𝗙𝗥. 𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗔𝗖 𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗜, 𝗚𝗿𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗

In the early hours of this day Sunday 15th January 2023, the Rectory ( Fathers’ House) of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kafin Koro was fiercely attacked and Rev. Fr Isaac Achi was shot dead and burnt beyond recognition while his assistant Fr Colins Omeh sustained severe bullet wounds.

Very Rev. Fr Isaac ACHI was a Senior Priest of the Catholic Diocese of Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. He was also Parish Priest of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kafin Koro in Niger State and the Dean of Kafin Koro Deanery.

The Church in Nigeria is under physical attack by the opposition. The Christian communities live in fear.

POPE FRANCIS APPOINT NEW BISHOP FOR WARRI DIOCESE.

The Holy Father Pope Francis, has appointed Rev. Fr. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, 62, a Professor of Biblical Theology and Languages and Rector of the Seminary of SS. Peter & Paul, Bodija, Ibadan, as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Warri, Nigeria.

Monsignor Ewherido takes over from Archbishop Augustine Akubeze (of Benin City) who served as Apostolic Administrator of Warri Diocese following the retirement of Bishop John Okeoghene Afareha since April 2022.

Congratulations to my Professor of Synoptic Gospels and Matthean Gospel. He actually made the understanding of the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) very easy for us his students and made us read all through three gospels with weekly quiz. A great professor and churchman.

May God grant the Bishop-Elect, Monsignor Ewherido, the graces necessary to carry out this new and high ecclesial responsibility as the shepherd of See of Warri.
