THE PLACE OF BELIEVE

“Unto you therefore who believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner” 1 Peter 2:7

Some may have been going to church for long but can't locate any virtue in their lives (they are as normal as they were before they met The Lord). Our opening verse shows us the reason for that. It tells us that unto the one that believes in Jesus, He will become precious. This means that when a man believes in Jesus he would reveal Himself to him. Many want to have a personal revelation of God before they0ppppp can believe in his existence or salvation. But that is not the heart that will receive from the Lord. “…for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6. The AMP rendering tells “for whosoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that he is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek him [out]”. Notice you are the one to seek him out with your belief.
The word 'believe' connotes accepting a thing as true, especially with absolute certainty. It involves total reliance. God's final destination by his works in our lives is to bring us to glory. For this reason 2 Peter 1:3 tells “according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and Godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”. If God has called us to glory and virtue then how is it that many of God's children don't see or experience this glory in their lives? The answer is often common and simple; unbelief. You see without faith, it just doesn't matter how long you’ve served in the house of the Lord, or how much you’ve prayed and fasted. The above scriptures tell us; you must necessarily believe that he is, and you must diligently and earnestly seek him.

LIFE OF GODLINESS

“and without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory” 1 Timothy 3:16

Glory! This is beautiful. The AMP rendering tells “and great and important and weighty, we confess,is the hidden truth (the mystic secret) of godliness. He [God] was made visible in human flesh, justifiedand vindicated in the [Holy] Spirit, was seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, [and] taken up into glory” Oh! Glory! You see, this is the reason why I cannot live a mediocre life. I cannot live an ordinary life; I am too loaded. Many of God's children have become so churchy today, we've got to go beyond our churchiness. Many have been in church for so longand have heard a lot of things in the house of God but they don't assimilate them to have these things run in them. If you are in this category, you've got to consciously walk out of that path; it's the part to destruction. Without Faith and reverential fear, it is impossible to receive from or please the Lord.Look at the details of our opening scripture. A mystery is something that is always communicatedthrough knowledge. Godliness is the life of God in man and our opening verse tells us that great is the revealing of the life God has brought to humanity. Oh! Little wonder 2 Peter 1:3 tells “according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us toglory and virtue:” Notice that everything that pertains to the life of God has been given to us; that mystic secret that was hidden for ages. For which course, God was made visible in the flesh. It has been revealed in the new creation. If the Godchild can only realize that he has received all that pertains to life and Godliness, he will never cower in fear or defeat instead he would rise and shine.

DECLARATION:I live the Zoe life. I am conscious of this fact and I exercise it today.

REFUSE FEAR!

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control." 2 Timothy 1:7 AMP

Psalms 23:5 says “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” The word 'shadow' implies a reflected image of someone or something – and when a shadow is seen, it means that the object itself is close by. So when David said 'though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death', you can tell he referred to a seemingly deadly situation. Glory to God! The new creation is alienated from fear and death.. Do you realize that we do not just have God with us, but we have God in us? The fullness of the GodHead dwells in you. With God in you there is no place for fear in your life. It is not the nature of your new life.
Your life is hid with Christ in God; therefore you are safe. Refuse to patronize fear and withdrawal in the face of challenges. The greater one is resident in you (1 John 4:4) – so if you fear, know that it was a choice you made. No matter how fearsome the challenge might be, go through it with the awareness that you are protected, guided and comforted on all sides. Recognize today that the devil is not happy just because you sinned but his happiness is because you have not come to a realization of who you are as a New creation; when you don't know who God has made you. This is what fear does; it keeps you from coming to a realization of who you are in Christ. Choose today to dispel the spirit of fear as you take up God's Word for you.

DECLARATION:
I refuse the spirit of fear because it is not a quality of the Spirit of God in me. I am more than a conqueror.

YOUR EYES OF FAITH

“For we walk by faith [we regulate our lives and conduct ourselves by our conviction or belief respecting man's relationship to God and divine things, with trust and holy fervor; thus we walk] not by sight or appearance”. 2 Corinthians 5:7 AMP

Isaiah 55:10-11 (AMP) makes us understand how God sees His words, He said “For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, so shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I PLEASE and PURPOSE, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Note that there is a pleasing and a purpose, which means that one has to be in sync with God; doing His will (soul winning) and having a relationship with Him.
This becomes particularly important for the Godchild in this day and age. Our world, systems of education and every thing around us teaches that conviction, is dependent on proof but with God the opposite stands true. He doesn't want you to wait till it has been proven; He wants you to believe as He has spoken. You see, this is the reason why the Godchild has got to let the Word of God season his mind. I love the way the MSG renders Romans 12:2 “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants and quickly respond to it. unlike the culture around you. always dragging you down to it’s level...God brings the best out of you...”
When God asked Abraham to leave his father's land to a land He would show him, Abraham didn't start by asking where the land was situated which would have been the first thought line of many, instead, he ran with the instruction. When others are saying there is a casting down, the Godchild ought to say there is a lifting up, not because he has seen the lifting up but because he operates by a different set of rules. You talk to become; you are the replica of the words you have spoken about yourself.

