CHRIST MESSAGE TO THE CHURCH AT EASTER
Matthew 28:2,5,6&7 says: "_And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back, the stone from the door, and sat upon it. And the Angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come: see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell His disciples that he is risen from the dead; and behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him: lo I have told you_."
Easter is a Christian celebration to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ who is the founder of Christianity. Resurrection of Christ from the dead is what made Christianity unique and different from other religions. Christianity is live, the founder, Jesus Christ is alive yesterday, today and forever; He's living in the heart of those who seek him in genuine repentance from sin.
We all know that the founders of the other religions died at one time or the other and have remained dead waiting for eternal judgment. That is the reason Heaven is always sad when true children of God make statements that, they are one with worshipers in other religion and serving one God. That statement is a lie from the pit of hell; let it be made clear to all our readers that true Christians are not serving the same God with members of other religion. We are not the same. We are not one. Our master Jesus Christ is alive; He is the only way to God the Father. No other way, No other name.
Christ's message to the church at Easter is to go and tell others and both the worshipers of other gods that He is alive. This is an urgent message which the church should carry out with all seriousness. Resurrection of Christ is not the season for "POPPORRI", IGBADU and "OWE-WE" dance. Christian celebrations have been hijacked and corrupted by electronic media houses, as they promote things that gratify the flesh instead of leading people to have good relationship with God spiritually. The unfortunate thing is that the organizers of these anti-resurrection activities are workers in their various churches. These activities are making Christ birth, death and resurrection of non effect, when it is supposed to be a period of sober reflection. Churches are to wake up and carry Christ message to the people.
In verse 2 of our text, which says "_behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it_."
We want our readers to know that the stone was not rolled away from the grave to enable Jesus get out of the grave but it was rolled away so that others can go in and see that Jesus has indeed risen from the dead just as He had promised. The angel who announced the news of the resurrection to the women told them not to be afraid as the reality of Christ resurrection brings joy not fear. Jesus is not in the grave and is not to be looked for among the dead people. Heaven is sad to see those that call themselves Christians seeking for Jesus among the dead by their life style. Are you sick, or afraid that you will soon die? The good news we have for you is that there is hope at your end; if only you will surrender your life to Jesus by confessing and forsaking your sins. We also want to let you know that death is not the end, there is a life after death and we are certain of believer's resurrection because Jesus rose from the dead. Are you spiritually dead? Another good news is that the power that brought Jesus back to life is available to bring all that are spiritually dead back to life. The resurrection is the basis for the church witness.
A song writer wrote: I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today; I know that He is living. whatever men may say I see I lis hand of mercy, I hear his voice of cheer, and just the time I need Him He's always near.
Rejoice. rejoice, O Christian lift up your voice and sing eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the king! The Hope of all who seek Him; the help of all who find; none other is so loving, so good and kind.
He lives. He lives; Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me a-long life's narrow way! He lives; Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives. He lives within my heart.
