Wisdom For Living

Life After The Cross 30

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
1 John 4:9 KJV

Finally, we have come to the end of this series. I believe it was impactful and very refreshing. As we wrap up this series on life after the cross, please take out time to meditate on the things you've learnt so far

Our minds don't get renewed just because we read it once but because we read it again and again. Our convictions are not formed by hearing it once but by hearing it again and again. This is very important.

Remember, the Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by God's Word. In other words, hear and keep hearing, never stop hearing God's Word. So, by the same token, go over this series again and again

The last reality of life after the cross is the revelation of the love of God. Those who lived before the cross knew the laws, rules, regulations and commandments of God. They knew about the holiness of God.

They knew about the justice of God and so on but they never knew that God was love. In fact, they held God accountable for everything that went wrong in their lives including the things they and Satan did.

But for those of us living after the cross, God has lavishly poured out his love on us and he wants us to know it and walk in the light of it. God wants us to know that he loves us very much. This is very important

This was one of the reasons Jesus hung on the cross; to prove God's love for us. He has already proven it. The Bible says that God demonstrated his love towards us in that while we were sinners, he died for us.

This is unconditional love unveiled to us. Those who lived before the cross had nothing like this. So, let's feed on the love of God and allow it well up on our inside until it begins to move and control us

Our opening scripture says in this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. So, we know God loves us.

There is no question anymore if God loves us or not. When we catch this revelation, the result is that our relationship with God will become very strong because we will in turn fall head over hills in love with God.

Then we will automatically begin to love other people because the river of love on our inside will begin to overflow to other people. Those who have received love find it easier to love other people genuinely.

Do you know that God loves you, do you know that he cares about you, do you know that he is concerned about you and that everything that touches you touches him? Begin to meditate on these truths.

It won't be long before your faith starts working like dynamite because faith works by love and your love for God and other people will become robust. God does not hate you, God loves you and wants you. Blessings!

Life After The Cross 29

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Hebrews 10:10 KJV

We have taken a long look at the realities of life after the cross and I believe we have learnt a lot thus far. Also, we have looked at the various differences between life before the cross and life after the cross.

When we don't know these basic truths, we may end up acting like those who lived before the cross and this is the reason so many Believers don't enter into the fullness of the blessings of the life after the cross.

We also established the fact that life after the cross is no just radically different from life before the cross but it a billion times better than life before the cross. We have seen the several advantages that we have.

The next reality of life after the cross is the foundation of an eternal sacrifice. The cross of Jesus was an altar where Jesus Christ was offered as the lamb of God and as an eternal sacrifice for all of mankind.

This eternal sacrifice is the foundation of life after the cross. It was a sacrifice that was made once and for all. There won't be any need for it to be made again because it effectively covered everyone for all times

Our opening scripture says by the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. You can see from our text that the offering of the body of Jesus Christ is once for all.

What does it mean by once for all? It means one sacrifice for all times and for all men. Unlike those who lived before the cross, the priest had to continually offer sacrifices to deal with the people's sins.

Those sacrifices lasted for a maximum of one year and they had to offer another one because those lambs were only a year old. The sacrifice expiated sins according to the age of the animal used by the priest.

Jesus had everlasting life and so when he went to the cross as the lamb of God to be sacrificed for our sins, his sacrifice for us became an everlasting sacrifice. There is no need for any other sacrifice from us.

One sacrifice for all times and for all men has handled all sins. This gives us great assurance that our relationship with God is established on a solid foundation not on yearly sacrifices that had to be repeated.

Anyone making any sacrifice for sin today is not functioning under the new covenant neither is he living in the reality of life after the cross. No more sacrifice is needed for sin today. Jesus paid it all and in full. Blessings!

Wisdom For Living

Life After The Cross 28

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
John 1:17 KJV

The scriptures declare that God's people are destroyed because of the lack of knowledge. This is very profound. The problem is not the lack of provision or the lack of power but the lack of knowledge.

Therefore, so much can be laid up for us in Christ Jesus and we may still be unable to access them without accurate knowledge. This is why we have been exploring the several realities of life after the cross.

The next reality of life after the cross is the revelation of the grace of God. The world at large had no relationship with God prior to the cross and the only people who had a relationship with God then was Israel.

Israel's relationship with God before the cross was based on the law. Therefore, no one knew nor experienced the grace of God amongst them. It was a law based relationship and it was a very difficult one.

