THE LORD WHO GOES BEFORE YOU
In life’s journey, uncertainty often stands before us like a closed door. Decisions about family, work, ministry, and the future can feel overwhelming. Yet the assurance we have as believers is this powerful truth. The Lord does not merely walk with us. He goes before us.

The Scripture declares in Deuteronomy 31:8, “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” This verse reveals God as the One who prepares the way ahead of His people. Before you arrive at tomorrow, Jehovah is already there.

When God goes before you, He clears obstacles, arranges divine help, and aligns circumstances according to His purpose. This does not mean the road will always be smooth, but it means you will never walk into situations unprepared by heaven.

We see this truth clearly in the life of Moses and the children of Israel. As they journeyed through the wilderness, the Lord went before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Exodus 13:21 tells us that God did this to lead them the way they should go. The wilderness was unknown and dangerous, but God’s presence ahead of them gave direction, protection, and assurance.

Joshua also experienced this reality. When he stood at the edge of the Jordan, facing the enormous task of leading Israel into the Promised Land, God assured him of His presence and guidance. The same Lord who went before Moses went before Joshua. This teaches us that divine leadership does not expire with seasons or people. God remains faithful to lead His own.

In the New Testament, we see Jesus Christ going before His disciples. He often withdrew to pray before major events, setting the spiritual atmosphere ahead of time. Even in His resurrection, He went ahead to Galilee, preparing a place of restoration and recommissioning for His disciples. Our Lord always leads the way.

Today, be encouraged. Whatever you are facing, whether a new responsibility, a difficult decision, or an uncertain future, remember that the Lord has already gone ahead of you. Your duty is to trust Him, follow His leading, and walk in obedience. Fear loses its grip when faith rests in the God who goes before.

LET US PRAY:
Jehovah, our faithful Father, we thank You because You are the Lord who goes before us. We acknowledge that our lives are not guided by chance but by Your divine hand. As we step into today and into the future, go ahead of us and make crooked paths straight. Remove obstacles we cannot see and prepare blessings we cannot imagine. Strengthen our hearts to trust You fully and to follow Your leading without fear. We commit our ways into Your hands, knowing that through Jesus Christ, and by the help of the Holy Spirit, we shall walk in victory and peace. In Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

QUENCH NOT THE SPIRIT
Our text is drawn from 1 Thessalonians 5:19 (KJV): “Quench not the Spirit.” This brief but powerful exhortation carries deep spiritual weight. To quench means to put out, suppress, or stifle. Just as one can extinguish a flame by pouring water on it, so can a believer suppress the fire of the Holy Spirit through disobedience, unbelief, or neglect of spiritual duties.

The Spirit of God is described in Scripture as fire. On the Day of Pentecost, “there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them” (Acts 2:3). Fire gives light, warmth, and power. In the same way, the Spirit enlightens our hearts, warms our affections towards God, and empowers us for service. But when a Christian refuses to listen to His gentle promptings, indulges in sin, or grows careless in prayer and study of the Word, the fire of the Spirit is suppressed.

PRACTICAL BIBLE EXAMPLES
Samson: Though anointed by God, Samson played with sin, and the Spirit of the Lord departed from him (Judges 16:20). His story shows how compromise quenches the Spirit’s influence.

David: In contrast, after sinning, David cried, “Take not thy Holy Spirit from me” (Psalm 51:11). He recognised the danger of losing the Spirit’s active presence.

The Apostles: After being filled with the Holy Ghost, they refused to quench Him. Even in persecution, they declared, “We cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20). They allowed the Spirit to move freely through them.

MODERN APPLICATION
In today’s world, distractions, worldliness, and unbelief often attempt to quench the Spirit in believers, especially the youth. The pull of entertainment, immoral lifestyles, and neglect of fellowship can silence the still, small voice of God. To avoid this, we must:
1. Remain steadfast in prayer and fasting.

2. Live holy and obedient lives.

3. Yield daily to the Spirit’s leading.

4. Surround ourselves with godly influences and the Word of God.

When we refuse to quench the Spirit, we remain vessels of power, boldness, and revival in our generation.

