The gospel tells us that God sent His one and only Son, Jesus to the world to be the Saviour for His people. His salvation is completed in five accomplishments which are the sources of salvation. They have been accomplished “for us” and this is why we preach that Jesus is our Salvation. These five points are Christians’ basic belief and guiding principles of the gospel.
1. Jesus Christ was born fo
r us. “A Saviour has been born to you, He is Christ the Lord.” (Lk 2:11)
2. Jesus Christ died for us. “Christ died for our sins and was buried.” (1 Cor 15:3-4; Rom 5:8)
3. Jesus Christ resurrected for us. “He was raised to life for our justification.” (Rom 4:25)
4. Jesus Christ ascended to heaven for us. “I am going there to prepare a place for you.” (Jn 14:2-3)
5. Jesus Christ comes again for us. “…and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.” (Heb 9:28)
We preach that Jesus endured the death on the cross though He is without sin:
Jesus was the Son of God and without sin. He is willing to endure death on the cross in order to accomplish God’s will. For it was God’s will to cause Him to suffer, making Him a guilt offering (Isa 53:10). Only in this way could God realize His plan of redeeming the sinners of the world (Jn 18:11; 1 Jn 4:10). So, He willingly gave up His life and became a ransom for many (Mk 10:45). For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross, scorning its shame (Heb 12:2). We preach that Jesus died for the sins of everyone of us:
Jesus died for the sins of the whole world (1 Jn 2:2). He was delivered over death for our sins (Rom 4:25). He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree (1 Pet 2:24), becoming a curse for us (Gal 3:13-14). The book of Isaiah clearly prophesied, “Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows yet we consider Him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him and by His wounds we are healed (Isa 53: 4-5). Therefore, Jesus’ death is intimately related to every person. We should honestly accept Him as the only Saviour and we preach that Jesus is our Salvation. We preach that Jesus is our Salvation because of the important values of Jesus’ death. In the shedding of His blood. “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” (Heb 9:22). “He loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood” (Rev 1:5). We have been “brought near through the blood of Christ.” (Eph 2:13) “We have been justified by His blood” (Rom 5:9). “We have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus” (Heb 10:19). We can also overcame Satan by the blood of Jesus (Rev 12:11)
