Don’t Spread Bad News.
The Church, as the body of Christ on earth, is the only Institution on earth that is given the mandate and capacity to spread the gospel of Christ, and the gospel is the good news about Christ and all that He has done for mankind.
There’s a lot of bad news and demoralizing information in circulation in today’s world and social media platforms have made the circulation much easier. Wherever you turn to, you will hear about violence, pandemic, natural disaster, killings and lots more.
Part of the duty of the present day church in these last days is to offer hope to humanity in the midst of all the evil that is plaguing the earth. As part of the Church, we can accomplish this by spreading the good news that offers hope in Christ to everyone beyond every despair in the world.
We, therefore, encourage Pastors and Church workers to refrain from using church ministry and fellowship platforms for spreading bad news about what is happening in the world in the name of disseminating information. Social media platforms and news agencies are filled with those information and people already have access to them.
People go to church and fellowship meetings to find hope and safety in Christ, not to get information, and that hope is in the true gospel. So we must use church and fellowship meetings to offer hope to God’s people, that is the only place they can find it.
If you are a Pastor, take God’s people under your pastorate beyond what is happening in the world and all the bad news that accompanies it and show them the good news about Christ and what He has done for humanity and how it offers hope to us in these trying times.
Wherever there is sickness, there is healing in Christ for everyone who believes. Wherever there is death, there is life in Christ for everyone who believes. Wherever there is sorrow, there is joy in Christ for everyone who believes. So share this good news by pointing the world to Christ.
Bad news breeds fear and weakens the heart. It is only good news that builds faith and increases our confidence in God. For every bad news we hear, there is good news in Christ that supersedes it. So spread the good news and help people to see light in the present darkness that engulfing the earth. Remember the song “In Christ alone, my hope is found..” Sing it often - especially in times like this. We will surely overcome, through the hope we have found IN CHRIST ALONE. Shalom!
