YEAR OF THE GOOD FIGHT

Dusks and dawns fascinate me. Like the sun that signposts them, they are relentless. They slip in and sneak out - for the most part, unnoticed and uncelebrated, except on days we stamp as 'special'.

You know those days - your birthday or those of a loved one, wedding anniversaries, and such family landmarks. And of course, there are the more communal or even global observances marked by public or bank holidays.

Possibly, the most famous and widely acknowledged of them all is New Year day - today. Meaning that as I write this, 365 dusks and dawns later, 2023 is already history. 2024 is here and now.

Congratulations are in order, therefore, my beloved brothers and friends. The Lord God Almighty, faithful through the ages, has renewed our leases on this vast real estate known as the earth. He has given us a new song and dance - a new focus for a new phase.

Last year, we were instructed to revisit our love lives - love for Jesus, and for those made in the Father's image and likeness. So, we proclaimed 2023 as our year of 'Love Enthroned' and, beginning at MegaSummit 10 in May, we made 'how's your love life'? our greeting.

This year however, we are told that it's time to FIGHT. Fight the Good Fight is the instruction. It's a different kind of fight, however, because, it is the fight of faith! No bazookas, AK 47s or fighter jets required. Yet, Fight, it is.

Puzzled...that we are going from enthroning love smack into fighting? Initially, I was too...until I was led to two verses of scripture.

Apostle Paul told us in 1Corinthians‬ ‭13:13‬ that faith, hope and love endure and that of the three, love takes preeminence. He also taught us that faith works by love (see Galatians‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). So, we were equipped with love last year, to prepare us for a victorious Faith-weilding 2024! Just like our God! We shall, of course dwell more on these as the year unfolds.

Meanwhile, I pray that our new year be truly new and truly happy, in Jesus' name. Welcome to 2024, our Year of The Good Fight.