DECLARATION:
I use my tongue wisely; I am what God says I am. I do not conform to the standard of the world. I see through the eyes of faith.

YOU ARE A CITIZEN OF HEAVEN

“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;” Ephesians 2:19

Hebrews 12:22-23 reads “But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.” This is the family every Godchild is born into. If you are a child of God, you are a citizen of heaven. Zion is your home. The same way it's absurd for one to struggle to get into his homeland, no Godchild should struggle to enter Heaven. Unfortunately many believers live their lives like they are 'trying' to make heaven. 'Making heaven' is the uppermost thought in their minds, such that they neglect the lost ones they are to bring into the family. These Christians end up being sin-conscious instead of being God-conscious. If making heaven was God's singular purpose for you, you would have been taken to heaven immediately you were saved. Recognize today, that your citizenship is already written in heaven.
The Amplified rendering says “But rather, you have come to Mount Zion, even to the city of the Living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless multitudes of angels in festal gathering, and to the church (assembly) of the Firstborn who are registered [as citizens] in heaven and to God who is Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous (the redeemed in heaven) who have been made perfect.” The MSG rendering of the above text starting from the preceding verse says “… When they heard the words –“If an animal touches the mountain, it's as good as dead”- they were afraid to move. Even Moses was terrified. No, that's not your experience at all. You've come to mount Zion, the city where God resides…” Live in this reality. God expects more from you – you were left on earth for a reason. Reach the lost today and present them perfect in Christ Jesus.

ABSOLUTE TRUST!

“Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him…” Job 13:15

It takes a man who has a deep love, reverence and trust for God, to utter these words. Job as at the time had health issues, with his wealth and children gone, was being judged by his friends and was told by his wife to curse God – but with all these, he said “Even if God kills me, I have hope in him…” (Job 13:15 NCV). What a heart! Abraham trusted enough and was willing to kill his only son; Peter, James and John trusted enough and were willing to leave their 'fishing nets' and join Jesus to be about his Father's business; Noah and his sons trusted enough to build the ark, even though they were alone at it. These men trusted God without reserve. They were “out of their natural minds.”
Take time and reflect on your level of trust in God. Have you built trust in the Word of the Lord, or are you quick to discard God and His values when the going gets tough? Can you trust Him with such reckless abandon even when things are going wrong? Will your love and reverence still stand firm amidst the mockery and discouragement? Proverbs 3:5 says “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” When the scripture says 'lean not', it means that your own insight or understanding is not solid enough to carry you through. You may not understand His ways: still trust. He might seem far from you: remember He will never leave you, nor forsake you. God's Word is solid enough to carry you. Trust God's Spirit; obey His word and see yourself win in life.

DECLARATION:
Against all odds I'll keep trusting. I adhere to, believe in and rely on God daily.

STRENGTHENED IN YOUR INNER MAN

“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.” Ephesians 3:16

We often say, that the best quality a child of God can have, is self caution. In your walk with God, there comes a time when weakness occurs in your inner man. You perhaps did not sin, but your fervency just seems to have dropped and you are burnt out and there seems to be a strain in your service to God. This does not mean that you have sinned or that the Church thing is no longer for you. God being aware that at one point or the other we will go through this phase, gave us the solution in our opening scripture. It tells that being strengthened with might has got to be by the Spirit of God. John 14:27 (AMP) gives one of His qualities to be the Strengthener. He strengthens you and maintains that strength. He is also your standby; you see, at this point, The Spirit of God steps in to carry you.
This is why Apostle Paul admonished Timothy to continually stir up the Gift of God in him. The Spirit of God is a precious gift that has been given to the body of Christ, so that we can achieve great feats. If He isn't continually stirred up, the Spirit of God remains dormant in a Christian. When you get to such points where you think you can't go on – don't give up. Rather take some time and stir the waters within you. Speak in tongues, listen to messages or spirit lifting songs. Don't wait till you are weak either before you do these things - maintain the strength you've got. Always remember that God's strength is made perfect in your weakness. He doesn't condemn your weakness – but remaining in that state is so dangerous and could cause you to fall off the faith. Your pastors or leaders won't be there at all times to help maintain your stance; but the Spirit of God is ever present. Utilize the gift you've been given and learn to strengthen yourself.

