The Catholic Women Organisation, CWO, in the Catholic Diocese of Bauchi has marked the one hundred and sixteenth anniversary of the World Union of Catholic Women Organisations, WUCWO, with weeklong activities across the Diocese.
The celebration, which began on Sunday, 10th of May, 2026, featured colourful displays of faith, unity, and thanksgiving in different parishes, where women gathered in prayers, songs, and processions alongside priests during Mass celebrations.
This yearโs WUCWO theme focused on inner disarmament, defense of human dignity, and care for creation.
As part of the concluding activities, women from across the Diocese converged in Tafawa Balewa on Saturday, 16th of May 2025, for sporting activities, the Holy Rosary, and Holy Mass aimed at promoting unity and fellowship among members.
The football match was coordinated by the Diocesan Chaplain, Very Rev. Fr. Samson Habila Kodmi, while the Diocesan President, Ambassador Mrs. Pada, performed the ceremonial kick-off.
This was followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass.
Delivering his homily during the Mass, Very Rev. Fr. Samson Habila Kodmi urged the faithful to live righteous and love-filled lives, reminding them that everyone has a choice in life.

He also expressed appreciation and honour for women, including mothers, intending mothers, and deceased women.
The Mass ended with thanksgiving by the women.
A short programme held after the Mass featured a welcome address by the CWO Chairperson, Ambassador Lydia Pada, while cakes were cut and awards of excellence presented to selected women and dignitaries.