LET US PRAY:
Jehovah, we thank Thee for the gift of the Holy Spirit. We bless Thee for His presence that teaches, comforts, and empowers us. Father, forgive us in any way we have quenched Thy Spirit through disobedience or neglect. Rekindle the fire of the Holy Ghost within us. May Jesus Christ be glorified in our lives, and may the Holy Spirit lead us daily into truth, holiness, and power. Keep us burning until the day of Christ’s return. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Amen. HE GIVETH POWER TO THE FAINT
Our text is drawn from Isaiah 40:29: “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”

Life often brings seasons when we feel faint, weary, and almost at the point of giving up. The faint are not only those who are physically tired but also those who are emotionally drained, spiritually discouraged, or burdened by life’s struggles. Yet, the promise of God stands sure—He gives power to the faint.

This means that in our weakest moments, God supplies divine strength. His power is not reserved for the mighty or the strong but for those who acknowledge their weakness and turn to Him. In truth, our insufficiency is the platform upon which God’s sufficiency is made perfect.

PRACTICAL BIBLICAL EXAMPLES
1. Elijah: After his victory at Mount Carmel, Elijah fled into the wilderness, faint and discouraged (1 Kings 19:4). Yet, God sent an angel to feed him and renew his strength until he reached Mount Horeb. God did not condemn Elijah’s weakness but empowered him in it.

2. Hannah: In her barrenness, Hannah was faint of heart, but through her prayer at Shiloh, God renewed her strength. She left the temple no longer sad, and in due season, she bore Samuel (1 Samuel 1:17–20).

3. Apostle Paul: He testified in 2 Corinthians 12:9–10 that in his weakness, the power of Christ rested upon him. Paul discovered that when he was faint, then was he truly strong—because the strength of Christ sustained him.

LESSONS FOR US TODAY
Dependence on God: When faintness comes, it is not a sign of defeat but a call to rely on God’s strength.

Prayer as Renewal: Just as Hannah prayed, and Elijah received heavenly refreshment, so also our strength is renewed in God’s presence.

Hope in Christ: Jesus Christ Himself invites us, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). He is the source of rest and renewed power for our weary souls.

LET US PRAY:
Jehovah, we thank Thee for Thy word that assures us of strength in our weakness. When we are faint and overwhelmed, remind us that Thou art our refuge and strength. Fill us with the power of the Holy Spirit to rise above weariness and discouragement. Through Jesus Christ, who strengthens us day by day, may we walk in renewed vigour and unshakable faith. Amen. LET YOUR SPEECH BE ALWAYS WITH GRACE
The Apostle Paul admonishes believers in Colossians 4:6 saying, “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Speech is one of the most powerful gifts God has given to man. With it we can build up or tear down, bless or curse, comfort or wound. The word of God teaches us that our conversation should not be careless or destructive but gracious, uplifting, and reflective of the Spirit of Christ dwelling in us.

The word grace speaks of unmerited favour, kindness, and gentleness. To speak with grace means to let our words be filled with kindness, understanding, patience, and love. The phrase seasoned with salt suggests that our speech should be wholesome, preserving, and flavourful rather than corrupt, harsh, or bitter. Salt in the Scriptures symbolises purity and preservation. Thus, our words should bring life and encouragement, not corruption or decay.

Jesus Christ Himself is the perfect example. When He spoke, even His enemies marvelled, saying, “Never man spake like this man” (John 7:46). His words were always full of truth, love, and wisdom. Even when He corrected, He did so with compassion, aiming at restoration rather than condemnation.

The Bible warns us in Proverbs 18:21 that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” James also reminds us that the tongue, though small, can set on fire the course of nature if not tamed (James 3:5-6). Therefore, a Christian must submit their tongue to the Holy Spirit, that their speech may edify, comfort, and instruct.

