DOES THE CHURCH NAME MATTER?

Text: Matthew 16:18; Romans 16:16
Introduction
Many people say, “The name of the church does not matter.”
But if the church belongs to Christ, then what we call it must matter to God.
1. Christ Is the Owner of the Church
Jesus said, “I will build My church” (Matthew 16:18).
The church was:
built by Christ
bought by His blood (Acts 20:28)
👉 What belongs to Christ should carry His name.
2. The Bible Shows the Church’s Name
Romans 16:16 says, “The churches of Christ salute you.”
This is not a denomination name — it is a description of ownership.
The Bible never names the church after:
a man
a doctrine
or a place
It points us back to Christ alone.
3. The Name Honors Christ and Prevents Division
Paul warned against church names that cause division
(1 Corinthians 1:10–13).
He asked, “Was Paul crucified for you?”
Only Christ died for the church — only His name should be worn.
4. The Name Shows Respect for Bible Authority
Colossians 3:17 says everything must be done in the name of the Lord.
Wearing a Bible name shows we want to:
follow Scripture
speak where the Bible speaks
Conclusion
The church name matters because:
Christ built the church
Christ died for the church
Christ owns the church
Therefore, the Bible points us to the church of Christ.
Invitation:
If you want to belong to Christ’s church, you must come to Christ His way.
“Let us be Christians only, and the church of Christ only.”

You say you know Jesus, does Jesus know you?
**You call him the way, yet you don't follow him- his ways
**You call him the light yet you don't see him
**You call him the teacher, yet you don't listen to him
**You call him Lord yet, you don't serve him in full
**You even call him the truth, but do you believe in him.
If you lack these things then don't be surprised if he doesn't know you==Matthew 21 said you should be mindful so that your efforts won't go to waste when you are told; *depart from me I know you not*

*A Deep Look at Freewill Giving*

It is a fact that Christians today are not obligated to follow the law of tithing as prescribed in the Old Testament. However, it's important to recognize that the principle of giving, historically set at around **10 percent**, has its roots even before the formal introduction of tithing.
Notably, Abraham exemplified this principle prior to the establishment of the law.

Unfortunately, many Christians today have lowered this benchmark, using the concept of freewill as a justification. I encourage you to reflect deeply on whether God, who established a 10 percent guideline under the law, would be content with receiving less during the era of Grace.

Consider this: Are you truly giving in proportion to your blessings? Perhaps you believe you are the owner of your wealth. I would argue that you are merely a steward; God is the true owner, and He has entrusted you with resources to manage for His purposes.

Some may think that without a set measure, their current giving is sufficient. However, the scripture in **1 Corinthians 16:2** reminds us that our giving should align with our income.
Your generosity reflects the love you have for God. If your love for Him surpasses your attachment to money, you will give joyfully and generously.
Conversely, if you prioritize your wealth—essentially, His wealth—you may give reluctantly, feeling burdened to contribute to the One who first blessed you.

A cheerful giver recognizes the privilege of supporting their Creator through the church, contributing to its mission and the betterment of humanity.

Take a moment to examine your heart. If your contributions have not exceeded the traditional 10 percent, you may be falling short in your duty to God.
Remember, the **love of money** can lead to a reluctance to give.

I have made a commitment to give generously to the kingdom, from the little I possess to all that I have, for the work of the vineyard.

There are widows and orphans in need around yo

Tithe payment is not for you and I
There is only one church; The church of Christ- Matthew 16;18, Ephesians 4;4,The ground and pillar of truth.
With it's doctrine founded on Christ and the Apostles,
It teaches according to the Bible, earlier we told the world "payment of tithe" is an instruction in the old testament and no longer binding on Christians and that every Christian is expected to give according to how they purposeth in their heart and willingly 1 Corinthians 16; 1-2 but the all brainwashed followers argued and fight. Now they end up being swindle for close to a century period. Now, from the same Bible their swindlers over full their belly and now suddenly turn around to accept and reveal that tithe is not compulsory or a license for eternal life.
We know this is the truth and nothing more, but we also know that it has been preached that way intentionally to make merchandise of their followers for those many years.2Peter 2;3
Sadly, that's not all. There are other means of extortion of these ignorant worshipers thru observance of all the categories of feast by the Israelites in the old. Well keep paying first until the time comes again when the prayer of Christ in John 17 shall be manifested in them.
My Friend, Christ did not give you those burden, he said his yoke is easy, right!