God gave them several commandments, rules and regulations to keep as the basic condition to enjoying the blessings of God in their lives. It was a performance based relationship and the people failed woefully

Then Jesus came down to the earth and began to teach the truth about God. He began to introduce the grace of God to the people gradually although they were not open to it. Eventually he went to the cross.

Now, after the cross, the fullness of God's grace was poured out and revealed to those living after the cross. While those who lived before the cross lived by the law, we are expected to live by God's grace.

Our opening scripture says for the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Until Jesus came, all they had was the law but Jesus Christ brought the grace of God which is also the truth

The reason the Bible says grace and truth is because the law was a shadow not the reality of God. It didn't give us a perfect representation of God and the will of God for man. This is clear all over scriptures.

But grace gives us a perfect and complete revelation of the reality of God and his will for man. This is why our text calls it grace and truth, meaning grace and reality. Truth means reality, nothing more or less.

Our text is actually comparing the law and grace, these are the subjects of the verse. The conjunction 'and' in that verse actually means even or which is, therefore truth is not something different from grace here.

We can rephrase the text thus, for the law was given by Moses, but grace even truth came by Jesus Christ or for the law was given by Moses, but grace which is the truth came by Jesus Christ. Glory to God.

Now that grace has come, the truth has come and we need to live under the truth which is grace, let's not try to go back to the law and live under the law. Let's not try to practice a performance based lifestyle.

When relating with God, we don't relate with him based on our performance but based on Jesus Christ and his sacrifice or performance, this is the basic difference between the law and the grace of God.

Today, God blesses us because of Jesus Christ and our faith in Jesus Christ not because of us and our performance. This is the grace of God and when you begin to flow in it, you will enjoy God's abundance.

Many Believers are still trying to live by the law instead of the grace of God and they are struggling in their relationship with God. They need to open up to the grace of God by renewing their mind with the Word

Everything you need from God on this side of the cross will come to you through grace. Even the ability to live right and to do right will come to you through the grace of God. Stop struggling in your strength. Blessings!

Wisdom For Living

Life After The Cross 27

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16 KJV

The Bible is full of several blessings and promises but there are so many people who don't walk in these blessings and promises. This shows us that we have our own tole to play to walk in these blessings

The promises and blessings of God that are contained in the Bible will not come to pass just because they are in the Bible. They will come to pass if you take them from the Bible and keep them within you.

When you get these promises into your heart by meditation and confession, then they will begin to work for you..I am saying this because some people may see all the realities of life after the cross and sigh.

They may think that we are just fooling around with these things because they have not seen it work. But if you will get these truths into your heart, then the truth will work for you and then put you over.

The next reality of life after the cross is the fact that we have the mind of Christ. Now that we are born again, we are one with Christ and his mind has become ours as well. It is a complete spiritual union.

Our opening scripture says for who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. You can see that the Bible makes it very clear that we have the mind of Christ

What does this mean, it means that if we get this truth into our hearts and believe it, then we will function with the same mental capacity that Jesus is functioning with. We will exercise the same wisdom.

We will make the same quality of choices and decisions as we go about life. We will experience the same level of accuracy or precision. Adam had this kind of mind in the beginning and he functioned in it.

Well, how do you think he named all the animals that God brought to him and he did it perfectly without asking God? He was in union with God, therefore he had access to the mind of God. Hallelujah.

Also, how do you think Eve communicated with the serpent? She had the mind of God so she could tell what the serpent was saying to her. She could decode it and interpret it correctly. This is powerful.

Then she was able to respond correctly to the serpent in such a way that the serpent understood her. All these faculties were lost through the fall and those who lived before the cross had no access to them.

But thank God that Jesus Christ made it available for those of us who would live after the cross. He made it possible for us through his cross. Therefore, let's accept and get it into us and let it begin to work. Blessings!

Wisdom For Living

Life After The Cross 26

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Hebrews 5:9 KJV

Man was made in the image and likeness of God from the beginning and he had this vital connection with God that kept him spiritually alive. He had everything going smoothly for him in the garden of Eden.

Unfortunately, he was tempted by Satan to disobey God and he yielded to it and so he died spiritually and became disconnected from God. He couldn't relate with God as he used to, neither did he understand God.

Man became spiritually lost through his spiritual death or separation from God. He became subject to sin, sickness and all the evil things in this world. All he did to gain salvation before the cross failed him.