PRACTICAL BIBLE EXAMPLES
1. Joseph’s Words to His Brothers: When Joseph revealed himself to his brothers in Egypt (Genesis 45:4-5), he could have spoken harshly because of the evil they had done to him. Instead, his words were seasoned with grace: “Be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.” Such gracious speech brought reconciliation rather than strife.

2. Abigail’s Words to David: When David was about to avenge himself on Nabal, Abigail met him with wise and gracious words (1 Samuel 25:23-32). Her gentle speech turned away wrath, preserved lives, and prevented David from sinning against God.

3. Stephen’s Words While Being Stoned: In Acts 7:60, as Stephen was martyred, his last words were not curses but gracious prayers: “Lord, lay not this sin to their charge.” His Christ-like speech, even in death, reflected the Spirit of Jesus Christ within him.

APPLICATION TO OUR LIVES
As Christians, our words should reveal the character of Christ. In our homes, words spoken to spouses, children, and relatives must be gracious, not harsh. At work or in the marketplace, our speech should reflect honesty, courtesy, and respect. In the Church, our conversation should strengthen others in the faith. Even on social platforms, our posts and responses must be seasoned with grace.

When we allow the Holy Spirit to guide our tongues, our words become channels of peace, healing, and blessing. A soft answer turns away wrath (Proverbs 15:1), and a gracious word can bring encouragement to a weary soul.

LET US PRAY:
Jehovah, we thank Thee for the gift of speech and for the guidance of Thy word. Grant us the wisdom through Jesus Christ to let our speech always be with grace and seasoned with salt. May the Holy Spirit control our tongues, that our words may bring peace, healing, and edification to all we meet. Help us, O Lord, to reflect the character of Christ in every conversation, that our speech may glorify Thee and draw others closer to Thy kingdom. Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen. SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS
“Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing” (Psalm 100:2, KJV).

To serve the Lord with gladness is to offer ourselves willingly, joyfully, and faithfully in the work of God’s kingdom. Service to Jehovah is not meant to be done grudgingly or out of mere duty, but from a heart that delights in Him. True service flows out of love, gratitude, and reverence.

In the Old Testament, we see how Israel was commanded to serve the Lord with all their heart and soul (Deuteronomy 10:12). When they did so, blessings followed; but when their service became half-hearted or mixed with idolatry, they suffered consequences.

In the New Testament, Jesus Christ Himself exemplified joyful service. He said, “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work” (John 4:34). Even though He endured hardship and suffering, He served with gladness because His eyes were fixed on the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2).

The Apostle Paul also encourages believers to serve with gladness, reminding us that “God loveth a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). Service to God includes not only our giving but our time, talents, and devotion.

PRACTICAL EXAMPLES
1. David served the Lord with gladness when he danced before the ark of the covenant, unashamed to show his joy in God’s presence (2 Samuel 6:14).

2. The early Church served one another gladly, breaking bread from house to house with joy and singleness of heart (Acts 2:46).

3. Dorcas (Tabitha) in Acts 9:36 was full of good works and almsdeeds, serving joyfully by helping widows and the needy, and her service left a lasting testimony.

To serve with gladness today means singing in the choir with joy, ushering people into the church with a smile, giving to the poor without complaint, and living daily with a heart that glorifies Jehovah through Jesus Christ. Service is not about how grand the act is, but about the spirit in which it is done.

LET US PRAY:
Jehovah, we thank Thee for calling us into Thy service. Grant us the grace to serve Thee with gladness, not with weariness or complaint. Help us to see that our labour in Thee is never in vain. May the example of Jesus Christ guide us, and may the Holy Spirit fill us with joy in every act of service. Strengthen us to be faithful in little things as well as in great things, that our lives may bring glory to Thy holy name. Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen. THE LORD WILL GUIDE YOU CONTINUALLY
The promise that the Lord will guide His people continually is found in Isaiah 58:11: “And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.”

To be guided continually by the Lord is to live under His divine direction at all times. Unlike men who can only advise based on what they know, God sees the end from the beginning. His guidance never fails because He knows what is best for us in every season of life.

