Capability

Deuteronomy 8:18 “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant…” (NIV).

To experience financial metamorphosis, the first thing is, I Must Trust God As My Source And Supplier. The second thing is, I Must Keep Good Records. The third thing is, I Must Give The First 10% Back To God. Pastor Kunle Olawale captured it aptly when he said, “For everything God gives you, there is a part of it that is not yours. That part belongs to God.” Profound! If it is a house that God has given to you, there is a part that is not yours. Think of anything God has blessed you with, there is a part that is not yours. That part is for God, and you honour Him with it. If you like call it a tithe, if you like call it a tenth, call it whatever you want to call it.

And I would say that God will always put a portion of His in the hands of men.
Look at Eden, God said, you can eat everything, but do not touch this portion, it is mine. So, honour me with it (Genesis 2:15-17 paraphrased). God will always put a portion of His in the hands of men. Proverbs 3:9-10 “Honour the Lord by giving him the first part of all your income, and he will fill your barns with wheat and barley and overflow your wine vats with the finest wines.” (LB, emphasis added). Did the Bible say, honour the Lord by giving Him the leftovers of your income? No, the Bible says, Honour the Lord by giving Him the first part of all your income.

If I want to experience financial metamorphosis, I Must Save And Invest For The Future. Proverbs 21:20 “The wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends whatever he gets.” (LB). If he spends whatever he gets – that is a foolish man. The wise man on the other hand saves for the future. You can say savings are God's IQ test. Your capacity to save is God's IQ test. He says if you can save for the future, you are wise. If you spend everything you earn, you are foolish. Guess what? The Bible did not say whether you earn much or whether you earn little. So, it does not matter if you earn much or earn little. Even if you earn little and you cannot save - it is the same thing. If you earn much and you cannot save, it is the same thing.

Different countries and cultures have different cultures of saving. You need to ask yourself, what is my savings culture? What savings culture am I creating in this family? What savings culture am I creating in my life? The average Japanese for instance saves twenty-five percent (25%) of their income – pay-cheque in, pay-cheque out, month in, month out. The average western European saves eighteen percent (18%) of their income. The average American does not have savings but instead spends one percent (1%) more than they earn.

Prayer: Father, as I honour You in my finances, give me the capacity to retain and multiply wealth, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!

Foremost

Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” (NIV)

We kick off today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday and that is, to experience financial metamorphosis, I Must Give The First 10% Back To God. I shared yesterday that God taught me how to tithe, and I have been tithing for decades. I know where I was before I started tithing and I know where I am now. By the grace of God, no one can convince me to stop tithing. My response to people who come with all sorts of arguments is aptly articulated in Psalm 34:8 “O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good!” (AMPC).

Similarly, people have all sorts of arguments about speaking in tongues. Some people will argue from now till forever about whether speaking in tongues is right or wrong. Or whether we should be speaking in tongues in this dispensation. Or whether it ended with the Apostles. I have been speaking in tongues for decades and I know the metamorphosis in my spiritual life. I have been through intense spiritual battles where all I could do was speak in tongues and God gave me victory. Then one person is trying to convince me not to speak in tongues? Try harder.

In God’s Favourite House, we are so confident because of God’s Word that we say to people that are testing the waters with tithing to take a tithe challenge. If you have been looking at tithing with a suspicious eye, I am challenging you to take a tithe challenge. In three months, if you do not see God’s hands upon your life and finances, stop tithing! Write to us at [email protected] and we will refund you. Deal? But let us know before you start, and if after three months you say you are not even interested in this big fat untruth. We will refund your funds. God says, “…Test me in this…”. So, we are challenging you to test God in it. Deuteronomy 14:23 “…The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives.” (TLB). That is what tithing is all about and it is so huge! Your tithe is not ten percent (10%) of your income, it is the first ten percent (10%).

If you want God’s blessings you have to put God first, no matter what area of your life. If you want God’s blessing on your day, put God first in your day. If you want God’s blessing on your life, put God first in your life. If you want God's blessings on your relationship, put God first in your relationship. If you want God’s blessings on your home, put God first in your home. If you want God's blessings on your finances, put God first in your finances. If you want God's blessings on your education, put God first in your education.

Prayer: Father, help me put You first in every part of my life, in Jesus Name. Amen!