He offered sacrifices upon sacrifices, he made efforts upon efforts but he couldn't receive salvation from spiritual death and all it's consequences. The people of Israel had a very limited relationship with God.

Yet they couldn't access salvation because it was not available before the cross. Now the next reality of life after the cross is not just salvation but eternal salvation. This means permanent or everlasting salvation

Our opening scripture says and being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. This scripture says Jesus became the author of eternal salvation. Hallelujah!

Jesus is not just the author of salvation but he is the author of eternal, permanent and everlasting salvation. This means once you receive the salvation he brought to us, you will never need salvation again.

The salvation we received in Jesus does not finish or end or expire or get destroyed. It cannot be lost, broken or taken away. If words mean anything, this is what eternal salvation means. It is everlasting salvation

It was designed to last forever, you don't need to be saved daily or monthly or even yearly or every now and then. Once you receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, you are permanently saved. Hallelujah.

Now, this does not mean once saved is always saved. We need to clarify it. We need to know that we received salvation through Jesus Christ. What we came to the altar to receive was actually Jesus.

But when we received him; who is also eternal life, the result was salvation or eternal salvation. So, salvation came by receiving Jesus Christ and as long as you have Jesus Christ, you are forever saved.

This is the meaning of eternal salvation. However, if someone decides to reject Jesus Christ and walk away from him, then he has rejected or walked away from salvation. We need to understand this.

You can't lose salvation by committing sin or making a mistake but you can throw away or reject your salvation by rejecting or walking away from Jesus. This is why it is a grievous sin to go back to the world.

As long as you stay in Christ and maintain your relationship with Jesus Christ, you're forever saved or permanently saved and no sin can unsave you or take away your salvation or make you lose your salvation

Again, this is no encouragement of sin or iniquity because it has its consequences but taking away salvation is not one of such consequences. Jesus Christ is the central issue or hub of salvation not sin.

Someone may also argue that Jesus is the author of eternal salvation to those who obey him thinking it's saying those who don't commit sin. Well, I'm yet to meet the person who would say he doesn't sin.

I don't know anyone who fits the bill yet. However, those who obey him does not mean those who don't commit sin. It means those who obey the truth of the gospel by accepting and receiving it.

When we accepted, received and believed the gospel, it was counted as obedience. It is called obedience of faith. So, those who obey him are those who received the truth of the gospel, that is referring to Believers.

The Bible also calls unbelievers sons of disobedience because they have not believed the gospel and this is the sin that the Holy Spirit convicts them of, this is the sin that takes people to the lake of fire.

Therefore Jesus is the author of eternal salvation to Believers. It is very important for us to understand scriptures and to interpret them correctly. You are secure in Christ and your hope is unshakable.
Blessings!

Wisdom For Living

Life After The Cross 25

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind,

And write them in their hearts: And I will be to them a God, And they shall be to me a people:

And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, And every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord:

For all shall know me, From the least to the greatest.
Hebrews 8:10-11 KJV

The Bible compares the old and the new testament and tells us that the glory of the old is nothing compared to the glory of the new. We are told that the glory of the new outclassed the glory of the old testament.

The Bible says that the old testament or covenant ministered death while the new testament or covenant ministered life. So, this will help you appreciate life after the cross better. There is a clear distinction.

The old covenant represents life before the cross and the new covenant or testament represents life after cross. The next reality of life after the cross is the knowledge of God made available to us in our spirits.

Through the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross, it became possible for us to be born again and with the new birth comes the intuitive ability to know God and the ways of God deep in our hearts or spirits.

When we became born again, we became spiritually alive and we received the ability to know God which those who lived before the cross didn't have. Now, this explains why they related with God the way they did

Our opening scripture says for this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: This is very beautiful.

Then he continues and says and I will be to them a God and they shall be to me a people: and they shall not teach every man his neighbour, And every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: can you see this?

Finally he concludes and says for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. Hallelujah! As a Believer you have the inner ability to know God. You have the ability to know the voice and the ways of God.

All you need to do is to exercise yourself spiritually by engaging in basic spiritual disciplines such as prayer, the study of the Word, fasting and communion with the Holy Spirit and this ability will be activated.

Then you will begin to know certain things spontaneously without needing anyone to tell you about it but you knew it through the ability to know God and all things that you have in your spirit. This is great news.

How can you be deceived or manipulated if you function in this reality. As a Believer, the only way to be manipulated is to exalt your mind at the expense of your spirit. Give your spirit the ascendancy today. Blessings!