When the children of Israel journeyed through the wilderness, the Lord guided them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night (Exodus 13:21). This guidance was constant and sure. They did not need to wonder which way to go because God Himself was leading them. In the same way, the Lord promises to guide us in every step we take, whether in times of abundance or in times of drought.

David also testified to this truth when he wrote, “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake” (Psalm 23:3). The Good Shepherd knows the safe paths, the nourishing fields, and the quiet waters where His sheep can find rest and refreshment.

PRACTICAL BIBLE EXAMPLES
Abraham: When God told him to leave his father’s house and go to a land He would show him (Genesis 12:1), Abraham obeyed without knowing where he was going. Yet the Lord guided him and made him the father of nations.

Joseph: Though sold into slavery and thrown into prison, Joseph remained under God’s continual guidance. Each step that seemed like a setback was actually part of the divine plan leading him to become governor in Egypt (Genesis 41:41).

The Apostles: In Acts 16:6–10, Paul and his companions were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach in certain places, but later received the vision of the man of Macedonia. God’s continual guidance redirected them to where the gospel was needed most.

LESSONS FOR US TODAY
1. God’s guidance is continual, not seasonal. We must trust Him daily, not only in crises.

2. His guidance often comes through His Word, the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and godly counsel.

3. To enjoy continual guidance, we must remain obedient and sensitive to His leading.

4. Trusting in our own wisdom often leads to failure, but leaning on the Lord ensures safety. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5–6).

LET US PRAY:
Jehovah, we thank Thee for the assurance that Thou wilt guide us continually. We bless Thee for the examples in Thy Word where Thou hast faithfully led Thy people in times past. Grant unto us the grace to always trust in Thy direction, even when the path seems uncertain. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, lead us in the way everlasting, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, keep us from straying from Thy will. May our lives be like a watered garden that never runs dry, bearing fruits of righteousness to Thy glory. Amen. GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS
The faithfulness of God is one of the unchanging attributes that give believers hope and confidence in every season of life. The Scripture declares in Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV), “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

This verse reminds us that though life may bring trials, pain, and uncertainties, the faithfulness of Jehovah never diminishes. His mercies are renewed daily, not because of our worthiness, but because of His steadfast love.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS
To Abraham: God promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations, even though he was old and Sarah was barren. In due time, Isaac was born, showing that Jehovah is faithful to perform His word (Genesis 21:1–2).

To Israel: Despite Israel’s wanderings and disobedience in the wilderness, Jehovah provided manna, water, and guidance by the pillar of cloud and fire (Exodus 16:35; Nehemiah 9:21). His faithfulness was not dependent on their perfection but on His covenant.

To David: When David was pursued by Saul, it seemed as though the promise of kingship might fail. Yet Jehovah preserved his life and fulfilled His word, establishing David’s throne (2 Samuel 7:16).

In Jesus Christ: The greatest expression of God’s faithfulness is in the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, who came to save the world. The prophets spoke of Him long before His birth, and in the fullness of time, He came, fulfilling every promise (Galatians 4:4).

APPLICATION TO OUR LIVES
In our personal walk, there are times we face financial struggles, health challenges, or emotional battles. Yet, just as He was faithful to the saints of old, He remains faithful to us. He provides strength in weakness, peace in storms, and hope in despair. The Apostle Paul testified in 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV), “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.”

Therefore, no matter the situation you are passing through, hold on to Jehovah’s promises. His faithfulness is sure, and His word cannot fail.

LET US PRAY:
Jehovah, we thank Thee for Thy unchanging faithfulness and mercies that are new every morning. Through Jesus Christ, Thou hast shown us Thy steadfast love, and by the Holy Spirit, Thou dost remind us daily of Thy promises. Strengthen our faith to trust Thee even when the path is unclear. Grant us the grace to rest in Thy word, knowing that Thou art faithful to perform it. May our lives reflect gratitude and obedience as we walk with Thee. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE NOR FORSAKE THEE
The promise “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” is one of the most comforting assurances given to believers in the Word of God. It is found in Hebrews 13:5 (KJV): “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

This promise speaks directly to the heart of God’s people, reminding us that no matter the situation, God’s presence is constant, His care is unchanging, and His love is unfailing.

