THE ORACLE OF GOD

To be respected in life and ministry, sometimes the names and tittles we call ourselves plays a major role

I have heard and seen ministers of the gospel calls themselves, The Oracle of God

Am not here to talk against what you call yourself please, I just want you to understand what the scripture says

The word " Oracle" was translated from the Greek word "logion" which means " Utterance " or " the word"

It occurs four times in the new testament books of the Bible

Acts 7:38 " .....who received the lively oracles to give unto us"

Rom 3:2 "Much every way, chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracle of God"

Heb 5:12".......which be the first principle of the oracles of God...."

All of these verse talks about the word of God, the utterance of God

It was only Peter's account that gives the notion that the word oracle could be used as a fearful tittle as it is been seen today

1 Peter 4:11 " If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God......."

This statement would have been, " If any man speak, let him speak the oracles of God And not as the oracle of God"

No other scriptures collaborated the inclusion of the word "as"

In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established, remember?

Beloved, you are not the oracle of God

You are not the word of God

Calling yourself "the oracle of God" doesn't make you more a son of God

Tittles have always been an African issue

But the scriptures are for explanations that the man of God may be fully furnished unto every good work

I rejoice with you and the work of God in your hands

Distraction is subtle, avoid it

I call you bless. Great Grace

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WRONG DOCTRINE AND THE ANTI-CHRIST

MONEY MAKING MACHINE (MMM)

There are many scriptures which have wrongly been interpreted to mean that if we give money to God, he will give it back to us in multiplied quantities. If you don’t give money to God, he won’t bless you and you shall remain poor. This is not to water down on giving but to give the right interpretation of the scriptures for us to have the right mindset in giving to God. One of such misinterpreted scriptures is *Luke 6: 38.*

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

Reading from verse 27, its talking about transactions or dealings among men under the law and not between God and men. It says whatever you do to men, they will do same to you. Let’s take from verses 37 and 38.

“Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” (KJV)

Here it says if you judge men, men will also judge you. If you condemn men, they will also condemn you. If you forgive men, they will also forgive you. The same treatment you give to men; you shall be treated. Whatever measure of treatment you give to men, it shall be measured unto you.

It is not describing the man in Christ or the character of God. In Christ, we forgive people even when they don’t forgive us. But natural men treat you the way you treat them. You see how poor bible interpretation has placed material prosperity to this verse. The “give” in this context is not about giving of money to God. It is about the treatment we give to men such us judgment, mercy, forgiveness or condemnation.

To have such mindset that I am giving money to God so that he will give back to me in multiplied quantity is immaturity in the knowledge of Christ. God gave you his best even when you had nothing to give, he gave us Christ when we were dead and had nothing to give. Do you think now that you are saved, he expects you to give something before he does something for you?

Romans 8: 32
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? (KJV)

So as ministers, we teach giving from honouring what God has done for us and not what we want to get from God. I give knowing that I am blessed not that I am giving for God to bless me. In giving, God is the initiator, we give because he has given to us. God does not wait for you to give before he gives. We forgive men because God forgave us in Christ.

Ephesians 4: 32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. (KJV)

We honour God with our substance or money because of what God has done for us in Christ. It is never the reverse, that we have to do something before God will react. God acts, we react to his goodness. Therefore, the right mindset we must have in giving our substance to God is to honour his work in Christ or as our response to his goodness, not the mindset of giving to God so that he will multiply it back to me in large quantities. God is not a money-making machine. Luke 6: 38, therefore, must be understood in the right context.

BEING FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT

Having looked at the promise of the indwelling of the spirit from the Old Testament books, the four gospels and the book of Acts, and how this was fulfilled at the new birth, it is trite to note how that this is a one-time occurrence. Thus, when a man gets saved, he is born again (of the spirit), he receives the spirit which now dwells IN him forever.

There are certain concepts that are then based on the fact that the spirit lives in the believer. One of such is “being filled with the spirit.”

