Topic: THE POWER OF CHOICE PRT 2
Scripture: 30:19–20, Prov. 18:21
KEY VERSE
Deut. 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Humans are created with free will that works as power to choose. However, this freedom to choose is not without consequences. The choices you make in life can either make you or mar you. In fact, what you are today is a product of the choices you made many years ago.
The difference between a successful man and a failure is the quality of their choices. Successful men are those who make right decisions at the right time. Fortune smiles only on those who take right decisions when opportunities beckon. Opportunities, as they say, wait for no man. So, it is either you take it or it passes you by.
However, God is not in every so-called opportunity. The scriptures declare: “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Prov 14:12).
In view of the above, therefore, every Christian must pray daily for a sanctified desire and a discerning heart in making choices. In Gen 13:7–13, the Bible states that there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram and his nephew Lot. So, in order to avoid conflict, Abram gave his nephew the opportunity to choose ahead of him.
What followed was a bad commentary. Lot lifted his eyes and beheld the plain of Jordan, green and well watered, so he chose the region. That region ended up being the region of S***m and Gomorrah that God eventually destroyed because of their wickedness. Lot lost everything he laboured for when God destroyed the land with fire.
Dearly beloved, choose wisely with the leading and the fear of God.
Shalom.
