WILL THE CHURCH PASS THROUGH THE GREAT TRIBULATION?
We will discover in this lecture the truth about this tribulation.
First, what is Great Tribulation? Matt. 24:21, 29:31; Dan.12:1. Joel 2:1-11. The time the nation of Israel and the unbelieving world will suffer unprecedented outburst of fury from the hand of antichrist.
1. The Church will Not Pass Through The Great Tribulation
I want to categorically state that after a thorough search of the scriptures, I have not seen a clear biblical passage to support the last two schools of thought, which say that Christian will pass through a part or a whole of the Great Tribulation. Rather we have clear Bible passages to prove to you that all sanctified Christians will not pass through the great tribulation but will be raptured before the great tribulation. Ephesians 5:25-27; 3:19; 1 Thess. 5:9. Rom 8:1.
2. Proofs That The Church Will not Pass Through The Great Tribulation.
a. Nature of The Great Tribulation: Proofs that the church will not pass through this period are:
i. Tribulation is a great day of God's wrath. Rev. 6:17; Isa.13:9; Romans 1:18; 2:5; 1 Thess. 1:10; 5:9; God does not pour his wrath on His obedient children 1 Thess. 5:9-10 but on the wiked Job 21:30-32, John 3:36; Romans 1:18; 2:8. Ephesians 5:6. The children of wrath. Rom. 9:22; Eph. 2:3. Children of disobedient Ephesians 2:2, Col. 3:6; Ephesians 5:6; backsliding children Jer. 2:19, 9 - children of perdition John 17:12; Jude 14-16.
ii. It is the time of Jacob's - Israel's trouble Jer. 3:7; Dan. 12:1; Matt. 24:21.
iii. It is a day of vengeance. Isa. 61:1-2; Acts 17:30-31. God does not take vengeance upon his children.
iv. It is the event which may take place any moment from now. Matt. 24:42-44.
v. It is the event which the saints - the born-again Christian everywhere in the world will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. 1 Thess. 4:17. First, those who died in the Lord will resurrect with spiritual body by which they will fly to the air. 1 Cor. 15:42:44.
vi. The enabling body: Before the living christians could be caught up to meet the Lord, they will be changed and given a glorified body to enable them fly in their air. 1 Cor. 15:51-54.
vii. The first resurrection and the Rapture will take place simultaneously cf 1 Thess. 4:16-17.
Viii. Time factor between the two - in the twinkling of an eye. 1 Cor. 15:52. The scriptures distinguished the time element in this way "The dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up with them to meet the Lord in the air." 1 Thess. 4:16-17.
ix. It is God's judgement upon wicked men, terrible things that had never happened will happen to them. Read Rev. 6:19. The church is not to be brought into judgment. It is done at Calvary John 3:18; Rom. 5:1, 8:1, 33-34, 1 Cor. 11:31-32; John 19:30.
b. The Promises of God in God's Word:
1 Thess. 1:10. This clearly shows that the true Christian - the Church will not pass through the great tribulation - the wrath of God to come. 2 Thess. 2:1, 6-8-7/ Only he who now letteth will let. This means He that restrains will still restrain or hinder till he be taken out of the way - rapture. So let nobody deceive you, no revelation of the man of sin until the church is taken up. What withhold him? The restrainer or the withholder in vs 6-7 is the Holy Spirit int he body of Christ - The Church. When the Church is taken out of the way, he will then be revealed. If the man of sin is not revealed, the Great Tribulation will not take place. This means we will not see the period not to talk of passing through it. Rev. 3:10-11. The word "I will keep thee from the hour" means the Church will not be allowed to see the period.
