According to Your Faith

February 8, 2024
For let not that man [the man who wavers] think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
(James 1:7)
In Matthew chapter 9, two blind men were following Jesus as he left Jairus' house. They were crying and saying, "Thou son of David, have mercy on us!" Then Jesus asked the blind men a question.

He said, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?"

They said, "Yes, Lord." Did Jesus touch their eyes and say, "According to the faith of your church, so be it done unto you"? No, He didn't say that! Did He say, "According to My faith, the faith of the Son of God, so be it, because I sort of took a liking to you two blind fellows"?

No! Did He say, "According to the faith of Kenneth Hagin, so be it done unto you"? No, of course He didn't. Jesus said, "According to your faith, so be it done unto you" (Matt. 9:29).

You see, Jesus asked them a question: "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" Then Jesus uttered the great law of faith that determines in every one of our lives the extent and measure of our blessing: "According to your faith, so be it done unto you." And the Bible says that the two blind men's eyes were opened (Matt. 9:30).

What opened their eyes? Their faith. And you can have faith just like the two blind men. Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Confession
Faith is coming into my heart, into my spirit, into my inner man. Faith is coming because I'm hearing the Word of God.

By Faith

February 8, 2024
"The just shall live by faith" (Rom. 1:17).

The faith life is the most beautiful life in the world! It is the life God wants us to live, and the walk God wants us to walk (2 Cor. 5:7).

Let both your words and your actions agree. If you talk faith, you must walk faith - you must act faith. Your actions and your words must agree that you are a believer. It won't do any good to talk faith if you're not going to act faith. And if it were somehow possible to act faith without talking faith, that wouldn't do any good, either, because your words and your actions must agree.

Some people declare one minute, "I'm trusting God to meet my needs." Then, with the next breath, they say, "Well, it looks like I'm going to lose my car. I can't make the payments." One minute it sounds like they're talking faith, but in a few moments their actions prove otherwise.

Some even quote God's Word, saying, "I know the Lord said in Philippians 4:19, 'But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.' And I'm trusting Him to meet our needs - but it looks like we'll have to have the phone taken out. We can't pay the bill."

They mentally agreed to the truth of this scripture, but they didn't act as if it were so.

Start acting like God's Word is true.

Confession: I live by faith - faith in the Word of the Living God. I act like His Word is true.

God Is Working in You

February 7, 2024
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
(Phil. 2:13)
I remember the story of a man who had a malignant growth on the side of his face. It looked like a big purple eggplant, and had grown almost as big as his head. The doctors wouldn't touch it. They had done preliminary examinations, but said that he'd live longer if they left it alone.

The man had been in all kinds of healing meetings, because he believed in divine healing. Healing evangelists had laid hands on him; the pastor had anointed him with oil and prayed; many people had prayed.

Then one day the pastor said to me, "I noticed that the growth, though it was still there, began to shrivel. I could see that it was shriveling. The whole church could see it. Within a three-or four-month period, we saw that thing get smaller and smaller.

"Finally, the man came to church one day, and there wasn't a thing in the world wrong with his face. Every bit of that tumor was gone, and all the skin on his face looked like new baby skin!"

The pastor asked him what happened. He told the pastor that he had been reading his Bible and came to Philippians 2:13. Every morning when he looked in the mirror, he would put his hand on that growth and say, "God's working in that. Philippians 2:13 says that it's God that's at work within me, and He's not only working in my spirit - He's also working in my body."

He kept saying that for days and weeks. And after about three months, he saw that the growth was beginning to shrivel, and, eventually, it all just disappeared. Now God didn't single that fellow out to bless him. The man saw the Word, read the Word, and began to believe the Word for himself.

And he received what the Word said.

Confession
God is working in me both to will and to do of His good pleasure. It's the will of God that I be healed and made whole. That's the good pleasure of God.

Swinging Free

February 7, 2024
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might" (Eph. 6:10).

One day in 1932, 200 sailors were holding onto ropes attached to the dirigible, the USS Akron, as they attempted to moor the giant airship to a steel mast in San Diego.

Suddenly, however, the dirigible shot straight up into the air. Some of the men hung onto the lines and were swept up with the ship, soon falling to the ground. Several were killed. After all the rest had fallen, one man kept hanging on. He could be seen as the dirigible soared high in the sky. People were screaming and fainting. They knew this sailor couldn't hold on much longer, and any minute he might fall back to the earth and certain death.

But after an hour and forty-five minutes, when they were able to pull the dirigible back to its mooring, the sailor was still dangling from the airship. An ambulance was waiting to take him to the hospital, but he said he was all right.