Let us observe what this phrase implies:
It was used in the four gospels (that is even before the fulfillment of the promise of the spirit):

Luke 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
Vs 42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

Luke 1:67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

In both instances above (Elizabeth, and then Zacharias), an activity that was associated being filled with the Holy Ghost was “speaking”.

Let us proceed to examine some accounts in the book of Acts (recorded of when the promise of the spirit had been fulfilled)

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The first use of the term “filled with the Holy Ghost” in the book of Acts was about the events of the day of Pentecost. This involved the 120 disciples (which included the 12 apostles).

Observe that Peter’s explanation of what happened to those that were astonished began with Joel’s prophecy which was concerning prophecy. In other words, what was heard by those gathered was prophecy.

Note that verse 4 had said that they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance.

What then is the explanation for this?

The epistles (particularly 1st Corinthians 14) help us to understand the relation between tongues and prophecy.

1st Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

When a man speaks in tongues, no one understands him.

1st Corinthians 14:5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

In verse 4, he had showed how a man that speaks in tongues edifies himself, but he that prophesies edifies the church. By verse 5, he showed that he that prophesies is “greater” than he that speaks with tongues (having explained that he that prophesies edifies the church, but he that speaks with tongues edifies himself). This he explains with the term “except he interpret”. That is, prophecy would imply tongues and its interpretation that can be of edification to the hearers.

Applying this understanding to the narrative of Acts 2, what the audience heard, and from Peter’s explanation was “prophecy” (i.e. tongues and the interpretation)

So from Acts 2, being filled with the spirit had to do with speaking, utterance (in this case prophecy, i.e. tongues and interpretation).

Confession: “The spirit lives in me, therefore I can choose to be filled with the spirit; to supernatural utterances: to tongues, prophecy. I give myself always to these. I act on the word always!”

UNDERSTANDING THE OLD AND NEW COVENANTS IN CHRIST

Many people when asked what the New Testament is, often respond with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. That response is often a function of what the translators have done.

2nd Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine.

The phrase “given by inspiration of God’ is a little confusing as it doesn’t appear in the originals. It actually reads ‘all scripture is by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine…’

That phrase is a compound word in the Greek. All scripture is inspired of God. People say that the bible is the word of God. Yes and No.

Yes, in the context that God inspired the documentation of the bible.

At this juncture, it is important to point out that God is not responsible for all the statements that were made in the bible. It is true that God inspired the documentation but he is not responsible for all the statements made in the bible. God’s work in there is that he inspired the writers.

When Paul wrote this to Timothy, he was referring to the Old Testament books. What is known today as the New Testament were not yet put together at the time Paul wrote this letter. We can therefore say that the Old Testament is inspired of God. The word ‘scripture’ means writings. It means to write things down.

2nd Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

The word ‘holy’ refers to that which is sacred. Think for a minute about newspaper columns contributed by columnists. Those writings are not sacred.

Paul in that text doesn’t say that God wrote. If he had said that God wrote, there wouldn’t have been a need to use the word inspired shortly after. I do not inspire my own writings as inspiration must be external to the writer. The choice of words there means that we must pay attention.

The use of the word ‘inspiration’ in verse 16 therefore implies that I cannot be writing and still be the one giving the inspiration. The inspiration must be external to the writer. Inspired therefore means that someone caused me to write it.

The writing is inspired of God. Not everything that is written is inspired of God.

For instance, things that Satan said weren’t inspired by God. The writing of what Satan said is what is inspired for us so that we can read.

1st Corinthians 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and [that] no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost

As a result, you cannot claim inspiration to have said something contrary to the spirit of God.

The Old Testament is inspired of God and is profitable for doctrine. That means that it is profitable for teaching. This explains why every writer of the epistles wrote their doctrine from the Old Testament.

Reproof is the word "evidence". It is profitable for correction. It is profitable for instruction in righteousness. The writing of the Old Testament is inspired but not all the words are inspired.

Confession: I receive the inspiration of the scriptures as profitable for doctrine, to teach, to provide evidence, to correct to the end that I am perfected in Christ.