Remain

1 John 2:24 “So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father.”

Proverbs 27:23-24 “Riches can disappear fast…so watch your business interests closely. Know the state of your flocks and herds” (TLB, emphasis added). Some of us have invested in stocks but we do not even know where the records are. God says if you want financial metamorphosis you need to keep good records because riches have a way of disappearing very fast. Tens of thousands of Bitcoins are missing because people cannot find their keys. God wants you to pay close attention to your business interests, to your wealth, to your inflow – pay close attention. Keep records of your real estate if you have one. Keep good records of your flocks, that is what the Word of God says. I want to recommend the resource, Thinking Clearly About Your Finances on the Thrive Podcast by God’s Favourite House. Sit down with it, and chew on it. You need to know what you own, what you owe, what you earn, and where it is all going. Get the resource.

To experience financial metamorphosis, the first thing is, I Must Trust God As My Source And Supplier. The second thing is, I Must Keep Good Records. The third thing is, I Must Give The First 10% Back To God. I have heard all sorts of teachings. Some say we are in the New Testament, so we are supposed to give more than ten percent (10%). The New Testament is the dispensation of grace and to teach people to give ten percent (10%) is to limit their destinies. How can someone who cannot give ten percent (10%) consistently, give sixty percent (60%)? Start with what the baseline is, then you can grow from there. It is one of the pillars of financial health and blessings. It is not a law; it is a principle.

Recently, the church has been bullied into not wanting to speak about tithe. But I like to stay with the fundamentals. If you get the fundamentals right, every other thing can now be built upon it. But fundamentals first in any sport, fundamental first. God taught me how to tithe, and I have been tithing for decades. I know where I was before I started tithing and I know where I am now. And someone wants to convince me to stop tithing? How do they want to do that? It is like I am eating a fruit and I can taste how sweet the fruit is. You do not even have a fruit, meanwhile, you are convinced my fruit is not sweet. No, you taste and see that the Lord is good. If you want to experience financial metamorphosis, you must give the first ten percent (10%) back to God.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace and wisdom to consistently walk in the light of Your Word and to keep doing the things You have and are teaching me, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!

Source & Steward

Matthew 25:19 “After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money.”

To experience financial metamorphosis, the first thing is, I Must Trust God As My Source And Supplier. Your job is not your source. Your business is not your source. Most times, we are so guarded when it comes to our jobs, our careers, and our businesses because we do not want anything to toy with our income. While you should be responsible, you need to understand and let it be drilled into you without any shadow of doubt that your God is your source. People often say, ‘I work hard for my money’. You should work hard, and that is what we stand for. However, the truth is that God remains your source. Deuteronomy 8:18 “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant…” (NIV).

God is The One that gives you the ability to produce wealth. God wants you to be a wealth creator. Remember the story of one of the patriarchs in Genesis 26, the philistines blocked his well. He went to another place and dug another well, he created wealth, but they came and blocked his well because of jealousy. He left them, went to another place, and created another well. If you are carrying the blessing, no one can stop you. They can beef (hate) you, but they cannot stop you. You create wealth everywhere you go and that is what God wants you to do. He is giving you the ability to create wealth. So, who gives the ability? God. Who gives you the ideas? Who gives you the skill? God. Who makes you so diligent at work and gives you strength? God and He does that to confirm His covenant. God confirms His covenant by wealth.

I have friends who live in big houses, and have the good things of life, but want to convince us that God does not want people to prosper. I know there is an abuse of this prosperity thing. But the fundamental thing about faith is that first and foremost faith is to secure your eternity and your relationship with God. But why does God leave you on earth? God leaves you on earth for a purpose and that purpose is to prosper in every area of your life. Therefore, every lie that has kept you from prospering, we command it to be scattered now in the Name of Jesus.

To experience financial metamorphosis, the second thing is, I Must Keep Good Records. Proverbs 27:23-24 “Riches can disappear fast… so watch your business interests closely. Know the state of your flocks and herds” (LB, emphasis added). In those days wealth was accumulated in flocks and herds. But today it will be, ‘know the state of your stocks, real estate, investment, cryptocurrency’. Know the state of your wealth. God wants you to keep good records.

Prayer: Father, You alone are my Source and Supplier, help me walk worthy of You, in Jesus Name. Amen!

