Using people’s names to collect money and eat is not wisdom—it is wickedness.
It is not smart—it is sinful.
It is not survival—it is destruction in disguise.
📖 Psalm 24:3–4
“Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? …He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart.”
God is calling His people back to:
Clean hands
Honest dealings
Righteous gain
Because no money is worth losing your soul.

God calls it wicked balances—appearing right outwardly but corrupt inwardly.

3. *ILL-GOTTEN MONEY CARRIES A CURSE*

Money gotten wrongly never brings peace. It eats the conscience, troubles the sleep, and invites divine judgment.
📖 Habakkuk 2:6
“Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay!”
📖 Proverbs 15:27
“He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house.”
Such money may buy food, but it poisons the eater.
It may build a house, but it destroys the foundation.

_A man stole money and used it to cook a large pot of soup. Many people ate and were satisfied. But later, sickness broke out among them. The problem was not the soup—it was the source.
In the same way, money eaten from lies, false names, and deception may satisfy today, but it carries sickness for tomorrow—sickness of the soul, family, and destiny._

4. *GOD REQUIRES HONEST LABOR AND CONTENTMENT*

*INTRODUCTION*

In every generation, money has tested the hearts of men. Money itself is not evil, but the love of money and the crooked ways people use to get it have destroyed destinies, ministries, families, and souls.
We are living in a time when some people borrow the reputation, name, position, or influence of others to collect money—money they did not earn, money they were not sent to collect, money gotten through lies, manipulation, and deceit—and then they eat it, spend it, and justify it.
God is watching. Heaven is recording. And judgment is not asleep.

1. *MAKING MONEY THE WRONG WAY IS SIN AGAINST GOD*
God is the source of legitimate increase. Any money gotten outside truth, consent, and righteousness is an offense to God, even if society applauds it.
📖 Proverbs 10:2
“Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.”
Using someone’s name falsely to collect money is:
Stealing (Exodus 20:15)
Bearing false witness (Exodus 20:16)
Fraud and deception (Leviticus 19:11)
You may escape human eyes, but you cannot escape God’s scales.

DOES THE CHURCH NAME MATTER?

Text: Matthew 16:18; Romans 16:16
Introduction
Many people say, “The name of the church does not matter.”
But if the church belongs to Christ, then what we call it must matter to God.
1. Christ Is the Owner of the Church
Jesus said, “I will build My church” (Matthew 16:18).
The church was:
built by Christ
bought by His blood (Acts 20:28)
👉 What belongs to Christ should carry His name.
2. The Bible Shows the Church’s Name
Romans 16:16 says, “The churches of Christ salute you.”
This is not a denomination name — it is a description of ownership.
The Bible never names the church after:
a man
a doctrine
or a place
It points us back to Christ alone.
3. The Name Honors Christ and Prevents Division
Paul warned against church names that cause division
(1 Corinthians 1:10–13).
He asked, “Was Paul crucified for you?”
Only Christ died for the church — only His name should be worn.
4. The Name Shows Respect for Bible Authority
Colossians 3:17 says everything must be done in the name of the Lord.
Wearing a Bible name shows we want to:
follow Scripture
speak where the Bible speaks
Conclusion
The church name matters because:
Christ built the church
Christ died for the church
Christ owns the church
Therefore, the Bible points us to the church of Christ.
