LOOKING BEYOND

*Genesis 13:14–16 — And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. *

*MESSAGE*
It is to the extent that you can see that you will rise in destiny. God taught our father Abraham insight by helping him see beyond physical circumstances and hold on to divine promises. Abraham did not stagger at God’s promise; he refused to doubt and inherited the promise through faith.

Before the Lord spoke to Abraham, Lot had separated from him. He removed every distraction. To look beyond and go far in destiny, distractions must be dealt with. Though it appeared that Abraham lost by Lot’s choice of land, God taught him to see beyond the desert terrain before him.
When God makes a promise, He has the ability to fulfill it regardless of unfavorable external conditions. His promises are “Yes,” meaning nothing can hinder their fulfillment—they are already settled with God.

We must consider those who have gone before us. Hebrews says we should follow those who through faith and patience inherit the promises (Hebrews 6:12). Only those with insight can exercise faith properly. Circumstances will pressure you to be hasty and doubtful, but as a believer, you must see beyond. Your circumstances should not define your destiny. See beyond, and you will go far in life.

*PRAYER*
> Lord, help me to see beyond every surrounding circumstance. Flood the eyes of my understanding with light.

A QUIET SPIRIT

*1 Kings 19:11–12 — And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.*

*MESSAGE*
In a world filled with noise, pressure, competition, and endless activity, believers must cultivate a quiet spirit to walk with God. By a quiet spirit, I mean a calm and settled mind that can discern spiritual realities. A calm mind is one that is trained, aligned, and responsive to the ways of the Lord.

If Prophet Elijah lacked discernment, he would not have recognized that God was not in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire, but in the still small voice. The more you train yourself to remain calm in spirit, the more you enjoy fellowship with the Holy Spirit. The truth many avoid is that inner calm is intentional—you must deliberately choose it.

God speaks continually, but are you calm enough to hear Him? Many have missed ideas and opportunities, not because they were unavailable, but due to spiritual unconsciousness and lack of discernment. Apostle Paul said that the Holy Spirit bears witness with our regenerated spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). This means our spirit is the primary channel through which the Holy Spirit communicates. If it is not trained to be quiet amid life’s noise, we will often miss God and His provisions.

A man of insight like Elijah must also be a man of focus and quietness. As Isaiah said, in quietness lies our strength (Isaiah 30:15). If you desire to go far in life and do more for God, you must bring your spirit into a place of quietness to discern Him accurately.

*PRAYER*
> Father, in the name of Jesus, I shut out every noise and voice in my heart that is not of You. I embrace Your peace. Help me to remain calm in spirit so I can hear You at all times.

TRUSTING GOD

*Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.*

*MESSAGE*
Trusting God in times like these requires a tough and strong mind, because there are many temptations that pressure people to compromise and ignore God. It is beginning to seem as though God’s ways are outdated and no longer fit into today’s lifestyle.

It is saddening that many believers do not know how to trust God with little things, regardless of their situations, let alone trust Him with greater things. The journey of faith requires consistency and total surrender to the Lord—resting on His Word and ability without alternatives.

God cannot give you much when you cannot trust Him with little. As much as God wants us to trust Him, our trust also marks us as people God can trust. This is a major issue in Christendom today: many complain that God has not answered their prayers, while they have grown weary and faint in faith. How can you receive what you gave up on halfway because you lacked patience and chose another option that seemed appealing?

For God to work in your life, you have a role to play—trusting Him completely, believing He alone can fix, solve, and do all things. Abraham became fully convinced that God was able to perform what He had promised (Romans 4:21). As you step into a new day, choose to trust God, and He will direct your path to where your answers are.
Those who truly walk with God are people determined to trust Him, knowing that He is a Father, Provider, and Sustainer who never fails.

*PRAYER*
> Father, help me to trust You consistently and wholeheartedly, without any iota of doubt. Amen.

BE FAITHFUL (2)

*Luke 16:10 — “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much; and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”*

*MESSAGE*
There was a time when industries and reputable companies trusted Christians so much that they recruited believers directly from churches because of the level of faithfulness they saw in them. Unfortunately, the situation has changed. This trust can only be restored when we return to truthful living.

Faithfulness makes you significant and unique; it gives you access, connections, speed, and support. To be faithful, according to our text, means to be trustworthy and reliable. It implies believing in something and not allowing anything to distract your focus, no matter how attractive it appears. It also means people can entrust their possessions to you with confidence.

A faithful steward will never be stranded, but an unjust steward is a true picture of lack. Faithfulness requires discipline. An unjust and untrustworthy person is already at a loss. Do not be deceived by what people seem to gain through unfaithful means; it is material gain at the expense of the soul. There is no glory in losing your soul for earthly things. Such a person is automatically under the influence of the devil, the father of lies.

Brethren, I urge you to be faithful—at work, in your career, business, ministry, academics, and every area you are privileged to function in. One of my professors in the seminary often said that failing honorably is better than passing unjustly. The Lord is calling and depending on faithful stewards.

*PRAYER*
> Father, please grant me the grace to be a faithful steward. Give me the grace to be faithful in little and teach me the discipline of faithfulness.

LOOK GOOD

*Genesis 39:6 (NKJV) — …Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.*

*MESSAGE*
Taking time to read Genesis 39 reveals that this statement was not casually inserted; it gave context to the passage. It explains why Potiphar’s wife took interest in Joseph. If he had been rough and unkempt, she likely would not have made any advances toward him.

