THE HISTORY OF THE NIGERIA CHERUBIM & SERAPHIM SALVATION ARMY

EPISODE 1 — THE PROPHETIC BEGINNING

Every great institution has a story, and the history of the Nigeria Cherubim & Seraphim Salvation Army is a story of prophecy, vision, faith, sacrifice, discipline and service.

The journey can be traced to early 1967, when during a revival at a church in the Shillo, Agege area, a prophet openly declared that “Omo Ogun Igbala” — Soldiers of Salvation — were needed in the Church.

That declaration became a significant turning point.

Immediately after the service, people began enrolling. What started as a response to a prophetic declaration gradually developed into an organised movement of men and women committed to the service of God, evangelism, discipline, orderliness and unity.

Another prophetic account is associated with Prophet Olatunbosun, popularly known as “Last Paul,” a visionist, who gave a vision during a revival at Elbethel Church, Shillo, Agege, concerning the arrival of the Salvation Army of Christ. According to the historical account, the vision subsequently came to pass.

In those early days, the first Commander was described as a mobile man who moved from one church to another for evangelism.

The movement began to grow.

The pioneers began holding Friday vigils within the Agege territory, while the church held its traditional Saturday vigil. The Friday vigil attracted a significant crowd and became one of the early avenues through which the movement gained visibility.

What began as a prophetic call was gradually becoming an organised movement.

From prophecy came a people.
From the people came an organisation.
And from the organisation came a legacy.

The strength of the Universal Cherubim & Seraphim Salvation Army of Christ (UCSSAC) is not merely in its uniform, parade or appearance. It is in the training, discipline, professionalism and commitment of its members.

Each arm of the organisation is made up of individuals who are trained and equipped to understand their responsibilities and carry them out appropriately.

From administration to parading, from spiritual duties to traffic control, from media to medical support, every department has a role to play.

We believe that service requires preparation, leadership requires discipline, and responsibility requires professionalism.

Our members are expected to understand the difference between right and wrong, order and disorder, discipline and indiscipline, service and self-interest.

UCSSAC: OUR ARMS OF SERVICE

To effectively fulfil its responsibilities, the Universal Cherubim & Seraphim Salvation Army of Christ (UCSSAC) operates through different specialised arms.

Each arm has a distinct responsibility, yet they all work together toward one common goal: peace, orderliness, discipline, unity and effective service to God.

ARMS OF THE ORGANISATION

🔹 Administrative Arm
Responsible for coordination, documentation, planning and general administration.

🔹 Paradians
Responsible for parade formations, ceremonial duties, discipline and coordinated movements.

🔹 Bandsets
Providing musical support for processions, ceremonies and other official engagements.

🔹 Spiritual Wing
Supporting the spiritual dimension of the organisation and ensuring that our service remains centred on God.

🔹 Front Leaders
Taking leadership at the forefront of activities and ensuring proper coordination during gatherings and movements.

🔹 Traffic Wardens
Assisting with movement control, safety and orderly flow of people and vehicles during outdoor activities.

🔹 Publication & Media
Responsible for communication, documentation, publicity and media coverage of the organisation's activities.

🔹 Medical Team
Providing medical support and first-aid assistance where necessary during programmes and gatherings.

Every arm plays an important role in achieving the overall mission of UCSSAC.

Different arms, one organisation, one mission — Peace, Order and Unity.