Money Matters

Matthew 6:21 “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”

We are still on our journey of positive transformation and over the next few days our focus will be on financial metamorphosis. How to be transformed in your finances, from where you are to where God wants you to be. How to be changed from your current glory to a higher and a new level of glory. As with everything, it has to do with the fundamentals. If you get the fundamentals right, your growth becomes limitless, and your change for good becomes limitless. When we look at Jesus’ life, we will see that He actually spoke more about money, than He spoke about heaven and hell combined. Think about it and check the scripture, Jesus spoke and made references to money, more than He made references to heaven and hell.

So, what does that tells us? It tells us that somehow money is linked to our eternal destiny. Isn’t money a carnal thing? Interestingly Jesus Himself said, “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be”. Whoever is the custodian of your treasure, becomes the custodian of your attention. The number one thing that rivals God in your life is Mammon and that is purely money. So, how you deal with, relate with, and see money determines how you experience eternity here on earth, and in heaven or hell. How you see money and how you relate to money goes a long way. If God can get a hold of your wallet, God would have succeeded in getting a hold of your heart. If God can succeed in getting hold of your bank account, God would have succeeded in getting hold of your attention. And if God has your attention, God has your heart. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. So, over the next few days, we will explore seven principles of financial metamorphosis.

To experience financial metamorphosis, the first thing is, I Must Trust God As My Source And Supplier. I do not know who pays your bills, but I am here to tell you that God is your source. I do not know who pays your salary, but I am here to tell you that God is your source. I do not even care who is threatening your income, I am here to tell you that God is your source. Romans 11:36 “For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory…". The source of your income is not your job, but your God. Your job is just a channel. The source is God. In our homes, for example, we have different taps, in the kitchen, bathroom, etc. However, the tap is not the source. If you have an overhead tank, that tank is the source. God is your source and your supplier. “…everything comes from him… and is intended for his glory…”.

Prayer: Father, I acknowledge You as my Source and My Supplier, in Jesus Name. Amen!

Active Witness, II

Proverbs 11:30 “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, a wise person wins friends. And he who wins souls is wise. (NKJV/NLT).

So, how do we experience relational metamorphosis? To experience relational metamorphosis, one, you need to Get Interested In Other People. Two, Do not Be A Chronic Complainer. Three, you need to Learn To Be A Good Listener. Four, you need to Accept People Unconditionally. Five, you need to Help People Feel Significant. Six, you need to Be Sympathetic. Seven, you need to Stick With People In Tough Times. And eight, you need to Share Christ With Them. If after going through these eight, you feel like you need a friend like this.

I want to challenge you to become that kind of friend to someone else. Be that person that is interested in other people. Be that person that is not a chronic complainer. Be that person that is a good listener. Be that person that accepts people unconditionally. Be that friend that helps people feel significant. Be that person that is sympathetic and that sticks with people in tough times. Be that friend that shares Christ with those that are in their circle. Be that person and God will bless you in Jesus Mighty Name.

I know some of us may be struggling with the fact that we have been friends with these people for a long time and they do not even know we are Christians, they do not even know we are saved. How do you now invite people who you never talked to about the love of God to church? Very easy actually. It is called Apology Evangelism. Are you ready? Pay attention. What you do is you go to them and say to them, ‘I am so sorry, there is something that I have kept away from you’. And they are like, ‘What?’ Then you say, ‘Friends should not keep secrets from friends. Please, I want you to forgive me’. ‘What is it, okay, I forgive you. So, what is this thing?’ They will ask. Then you say, ‘I have not told you about the love of Jesus. Jesus saved my soul…’. So, you go on to tell your own story, your salvation story, with them.

Then you say, I have also not told you about my church. It is the best place on the face of the earth. It is a safe place. I feel so bad that I have kept this from you all this time. Please forgive me. I should have invited you to church. But I will not take no for an answer, you have to come to church with me this Sunday. I will really be glad if you come.’ That is how you build relationships that will last for eternity. However, to experience relational metamorphosis, you must be in a relationship with Jesus. Just cry out to Him and ask Him to be Lord in your life. I pray that God will release His life into you and change your lives completely, in the Mighty name of Jesus.