GOD’S PRESENCE IN TIMES OF TROUBLE
Life often presents us with storms, uncertainties, and trials. In those moments, it is easy to feel abandoned or forgotten. Yet God declares that He will never forsake us. JESUS CHRIST, THE EMMANUEL
This promise finds its perfect fulfilment in Jesus Christ. Matthew 1:23 reminds us of the prophecy: “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Jesus did not only come to save us from sin but also to assure us that God’s presence is with us daily. Before His ascension, He declared, “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20).

PRACTICAL EXAMPLES FROM SCRIPTURE
1. Joseph – Though betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery, Joseph experienced God’s faithfulness. The Scripture says, “But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy” (Genesis 39:21). God never left him, and eventually elevated him to a place of honour in Egypt.

2. Daniel – In the lions’ den, Daniel was not forsaken. God sent His angel to shut the lions’ mouths (Daniel 6:22).

3. Paul the Apostle – When he was imprisoned and forsaken by men, Paul declared, “Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me” (2 Timothy 4:17).

LESSON FOR BELIEVERS TODAY
The promise “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee” is not only for the saints of old but also for us today. In loneliness, sickness, trials, or even in the valley of death, Jehovah’s presence through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit abides with us. The Spirit of God, the Comforter, continues to dwell in us, reminding us of God’s unfailing love.

Our duty is to rest in this assurance and live in obedience and faith, knowing that no circumstance can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39).

LET US PRAY:
Jehovah, we thank Thee for Thy unfailing promise never to leave nor forsake us. We bless Thee for the gift of Jesus Christ, Emmanuel, who abides with us always, and for the comfort of the Holy Spirit who strengthens our hearts. Grant us the grace to hold firmly to this assurance in times of trial, to walk in faith, and to rest in Thy loving presence. May we, like Joseph, Daniel, and Paul, experience Thy mighty deliverance and divine companionship. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, we pray. Amen. “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”

The Apostle James gives a perspective that seems contrary to human reasoning. Naturally, when trials come, we are inclined to complain, feel discouraged, or even lose faith. Yet the Spirit of God instructs us to count it all joy. Joy here is not based on circumstances but on trust in God’s sovereign plan. Trials are not meant to destroy us but to refine us, producing patience and maturity.

The word “count” implies a conscious decision. We are to consider or reckon our difficulties as instruments in God’s hand, shaping us into Christ’s image. The result of enduring trials is spiritual completeness, where nothing essential is lacking.

PRACTICAL EXAMPLES FROM THE BIBLE
Joseph: Sold into slavery and later imprisoned, yet he did not lose faith in God. In the end, his trials positioned him to preserve a nation and his family (Genesis 50:20).

Job: Despite losing his wealth, children, and health, Job said, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him” (Job 13:15). His steadfastness brought about restoration and multiplied blessings.

Paul and Silas: Beaten and imprisoned in Philippi, they still prayed and sang praises unto God. Their joy in affliction brought deliverance and salvation to the jailer (Acts 16:25–34).

LESSON FOR US TODAY
As believers, we are not exempt from hardship. Challenges may come in the form of sickness, financial struggle, rejection, or persecution. Yet, through the power of Jesus Christ and the comfort of the Holy Spirit, we can choose joy, knowing trials are temporary and purposeful. True joy springs from faith, not from fleeting circumstances.

When we rejoice in trials, we declare that our trust is in Jehovah, not in the instability of life. This mindset keeps our hearts from despair and our eyes fixed on the eternal hope in Christ.

LET US PRAY:
Jehovah, we thank Thee for Thy Word that strengthens our souls. We acknowledge that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Thou deliverest us out of them all. Give us the grace to count it all joy when we pass through trials. May the Holy Spirit comfort and uphold us in difficult seasons. Through Jesus Christ, let patience be perfected in us, that we may lack nothing in our walk with Thee. Strengthen us to shine as lights, even in adversity. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