People asked him how he had held on for so long. He told them he had found he had about four feet of rope, so, while holding on with one hand, he tied the rope around his waist with the other, and the rope held him. He had just been swinging free the whole time!

Many Christians are also trying to hold on and hold out, but instead they give out. Some even fall. But all we really need to do is to wrap ourselves in the promises of God and swing free like this sailor, enjoying the scenery!

Confession: I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. I am swinging free in His strength and in His power!

Only Believe

February 6, 2024
The following are two psalms the Holy Spirit gave me:

Fear and doubt -
The two tormenting twins of Satan
that have come down here to buffet you about.
Fear and doubt -
Weapons of the enemy
to unsettle your faith and cause you trouble
and worry and sickness too.
Fear and doubt come not from Heaven above,
but from Satan below.
Fear and doubt are not of God, as you well know.
But faith and love come from the Lord above.
Faith and love -
Walk in love and live by faith.
Shout above the turmoil. Shout above the doubt.
Shout above the fear. It is done! It is mine!
What God has promised, He's able to perform down here.

Fear not; only believe. Only believe.
Two little words - so simple and easy to receive.
"Only believe" is not enough for some who think they know.
Intellectuality said, "We must do something.
Yea, arise and work and strive and seek."
But "only believe" are the words that fell
from the lips of the Master for you to receive.
So receive His Words and only believe,
and find rest unto your spirit and soul and body too.
Only believe, for He every symptom will relieve.
Only believe, for He is your Healer, your Provider, and Friend.
Yea, only believe, for the Great Physician is at work within.

Confession

I resist fear and doubt. I will not waver in my faith, but will stand strong. I will believe and not doubt, for what God has promised, He is able also to perform.

Fear Not

February 5, 2024
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
(Mark 5:36)
In Matthew chapter 5, when Jesus crossed over the Sea of Galilee, He met Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue. Jairus said, "My little daughter lies at home sick; she's at the point of death. Come and lay Thy hand on her that she may be healed" (Mark 5:23).

Jairus believed that when Jesus laid His hands on the girl, she would be healed. So Jesus went with him to his house.

While they were on their way, someone from Jairus' house came to him and said, "Trouble the Master no longer. Your little daughter is already dead" (Mark 5:35).

In the face of such a tragedy, Jesus spoke the simplest, yet most profound statement to Jairus. Jesus said, "Fear not. Only believe" (v. 36). Jesus was a faith preacher! He was encouraging Jairus to believe, even under adverse circumstances. He was encouraging Jairus to have faith, to believe.

God never comes with a message of fear. You can read all through the Old Testament and the New Testament, and every time God sent an angel or a messenger from Heaven for anyone, the first thing the angel said was, "Don't be afraid." Well, what are you going to do if you're not going to fear? Only believe!

Confession
I will not fear. I will only believe.

I Can

February 5, 2024
"I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me" (Phil. 4:13).

Many years have come and gone since I cast my cares upon the Lord, and although I will confess that I've been sorely tempted, I have not worried. I have not fretted. I have not had the blues. I have not been discouraged, no matter what. (Some people said I didn't have enough sense to worry. But, thank God, I had too much Bible-sense to worry!)

Worry was the most difficult sin for me to give up. Worry is the greatest temptation you will ever face too. But you can resist it. And you must.

Your worst enemy is the flesh. The flesh and natural human reasoning would limit you to your own ability. You look at the circumstances, influences, problems, cares, tests, storms, and winds, and you say, "I can't."

The language of doubt, the flesh, the senses, and the devil is, "I can't. I don't have the ability, the opportunity, or the strength. I'm limited."

But the language of faith says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Confession: I can! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Individual Cases of Healing

February 4, 2024
And he [Jesus] said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
(Mark 5:34)
I encourage you to go through the four Gospels carefully and underline with a red pencil all the individual cases of healing. Or better yet, you could write them all down on a sheet of paper.

Some examples are the woman with the issue of blood, Jairus' daughter, the centurion who came on behalf of his servant, and the two blind men who followed Jesus. You'll find that there are 19 specific cases of healing mentioned.

You might think that there are a lot more, but Matthew, Mark, and Luke often recorded the same incident. For instance, Matthew, Mark, and Luke all recorded the healing of the woman with the issue of blood, but it was only one incident. They were all talking about the same thing.

After reading through the Gospels and writing down each incident of healing, you'll find that twelve out of the nineteen incidents speak of the faith of the individual. For instance, in Mark 5:34, Jesus said to the woman with the issue of blood, "Thy faith has made thee whole. Go in peace and be whole of thy plague."

Whose faith made her whole? It was her faith.