Prayer: Father, I bring all my relationships before You today, help me experience relational metamorphosis, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!

Active Witness, I

Mark 5:18-20 “…Let me stay with you.” But Jesus would not allow it… he told the man, “Go home to your family, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been to you.” So the man… began to tell how much Jesus had done for him in the Ten Cities” (GW).

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 “Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone and falls, it's just too bad, because there is no one to help him.” (GNT). We all need people like this. So, I am challenging you to become someone like this. To experience relational metamorphosis, Stick With People In Tough Times. I have a lot of friends that walk into my life in my time of crisis and all they want me to know is that they are standing with me. But the fake friends will say they want to be neutral, to stand in the middle. The truth is they have always been waiting for you to go down. Countless of my friends have gone through difficult times, and I show up for them. If I listened to them tell me what happened, it is because it is therapeutic for them. I just want them to talk so that they can get it out and heal. When they are done, I simply let them know that it does not matter to me. I assure them that I am here for them. Will you be that kind of friend?

If you want to have relational metamorphosis you need to Get Interested In Other People, Do not Be A Chronic Complainer, Learn To Be A Good Listener, Accept People Unconditionally, Help People Feel Significant, Be Sympathetic, Stick With People In Tough Times, and Share Christ With Them. Luke 8:39 “No, go back to your family, and tell them everything God has done for you.” So he went all through the town proclaiming the great things Jesus had done for him.” This is someone that Jesus healed. Has Jesus done anything for you? Then you need to tell it. You need to share your testimony. Share it with your friends or with your church family. Does Jesus mean anything to you? If Jesus means anything to you, then you need to talk about His love. You need to talk about His goodness. You need to share Christ with them.

Is anyone going to be in heaven because of you? Think about it. Is anyone going to enter into their destiny because of you? Think about it. Guess what? Every Sunday affords you an amazing opportunity to invite and bring someone to church, to Jesus. When God touches their lives, guess what? It is in your account. I can never forget the person who never gave up on me encountering Jesus. I used to call him ‘Bro Tosin’. He used to irritate me then, but now I am grateful for him. The truth is there are people whose breakthroughs are contingent upon you not giving up on them. So, what are you going to do about that? Is it going to be on your record?

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to stick with people, not give up on people, and share Christ Jesus with everyone, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!

Stick On

Proverbs 18:24 “Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like family.” (MSG).

To experience relational metamorphosis, Get Interested In Other People, Do not Be A Chronic Complainer, Learn To Be A Good Listener, Accept People Unconditionally, and Help People Feel Significant. People are going through a lot already. If you want to have close quality friendships, you need to help people feel significant. Treat them with dignity, and do not expect it to be reciprocated. Begin to practice it. You will discover that you will become that person that people want to be close to. Then, you can choose the quality friendships that you want to be close to.

Romans 12:10 “Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves.” (NIV). When you treat people with dignity, you make them feel significant. And guess what? People blossom with approval. People open up with affirmation. People grow with appreciation. People become committed when they are treated with dignity. So, learn to make people feel important. Again, if you do these things, I am showing you from the scriptures, you will have quality relationships in your close circle. Take it to the bank.

To experience relational metamorphosis, Be Sympathetic. God wants you to be engaged with your emotions. Romans 12:15 “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.” You are not to psychoanalyze those who weep, the Bible says weep with them. And rejoice with those who rejoice. This means bringing your emotions to the party. You need to get involved with people emotionally. If you want quality friendships, you need to tune into other people’s feelings.

To experience relational metamorphosis, Stick With People In Tough Times. Proverbs 18:24 “There are “friends” who pretend to be friends, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (LB). Ultimately this scripture speaks of Christ, however, we are to be Christ to people and stick with them. Why? It is because true friends are in your corner when you are corned. And that is how you know true friends. Fake friends are on a pedestal looking down their noses at you when you are cornered. Some will even say to you, ‘I told you! You are not that smart after all. You need to learn from your mistakes.’ I have people in my life who when I am in trouble, say to me, ‘I do not need to hear what happened. I know you and I am for you. I stand with you! Such people are precious to me. Guess what? No matter what happens to them too, I show up and say to them, ‘I am not interested in what happened. I am just here for you!’ Can you be that kind of friend? We all need these kinds of friendships.

