17

2. The Two Kinds of Rest
God wants His kingdom to come to us so that we can rest from the predicament that sin has put man. He desired it so much that He made a promise about it, same way He promised the Israelites. The promised rest for believers manifests in two ways or kinds according to the scriptures, the first is Jesus’ promise to give us rest, this is similar to every Israelite that left Egypt, they were free forever from the bo***ge of Egypt (allegory of sin and death).

2a. The first rest at salvation comes with the acceptance of the work of salavation, when we come unto Jesus as our savior. Man’s spirit that was alienated from God then finds rest at salavation

Matt 11:28 MSG
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.

Salvation comes by believing with the heart (kardia) in Jesus and this act delivers rest to the soul as a result of the completed work of salvation.

Romans 10:10 KJVS
For with the heart (kardia) man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

2b. There is second rest that is the realm of living in the abundance made available in the kingdom, entering the first rest qualifies you for the second, however unlike the first that was handed over to you, you are an active participant in seeking or finding the second rest. Most believers stop at the first rest, they made Moses (others) and intermediary between then and God instead of seeking to know God by themselves like Caleb and Joshua while still recognizing the special place of Moses.

The second rest comes as you walk with the Lord,

Matt 11:29 MSG
Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.

The walk comes with the renewing of your mind with scriptures, believing His promises,

Ephesians 4:23
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

We were given precious promises so that after we have escaped (entered the first rest), we can the become partakers of the divine nature (second rest).

2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

3. The blindness and the disobedience
The devil aims to keep every man in the dark, before salvation, 2Cor 4:3-4 so that they don’t escape sin induced death.

The devil also aims to keep believer blind after salvation, 2 Pt 1:9, so that the believer doesn’t become a partaker of His divine nature, and he can remain unfruitful despite knowing about God, 2 Pt 1:8. Keep them in the wilderness despite the reality of the promise land.

4. Quality of the second rest
All of us want to live in the reality of the second rest, the same way all Israelites loved the sound of the promised land, Num 13:27 but they doubted the power of God to make it happen Num 13:28 and also loved to live without restraints, Exo 32:6 Amp

To become partakers of His divine nature is to live like God on the earth. The scriptures in Ps 82:6 said we are gods, and if you don’t live as gods, you will die like men.

Once you believe in Jesus, you have succeeded in winning the first battle of the mind, to win the second battle, you must renew your mind Rom 12:1-2 MSG and fill it with scriptures, the first thing Peter asked us to add to faith, our knowledge of Christ, 2 Pt1:5. He then broadly advised us to temper our mind, deal with your mind until it becomes God’s kind of mind and your life exhibits the fruit of the Spirit. Feed your mind with word daily, Jos 1:8. Heb 3:13 said we should exhort (parakaleō) one another daily - Thayer’s definition: to address, speak to, call to, call upon), which may be done in the way of exhortation, entreaty, comfort, instruction, etc.

5. Willingness and Obedience
The way to get into the rest is through willingness and obedience to His word - Isa 1:19, you see why it is important to study the word, you cannot be willing or obedient to what you don’t know.

Jesus said when we walk and work with Him, we set ourselves up to enjoying the unforced rhythms of grace, Matt 11:29. The Israelites that walked and worked with God were the only ones who enjoyed the fulfilment of the promise.

According to Heb 4:12, the promises of God in His word is continuously searching the heart of men for alignment with. The dimension of rest that you enjoy is the dimension that you are aligned with.

6. The dimension of rests
Rest from Christ cuts across;
- spirit - peace of God Phil 4:7
- soul - prosperity 3 Jhn 2
- body, physical - healing 1 Pt 2:24

If you hold the profession of faith, you will surely enter into rest.

Shalom!

Giving, Sacrifices, Preaching, Praying etc, Don’t Translate to Love

1 Cor 13:3 VOICE
I could give all that I have to feed the poor, I could surrender my body to be burned as a martyr, but if I do not live in love, I gain nothing by my selfless acts.

First of all, the love spoken about here is Agape, God's kind of love and for you to have it, you must start with having Christ.

It is the Holy Spirit of God who spreads the love of God in our hearts.

Rom 5:5 VOICE.... the Holy Spirit that was given to us has flooded our hearts with God's love.

For your acts of generosity not to be a waste, you need to start with Jesus in your heart, you need to be saved by accepting Jesus as your Lord. Then He, by His Spirit in you, will lead you into true and acceptable acts of generosity and many other good works.

Have you accepted Jesus?
Shalom!

1 Cor 2:2 TPT
For while I was with you I was determined to be consumed with one topic—Jesus, the crucified Messiah.

Jesus is the crucified Messiah.
He was crucified so that He may take my place.
He is Messiah so that He may save me.
He lost His life so that I can gain mine.

He rose from the dead so that I can also rise into new life.

I have accepted this new life that Christ gave me.

Have you accepted this gift of salvation?

Shalom!

Romans 15:29 VOICE
I’m sure that when I come to you I will come as a blessing and as one fully blessed by the Anointed One.

The essence of the good news is that it brings good news through the manifestation of the power of God. Every bearer of good news is a carrier of His power and licensed to perform signs and wonders in His name.

The Contagious Power of Obedience

One of the most profoundly prophetic books of the Bible is the book of Psalms, only one chapter of it (Ps 90) was credited to a prophet (Moses), while almost half of the book, (about 73 of the chapters - Ps 3–9, 11–32, 34–41, 51–65, 68–70, 86, 101, 103, 108–110, 122, 124, 131, 133, 138–145) with heavy and accurate prophetic insights were written by David, though he did not occupy the office of a traditional prophet.

Asaph, a levite and music director was credited with 12 (Ps 50, 73-83) and sons of Korah who were levites and musicians, were credited with 11 (Ps 42–49, 84-85, 87) Other writers are Solomon, 2 of the Psalms (72 & 127) and Ethan wrote Ps 89 and co-wrote 88 with sons of Korah. The remaining 49 were not credited to any one on particular, though you can see David’s personality in many of them.

Something broke loose in the spirit realm that can be linked to David's depth of worship. He established the ministry of worshipping with music in the temple, where himself was chief psalmist. His Worship experience was so strong that demons checked out of Saul every time he played his instrument.

He ocassionaly broke into the spirit realm and heard conversations in heaven -Ps 110:1 the LORD said unto my Lord... Ps 22:16 - the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet... and many other Psalms.

But it was not only David that had glimpse of heaven, his contemporaries did as well, a good example is Ps 50 by Asaph.

I focus on the influence of obedience, however the opposite is also true. The way David motivated others to flow in the prophetic by association, Saul motivated people to live contrary to God’s will, also by association.

When you select your relationships, you are also selecting your future, you cannot afford to be flippant about it.

You can choose to be the positive influence that will pull others into consecration to God's purpose, you can choose to be a life devoted to revealing Him to your generation and other generations to come afterwards.

Think about this, what kind of influence are you?

Shalom!
