My father in the Lord said something many years ago that has never left me. He said there are three things he is afraid of when he appears before God.
The first is that God will not tell him, “You did a very great job… however, you ran another man’s race.” All the energy, the talent, the giftings, the anointing — everything expended doing somebody else’s assignment.
The second fear is that he only scratched the surface of his calling. In other words, there was so much more he could have done, but he did not maximise the potentials God put inside him.
I pray earnestly that the Lord open our eyes to see the full scope of our callings, and give us grace to fulfil it. May we never run another man’s race.
Activity does not equal effectiveness. Doing something does not mean you are doing the right thing.