Under no circumstances should you dress carelessly or appear unkempt. God created everything good and gave proper covering for beauty and glory. How much more you and I, created in His image. You cannot dress for glory and beauty without being intentional. Being intentional about your appearance is not ungodly or worldly. The emphasis is modesty, though modesty may vary from place to place.

Joseph was a slave, yet he was well kept. Being handsome in form and appearance suggests that he was neat, fit, and presentable. Christianity is not a call to being dirty or poorly dressed. God is not against matching colors, styles, or good grooming. Unfortunately, some expressions of African Christianity equate spirituality with untidiness. Neglecting personal hygiene is not a sign of fasting or prayer.

Dressing shabbily does not make one spiritual, just as dressing well does not make one worldly. God is pleased when His children look good. Jewelry is not demonic, neither are good haircuts or stylish clothing—just be modest. Do not place these things above God. Let them be disposable, but let God alone be indispensable.

*PRAYER*
> In the name of Jesus, I dress for glory and for beauty, and I apply modesty in all I do. Amen.

WHEN YOU OBEY (2)

*John 2:10 (NKJV) — And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”*

*MESSAGE*
A father in the faith once shared a personal testimony with me. The Holy Spirit instructed him to place a call to someone for a laptop, which he did reluctantly. As a result of his obedience, the man who gave him his own laptop was later given a brand-new laptop at his place of work—something very unusual. This is the key point: that man was not the only one who received a laptop; about four other colleagues also received one. They shared in the reward of someone else’s obedience.

Whenever a man obeys, the reward is always vast and goes beyond him alone. There is always a spillover to others. Elijah told the widow to prepare food for him first, and that single act of obedience sustained the widow, her child, and her household throughout the famine. God is never affected by disobedience; it does nothing to Him. However, disobedience imprisons your answers.

When the master tasted the wine, he experienced pure excellence. Imagine how many people that quantity of wine catered for at the party. If the servants had not obeyed, the story would have been different. It would have resulted in total embarrassment and shame for the couple and their families. The obedience of the servants saved the couple from shame, provided people with more and better wine, and caused the disciples to believe in the person and ministry of Jesus. Every step of obedience yields rewards that spill over to others.

*PRAYER*
> I receive fresh grace to continue in obedience. Nothing shall be too difficult for me to do as the Lord demands of me. Amen.

WHEN YOU OBEY

*John 2:7–8 (NKJV) — Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.*

*MESSAGE*
God’s instructions often look foolish when viewed by natural standards. It is even said that the wisdom of God is foolishness to men. Because of this, people often find it difficult to yield to God’s leading. It may not appeal to the senses, and as a result, they forfeit the blessing that should follow obedience.

God, in His wisdom, has conditioned the majority of His promises. This means that although they are meant for us, we are expected to fulfill certain requirements for them to be manifested in our lives. The requirement is simply obedience to God’s commands and instructions. Obedience is doing what God asks of you at every given time.

One of the most unintelligent-looking instructions in the New Testament was given at the wedding in Galilee. How do you explain the solution to a lack of wine being the fetching of water into pots? The most unreasonable thing for a man to do was exactly what Jesus required of those servants—fetching water into waterpots used for purification. The pots were not even meant for wine, yet the men obeyed without question.

The problem for many is not that God is not working, but that they have refused to acknowledge the pattern through which God works. They seem wiser than God, so they refuse to obey the simple instructions He gives. Life is not always about big acts of obedience, but the little ones you consistently obey. That is what shapes you. And the joy of it is that the one who obeys is always the first to enjoy the blessing.

*PRAYER*
> I repent of all my disobedience. I make a fresh commitment to obey the Lord and to obey Him promptly.

THE MEN YOU NEED

*John 2:3 (ESV) — “When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’”*

*MESSAGE*
The wedding at Cana of Galilee was the place where Jesus performed His first miracle, and that event has great lessons to help us in our pursuit of a purposeful life. Being able to see the principles hidden in that narrative will shed light on many dark areas of our lives.

It was an event going smoothly, with many people rejoicing with the couple and their families, until the unexpected happened. There is a way men think they have perfected their plans until there is a shortage in the middle of the event, just like when the wine finished at the height of the party. This is something that can leave a man confused and devastated. It would bring shame, so an urgent response was needed.

It was at this point that Jesus’ mother stepped in. She was not the wealthiest, nor was Jesus known for having money, yet they were the only ones who rose up to comfort the couple and their family by providing a solution. There may have been wealthy people at the party, but they could not bring a solution to the table. Others came only to celebrate when things were good, but they walked away when the event began to turn sour.

Knowing your men is a sure safety and a defense in life. It may be that you are focusing on the wrong people. Some people may be rich, yet they are not sent to you. It may be through the man you considered poor that you will be connected to your helper. No man is useless as long as he is God-sent. It took Jesus, who was not at the high table, to supernaturally turn shame into glory. As much as we need each other, you must have a clear understanding of who exactly you need so that your company will not be your downfall.

*PRAYER*
> Father, by the help of the Spirit of God, enhance my sensitivity so that I can easily discern my persons.

My primary assignment isn't to rub at your face how anointed I am. My primary assignment is to make you realise how anointed you are. I am to train you to come to the discovery of what you've got and how to maximize.

Am I anointed? Yes! Is the anointing needed even among you? A very fat YES! But the greatest joy is when I am not the only known to be anointed but, all of you wherever you are or go dispensing the anointing around.