DECLARATION:
I won't give up in my down times. I am strengthened and my strength is maintained by God's Spirit. His strength is made perfect in my weakness. Glory to God!

“Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.” Isaiah 60:4

Oh! How I love the Lord. He leads us in triumphant procession as sweet smelling savour of His splendor and victory in every place, You see, the one that serves the Lord can never be disadvantaged. It does not matter how you want to look at it, I serve a Faithful God. God assured Apostle Paul of this fact when he was in Corinth. Acts 18:10 says “For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee, for I have much people in this city.” The next verse goes on to tell us, that Paul stayed in the city for a year and six months. As we serve the Lord and go on missions/work for the Lord, there is always provision already in place for us. For every Mission/work that God gives a man, there are persons that have been strategically placed in that sphere of work to aid the man in the work. God will never give you a vision or task that you can accomplish on your own. You will always need persons to help you accomplish the mission. One may wonder if there are such helpers – the answer is yes, there are. Looking at the above scripture, you can tell that Paul’s success wouldn't have been possible if the "much people" weren't there to help him.
People have been made available to you. Do You know how you locate them? You locate them through the eyes of the Spirit, and pray them towards your direction. Our opening text says “Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee...” This invariably means that if you do not see them through the eyes of the Spirit, they won't come to you. It is also important to note that they won’t all come refined or renewed, so that neigbour beside you, who you think is not qualified, might just be what you need. You will have to travail till Christ is formed in them. This means training and praying for them till you see Christ in them as He is in you. This is how you birth sons. True sons will see the mission through till the end even in your absence. Don't rest on your oars, waiting for God to 'miraculously' bring them your way. Lift up your eyes round about: see them, pray for them and train them!

SONS ARE FOLLOWERS

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are they the sons of God.” Romans 8:14

There is the mindset you have got to imbibe in your work with God and with the leaders that have been placed over you. That is the mindset of followership. Notice that our opening text says “For as many as are led…” The word ‘led’ implies that there is a following after something. If you are being led, then it means you are following. You see, no child of God should lead himself. If you are leading yourself in the house of the Lord and in your walk with the Lord, then you've got to determine, whose son you are, because there is a leading for the sons of God. Your proof of sonship is in your ability to follow.
In the dispensation of Noah, there was a strong bond between fathers and sons. To the sons of that age, their fathers' words/instructions were likened to the instructions of God. So, no matter how absurd a father's instruction was, a son would have to adhere to it. So we understand why it was only Noah's sons (and their wives) that stuck with him during the building of the ark. They probably didn't like the idea of the Ark, or believe that God was really going to destroy the world. They must have been tired, discouraged and insulted by those around them – yet, they stuck with Noah for the singular reason that he was their father. No one else could follow Noah, but his sons did: and only they escaped the flood. We see the same attitude in Jesus when he walked on the earth; He wanted the cup of the Father to pass over him, but still submitted to the will of the Father.
This same attitude has to be in you! The same way the sheep knows the voice of their shepherd, and follow, you must recognize the voice of the Spirit of God and His leading in your life and follow. Recognize, that God speaks to and leads us through His Word, His Spirit and His leaders in your life. If you are His sheep, then you've got to incline your ears rightly to these three categories. If you are not a son, it's only a matter of time before you fall of the train. True sons will always be graced to do the work even in the midst of challenges and experience victory at the end. Be a son, be a follower!

DECLARATION:
I am led by God's Spirit. I hear and follow against all odds – not despising the authority he has placed above me.

CHEW ON THE WORD

“But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalms 1:2-3

The meditating process is synonymous with chewing. When you get a meal, you get to know how good the meal is not when you perceive it, or look at it. You find out how delicious the meal is when you chew. As you chew, you extract the juice from the meal. In the same vein, the only way to extract the juice (that is, the rhema) from the Word of God is by chewing (meditating). Meditation is a reprogramming mechanism by the Spirit of God. When you meditate on God's Word, you are engaging your mind to productivity. A Christian who has a meditative mind can never be futile. He is like that man our opening text tells us about; He would never run dry all season. The secret for productivity all season lies in giving yourself to meditating on the Word.
Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” What guarantees your prosperity and good success is the Word of God; but, the amount of God's Word that would produce in your life is directly proportional to the amount of His Word you have meditated on. You have got to let the Word remain in your mouth. This is dependent on how much and how long you have pondered (chewed) on it. For every time you meditate on a particular scripture, the Spirit of God begins to reveal more about that scripture to you. As you meditate on His Word, He reveals something new to you. Get the juice out of the scripture; chew on it.
