A Sacred Moment of Transition, Growth, and Gratitude:
What an emotional and spiritually uplifting moment as the Calabar Nigeria Stake witnessed today - 3rd April, 2026, a historic transition in leadership. With deep gratitude and faith, we sustained new leaders—Alexander Etuwewe as Stake President, Victor Egosim as First Counselor, and Itoro Enang as Second Counselor. We look forward with hope and confidence as they begin this sacred assignment of service.
At the same time, our hearts were filled with appreciation as we honored the exceptional service of the outgoing Stake President - Alex Nkoro and his Councilor - Samuel Okpok, who faithfully served for nearly a decade. Their tenure were marked by remarkable spiritual and organizational growth—new wards were created, others divided, and the Stake eventually split, giving birth to the Calabar Nigeria Etta Agbor Stake. Their leadership has left a lasting legacy of unity, progress, and strengthened faith.
The Stake Conference was presided over by Elder Alfred Kyungu, a General Authority and President of the Africa West Area Presidency ( The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Africa West Area), with assistance from Elder Sunday Oyedeji, an Area Seventy. The atmosphere was deeply spiritual, filled with heartfelt testimonies and inspiring messages from former leaders and their wives, as well as the newly sustained leadership.
Key messages from the conference centered on faith, obedience, and the law of tithing; the vital role of youth and Young Single Adults (YSA); and the positive use of social media as a powerful tool for missionary work and service. A strong reminder was shared on leadership in the Church—that it is not about where we serve, but how we serve. Every calling matters. Every act of service counts. Families were also lovingly encouraged to prioritize quality time together, no matter how busy life becomes.
Grateful for inspired leadership. Thankful for faithful service. Hopeful for the future.
Indeed, the work of the Lord continues to move forward—guided by faith, unity, and love.
