𝐋𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐂𝐘 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐆𝐎𝐃
𝟏. 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆: 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
𝟏 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟏:𝟏
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled…”
Knowing begins with information and revelation. You hear about God, learn His Word, and receive knowledge concerning His nature, character, and ways.
But knowledge alone does not necessarily produce intimacy. You can know about someone without truly knowing them.
𝟐. 𝐁𝐄𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆: 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Knowing must progress into beholding.
Beholding means that what you have heard and learned about God becomes something you intentionally look upon, practice, and experience.
It is putting yourself in the path of the truth you have received.
For example, if you know God as a God of prayer, you don't merely study prayer you become a person of prayer. If you know His Word, you begin to live by His Word.
𝟑. 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆: 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫
𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝟔:𝟏𝟏; 𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝟏𝟐:𝟐𝟐
There is a deeper dimension where your knowledge and application become personal encounters and experiences with God.
In Judges 6:11, Gideon encountered the angel of the LORD. Hebrews 12:22 speaks of coming to Mount Zion, the city of the living God.
A witness is someone who can testify concerning something they have encountered.
You move from:
“I have heard about God”
to “I have experienced His ways” and “I have encountered Him and can testify.”
𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆.
