MORNING TEA DEVOTIONAL

SUNDAY, 9TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: THE HEART OF A CHILD AS A GATEWAY TO GOD

SCRIPTURE: And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:1

WISDOM TABLET: Humility is a major mark of childhood.

Childhood is a world of innocence and openness. It is a world of great delight, beauty and excitement. Such a captivating world captures the very nature and ambience of the Kingdom of God. No wonder, the Master admonishes us to become like little children in order to enter the Kingdom of heaven.

Previously, we looked at the openness of a child. Today, we shall look at other characters of a child:

1. A Child has No Enemy:
A child has no capacity to make enemies or live in bitterness. If you offend a child now, he would return and play with you the next moment. The complication of bitterness, unforgiveness and offence deny people access to God and His kingdom.

2. A child has nothing to worry about:
A child lives in the realm of anxiety freedom; his life and future are literally in the Hands of God.

3. A child has no doubt.
A child believes everything absolutely; that is why we hear children say things like, ‘My father is going to buy me an aircraft.’ They believe it is possible even when the father is not financially buoyant.

Beloved, as a child of God, you need to believe God’s promises, and also believe His judgment (The reality of heaven and hell) and let that shape your life. Do not hear one thing in Church and do the opposite. You must come to the point where the Word of God for you is not negotiable.

4. A child cannot walk in pride. Humility is a major mark of childhood. A child does not have any personality to defend.

Beloved, you need to purge yourself of the monster called pride every single day of your life in order to have a place with God.

REMEMBER THIS: Humility is a major mark of childhood

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. If you have been doubting God’s Word, repent.
2. Do not negotiate your total surrender to God; live with the consciousness of eternity.

PRAYER: Lord, breathe upon me today. Cause my heart to be tender and separate me from things that keep me from You, Lord, in the Name of Jesus Christ Amen.

3 Early Morning Prayers To Secure This Week For Success In Your Life

1. Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I commit this week into Your hands. Direct every step I take, open the right doors before me, and lead me into divine opportunities. Let every decision I make align with Your perfect will, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

2. Psalm 90:17 (NKJV)
“And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.”

Prayer:
Lord, bless the work of my hands this week. Let every effort produce success, favor, and increase. Remove every spirit of delay and frustration, and crown my labor with outstanding testimonies, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

3. Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Prayer:
Father, go before me throughout this week. Strengthen me, protect me, and grant me victory over every challenge. Let Your favor surround me like a shield, and let this week bring good news, divine breakthroughs, and uncommon success, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

TOPIC: THE POWER OF CHILDLIKE FAITH AND HUMILITY

SCRIPTURE: And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:1

WISDOM TABLET: Any man whose life is filled with cover-ups has no future with God in this world and in the world to come.

From our Scripture today, Jesus made it clear that conversion to a little child is a condition for access into the Kingdom of God; it is a condition for audience with God. Anyone whose character is like that of a child will never struggle for audience with God both in this world and in the world to come.

Now, let’s look at one of the characters of children that an adult should emulate in order to access God in this world and in the world to come.

A Child Has Nothing to Hide

A child literally has no secrets; with a child, what you see is who they are. If a person must access God’s Presence on earth and access His Kingdom after this life, he must be in a realm where there is nothing to hide before God.

Any man whose life is filled with cover-ups has no future with God in this world and in the world to come.

The difference between Saul and David was that any time David did something wrong and God confronted him, he would admit it and ask for mercy but every time Saul did something wrong, he would give excuses and reasons to justify his wrong action (2Samuel 12;13 and 1Samuel 13;10-13).

Beloved, my counsel is, endeavour to be open before God; do not try to hide anything from Him so you can access His Presence and Kingdom. Is there any sin or guilt in you? Open up before God. Let humility rule.

REMEMBER THIS: Any man whose life is filled with cover-ups has no future with God in this world and in the world to come.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Confess your sin before God if there is guilt in your heart.
2. Determine to please God with your life always.

PRAYER: Lord, have mercy upon me. Cleanse me from every form of unrighteousness and open my heart to know and love You more, Lord, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
