CENTRAL THEME: BEARING WITNESS OF THE LIGHT (John 1:7-9)
SPEAKER: Asst. Pst. F.E. Bassey
SUB-THEME: PROCLAIMING THE TRUE LIGHT
TEXTS: John 1:6-9, Matthew 5:16

The Clergy presented Jesus Christ as the true Light and employs the congregation of the faithful to come to the light so as not to walk in darkness of the world and that the darkness will not have power over us.

Speaking further, he enjoin all the believers to proclaim the light wherever they go’

WAYS WE CAN PROCLAIM THE LIGHT
Through the word of God in our mouth
Through our lifestyles and relationships with other people around us.

NATURE OF THE LIGHT
It exposes darkness
It guides the believers
It gives life to every believer

NOTE: We did not create the light, rather it was given by God to us. It is therefore imperative that we proclaim the light to others.

PLACES THAT WE CAN PROCLAIM THE LIGHT
In our pulpit (i.e., your position of authority)
Your environment (workplace, market square, dwelling place, etc.)
Through our personal life and relationship with others

EFFECT OF PROCLAIMING THE LIGHT
It repels darkness (John 1:5)
People will find a good direction through the light
The church will become visible in the community
Sanctification will be attained

Conclusion: The preacher admonished everyone to keep proclaiming i light wherever they find themselves and when the light (Jesus Christ) shall return in His glory, He will reward us accordingly.

Text: John 1:7-9

INTRODUCTION: The preacher explained “Purpose” to be the reason to which someone came or something being created. Hence, Light (Jesus Christ) came into the World in order to fulfill the following unto us;
> To take away the sins of the whole world (John 1:29-30)
> That we may have abundance grace through the light (1:16)
> To show that He is our messiah (John 1:41)
> That whosoever might hear the word and believe in the light might have everlasting life( John 5:24 )
> To bring light into every dark corner of the world (John 8:12)
> To make every impossibilities of ours to become possible( John 2:5-11 )
> He came to cleanse the temple of God (John 2:15-18)
> He came to prove that good thing can come out of Nazareth (John 1:44-50)
> That He might baptized men with the Holy Spirit (John 1:33-34)
> To redeemed those who where under the law and Satan’s captivity (Galatians 4:4-5)
> To bear witness of the Father who sent Him to the world (John 8:18)
> To give us salvation (Acts 4;12)

In addition,
> The Light came in order to liberate the poor and lowly man and cause him to be recognized and be in the midst of great men.
> The light has the power to cause every delayed prophecy of ours to come to its fulfilment as to meet up with the divine purpose of God.

Conclusively. He posited that the light came that our sins both towards God and with our fellow humans might be blotted out completely thus granting us pardon through His redemptive work on the cross. He charged all the believers to look unto the light, hope on the light and trust completely in Him that the light might radiate on us.

Text:Acts 1:8, 4:12, 10:38

INTRODUCTION:
Witnessing is a clarion call from our Lord Jesus Christ to all believers. A Witness is someone who was or is present during the time of the occurrence of an event and can equally testify about the event to another person.

THINGS THAT WE ARE WITNESSES ABOUT:
> The healing power of Jesus Christ (Luke 13:23)
> Restoration and saving power of Jesus Christ (Luke 19:10)
> His glory in us (Colossians 1:26-27)

DUTIES OF A WITNESS:
> Winning souls unto Christ (Luke 9:10)
> Preaching the gospel of salvation throughout the entire world (Luke 14:23)
> Nurturing the new souls in the body of Christ unto maturity

WAYS THAT CHRIST CALLS US:
> Making us disciples unto himself
> By saddling us with the task of The Great Commission (Luke 24)

PRINCIPLES OF BEING CHRIST WITNESSES:
> Knowing the gospel (Acts 5:42)
> Being filled with the Holy Spirit
> Being prayerful
> Maintaining constant fellowship with Christ (John 15:4-5)

CONCLUSION:
Christ calls us unto Himself so as to bear witness about him to others that are around us. It is therefore imperative that we discharge our sole responsibilities duly by preaching the gospel of salvation to the lost souls and bring them unto the knowledge of God.

The great commission is preaching the word of God and believing the word and feed them to others.

Key Terms:
Great: excellent, highly important
Com-: is an Hebrew word that means Command.
Mission: this is a task or an assignment to be done
Great Commission: This is a special task or an assignment given to someone or group of people to be carried out and bring good results, blessing and winning souls to Christ Jerusalem

Three Tracks To Accomplished This Great Mission:
1. Having faith and believing: John 6:29, HEB. 11.6
2. Being sure of your salvation and the Holy Spirit: Acts 4:12, 1Timothy 4:16, Acts2:40
3. Feed yourself with the word: Matthew 7:3-5, Romans 8:16, Romans 10:13-15, Matthew 9:35, Daniel chapter 3.

Let's keep up the the task assigned to us and always remember the great commission and it's urgency at all times