Prayer: Father, help me practice all that You are teaching me this season, in Jesus Name. Amen!

Bear In Mind

Psalm 84:6-7 “As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.” (NIV)

From today’s anchor scripture it is clear that we will go through valleys. There are different kinds of valleys, but these four we have highlighted in the past few days are guaranteed valleys. In the Name of Jesus, we will go from strength to strength, to strength until we show up before God in Zion. Valleys and difficulties are supposed to make us mature, grow stronger, and build our character. When you stand before God in Zion, God will not care about your clothes, your cars, your carrier, or your cash. What God cares about is your character. God is going to ask; did you grow from strength to strength when you went through the valley? During the COVID 19 pandemic, a valley that the whole world experienced, did you grow?

As we go through Baca, we turn it into a place of overflowing waters in the Name of Jesus. In the inevitable valleys of life, you need to REMEMBER. And this is something that God has been emphasizing in this season. We need to remember and keep remembering who God is. We need to remember that there is a reward that will last forever. The reward of even these tough times will last forever and I will show you in the Bible. 2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our present troubles are quite small and they won’t last very long. Yet they are producing in us an eternal glory that will last forever and is greater than anything we can imagine!” (NLT/GW). This valley you are experiencing will not last very long, but the reward will last forever in the Name of Jesus.

We also need to remember that God has a good plan, a good purpose, even for the valley. God has a good plan even for the valley. The valley is a tough place to be, but God has a good plan even for the valley. Romans 5:3-5 “…we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. This hope does not disappoint us, for God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to us.” (ESV/GNT).

I like the way Hosea puts it in Hosea 2:15 “I will …transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope.” In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, God will transform every valley of trouble in your life into a gateway of hope. Everything that represents a value of trouble in your life, God will transform into a gateway of hope in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

Prayer: Father, I rejoice in You who transforms every valley of trouble into a gateway of hope, who transforms every valley into a place of springs, in Jesus Name. Amen!

Baca’s Purpose

Psalm 84:6 “When they walk through the Valley of Weeping, it will become a place of refreshing springs. The autumn rains will clothe it with blessings”

The first of the four guaranteed valleys is The Valley of Siddim. The Valley of Siddim is the Valley of failure. The second Valley is The Valley of Eshcol. The Valley of Eshcol is the Valley of Fear, of intimidation, of inferiority complex. The third is The Valley of Elah. The Valley of Elah is the valley of conflict, where you face giant challenges. The fourth guaranteed valley that everybody has to deal with is The Valley of Baca. The valley of Baca is the valley of weeping, grief, and barrenness. I pray for everyone currently experiencing or going through the valley of Baca, the valley of weeping, grief, and barrenness. I pray that Baca will become a fruitful place, and it will usher you into the presence of the Most High God.

Nothing grows in the valley of Baca. Nothing is productive, and there is no fruit there, just tears. You, your family, your business, your career, and your relationship may be passing through some sort of Baca right now. Characterized by a lot of loss and weeping, grieving, and things are drying up. However, Baca should bring us to a place where we weep and pray for our brothers regardless of their faith. For every human being that is going through a challenging situation. Our hearts should rend, our hearts should cry. Psalm 84:6a-7 “As they pass through the Valley of Baca… They go from strength to strength; Each one appears before God in Zion.”

William Booth is the man that started the Salvation Army. The story is told of how they started in the UK and sent missionaries to the US. The missionaries sent a message back to William Booth saying, ‘We have fasted, we have prayed… (We have brought comedians to church. We have brought entertainers), but people are not coming to God. These people do not want God. And William Booth sent a telegram message back to them – two words, it read, ‘Try weeping!’ And as the story goes, as they wept for the cities, God turned the hearts of the people to Himself. God’s people have a duty to go through the Valley of Baca so that we can usher people into Zion. We go through Baca so that we can usher people into God’s presence, into Zion.

Psalm 84:6 “As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools.” (NKJV). As they pass through the desert of barrenness, drought, and dryness, they make it a place of springs, a well-watered garden. That is who we are; water comes when we show up. Springs come to the desert, and it becomes rivers of living water when we show up.

Prayer: Father, everything that represents Baca in my life will bear fruit for Your glory and will become a highway ushering people into Zion, in Jesus Name. Amen!
