OIL OF GROWTH DEVOTIONAL
THURSDAY, MAY 28
TOPIC: TAKING ACTION TOWARD PURPOSE
TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 2:31
“The Lord said to me, "See, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his country over to you. Now begin to conquer and possess his land."
In God’s divine strategy for His people, He declares success and grants the grace to occupy new territories long before the battle begins. When God establishes a covenant, no enemy—no matter how formidable—can withstand His people. Even the greatest strongholds are forced to bow. We see this when great kings like Sihon were delivered into the hands of the Israelites, who were a relatively small nation. This is the undeniable power of God at work.
However, we must understand a vital principle: even though God delivers the victory into your hands, you cannot remain passive. Divine delivery requires human cooperation. When the Lord told Israel He had delivered Sihon, He immediately commanded two specific actions:
1. Conquer: This represents the effort and the "fight." You must actively confront the challenges standing between you and the promise.
2. Possess: This means taking ownership and dwelling in the territory. After the victory is won, you must step in and manage what God has given you.
There are countless promises in Scripture waiting to be claimed. To enjoy them, prayer must be coupled with movement. You cannot pray alone and expect a harvest without sowing; you must take physical, bold actions. Do not let passivity deny you the blessings God has already released. Learn the wisdom of "faith in motion" today.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for the victories You have already won for me. I receive the grace and boldness today to move beyond prayer into purposeful action. Help me to conquer and possess all that You have destined for me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
