- *TOPIC:* ISRAELITES' IDOLATRY AND MOSES' INTERCESSION (WHO'S ON THE LORD'S SIDE?)
- *TEXT: Exodus 32:25* "Moses saw that the PEOPLE WERE SIMPLY RUNNING WILD—AARON HAD LET THEM RUN WILD, disgracing themselves before their enemies.
26. He took up a position at the entrance to the camp and said, “Whoever is on God’s side, join me!” All the Levites stepped up.
27. He then told them, “God’s orders, the God of Israel: ‘Strap on your swords and go to work. Crisscross the camp from one end to the other: Kill brother, friend, neighbor.’”
28. The Levites carried out Moses’ orders. Three thousand of the people were killed that day.
- *THE MAIN IDEA:* Is To Note That God Calls His People To Choose Loyalty To Him Rather Than Compromise.
- *KEY TERMS:*
1. "Who is on the Lord's side?" (loyalty and commitment)
2. "Come to me" (response to God's call)
3. "Sons of Levi" (faithful remnant)
- *WHAT'S THE MESSAGE HERE?:*
1. *CALL TO COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY* (Amidst competing forces within and without for your loyalty, God calls us to be totally loyal to Him)
2. *CHOOSE BETWEEN GOD AND IDOLATRY* (Unfortunately, Aaron Assistant Pastor to Moses is given to idol worship by pressure according to him. A lot of Ministers and Christians have given themselves to IDOLATRY due to pressure of succeeding in ministry, climbing leadership positions, remaining relevant in leadership, pressure from life and Ministerial battles and competitions in ministry. Some are dragging other pastors and members into IT for their selfish gains. *WHO'S ON THE LORD'S SIDE?* IF YOU ARE THE ONE PLEASE DON'T JOIN THEM. JUDGEMENT IS COMING)
3. *LEVITES' RESPONSE IN FAITHFULNESS AND OBEDIENCE TO GOD'S CALL AMIDST APOSTASY AND NATIONAL POLLUTION.* You can be the only person to say NO, I am on the Lord's side.
4. *CONSEQUENTIAL JUDGMENT ON THE UNFAITHFUL* (Without mincing words, there's a reward for joining hands with to enthrone Godlessness, WICKEDNESS, IDOLATRY and pollution. Think about this when you are recruited.)
5. *REWARD FOR THE FAITHFULNESS* ("You are blessed". There's a blessing for those who will stand up for God, godliness and remain on the Lord's side.)
6. *LEADERSHIP FAILURE AND MISLEADING* - (This is very pathetic and true even in today's church. *AARON MADE THEM GREW, RAN, WENT WILD.*
Kai! May I not be the Aaron that lead the people to run wild.)
*LIFE APPLICATION*
1. Competing loyalties (Runaway from whatever is competing with your loyalty because it is seen as idolatry in our lives in the side of God)
2. Responding to God's call (we must respond to God in repentance, commitment and obedience)
3. Seek God's guidance (this should guide your choices despite the pressure)
4. Prioritize loyalty and obedience to God at all cost and you will be happy you DID.
5. Don't allow anyone to coerce you into taking the side that is not God's side.
*CONCLUSION:*
1. Choose loyalty, obedience and total commitment to God
2. Remember that whatever is competing with loyalty in your life is drifting away from your Maker.
3. There are consequences to your choices and actions.
4. God wants you to be on His side no matter the pressure.