Confession
Since the people Jesus ministered to on the earth used their faith to receive healing, then I can use my faith to receive healing. And faith comes by hearing the Word of God. I attend to God's Word, and keep it before my eyes and my ears.

Worry

February 4, 2024
"Take no thought for your life" (Matt. 6:25).

Shortly after I was born again, I promised God, "I'll never doubt anything I read in Your Word. And I will put Your Word into practice."

Everything in the Word was a light and a blessing to me until I came to Matthew 6:25. I learned from a footnote that the Greek reads, "Do not be anxious about tomorrow."

Cross-references pointed out that God says, "Do not worry." But I was full of worry! Not only was I nearly dead with a heart condition; I was about to worry myself the rest of the way to the grave!

"Lord," I said, "if I have to live without worry, I can't be a Christian!" Suddenly everything in the Word seemed dark and fuzzy; I couldn't get any more light from the Word. My conscience smote me, because I was not practicing the Word.

Finally at 6 p.m. on July 4, 1933, I committed all my cares to the Lord. I said, "Lord, forgive me for worrying, for being full of anxieties, for fretting, for being discouraged, for having the blues, for feeling sorry for myself. I know You will forgive me because You said You would if I'd confess it. From this day on, because You have now forgiven me, I promise You the longest day I live, I will never worry again."

Confession: I do not worry about tomorrow. I have no worries, no cares. I've committed them to God. I never have the blues. I am never discouraged!

The Ministry of Jesus

February 3, 2024
And he [Jesus] could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
(Mark 6:5)
Many people are healed by a mutual faith - by their faith and the faith of whoever is ministering to them. Most people are healed by knowing and receiving for themselves what the Word of God says. You see, that's the way the majority of people were healed under the ministry of Jesus.

Some people say, "Oh, if only I could have been there when Jesus was on the earth, I would have been healed because everybody always got healed under His ministry, regardless of their faith."

A person who says that has never read the Bible very closely. Mark 6:5 in the Greek reads that Jesus could do no mighty work except lay His hands on a few sick people with minor ailments. Those are the only ones who got healed under the ministry of Jesus in His hometown of Nazareth.

Well, why didn't others get healed? Let's look at the next verse. "And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching" (Mark 6:6). The reason they failed to get healed was because of their unbelief.

So what did Jesus do? He went about their cities and villages teaching in their synagogues. He began to teach, because faith comes by hearing, and hearing the Word of God (Rom. 10:17).

Confession
I can be healed by simply knowing and receiving what the Word of God says - that healing belongs to me. I receive healing based on the Word of God.

Commitment

February 3, 2024
"Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass" (Ps. 37:5).

A marginal note in the King James Version reads, "Roll thy way upon the Lord." Cast. Commit. Roll. Just roll your cares, your burdens, your anxieties, your worries, upon God. Isn't that what the Word tells us to do?

But God won't take your cares away from you. Some people have asked me, "Please pray that the Lord will lighten this load I'm carrying." God won't do that. God tells you what to do about your burdens. And if you don't do something about them, nothing will be done.

"You" is the understood subject of today's text: You commit your way unto the Lord. You roll your way upon the Lord. You cast all your care upon Him.

Some people don't get an answer to their prayers because they're not praying in line with God's Word. They're not doing what God said to do about cares, anxieties, worries, and so forth. But it won't do any good to pray about your cares unless you do what God tells you to do about them.

You can do what God says to do!

Confession: I commit my way unto the Lord. I roll my way upon the Lord. I trust in Him. And He shall bring it to pass!

You Can Initiate Healing

February 2, 2024..with his [Jesus'] stripes we are healed.
(Isa. 53:5)
God wants you to be well. Some people say, "If God wants me well, why doesn't He heal me?" Well, according to the Bible, God wants everyone saved.

Then why aren't all saved? Because they have something to do with it. God has provided salvation for all, but they have a part to play in receiving it.

In the same way, when it comes to healing, we often want to leave it all up to God. Well, although God may initiate healings on His own some of the time, that's not the main way that God heals.

This is where a lot of people miss it: They know God initiates some things on His own, because they've seen Him do it, so they're waiting for Him to initiate something for them. Unfortunately, they might die while they're waiting.

But you can initiate healing yourself. You don't have to wait for God to initiate it; you can claim what belongs to you based on His Word.

Isaiah 53:4 says, "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows...." The original Hebrew says, "Surely He hath borne our sicknesses and carried our pains, yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted."

Verse 5 says, "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

Confession
I know what belongs to me. I claim what belongs to me based on the Word of God. Health and healing belong to me. Thank You, Father, for health and healing.
