VISION SUNDAY – GOSPEL FIELD INT'L HEADQUARTERS

📖 Topic: Baptised Into the Vision — From Attendance to Assignment
📜 Texts: Exodus 14:19–20; 4:22–23; 1 Corinthians 10:1–2; 12:13–18; Deuteronomy 18:15; Acts 3:22; 7:37; Hebrews 9:14

🔷 INTRODUCTION: You Were Delivered to Serve!
📖 Exodus 4:22–23 — "Israel is my son, even my firstborn... let my son go, that he may serve me."
✳️ God didn't deliver Israel from Egypt just to give them FREEDOM — He delivered them for SERVICE!
✳️ The same is true for you — you were not just saved to attend church!
✳️ You were TRANSLATED into the body of Christ for a FUNCTION — a divine ASSIGNMENT!
✳️ Today we are moving from CONSUMER Christianity to COMMISSIONED Christianity!
✳️ The question is not "Are you saved?" — the question is "WHERE ARE YOU SERVING?"

🔷 1. The Pillar of Cloud Was an Angel — The Holy Spirit in Operation

a) The Pillar Was an Angel
📖 Exodus 14:19–20 — "And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them. And the pillar of the cloud went from before their face."
✳️ The people SAW cloud — but God reveals it was an ANGEL!
✳️ The pillar of cloud by DAY and the pillar of fire by NIGHT was a divine ANGELIC PRESENCE!
✳️ To the EGYPTIANS — it became DARKNESS — they groped, confused, unable to advance!
✳️ To ISRAEL — it was cool, refreshing, and PROTECTIVE! 🕊️
✳️ The same presence that CONFUSES your enemy COVERS you!

b) Paul Calls It Baptism
📖 1 Corinthians 10:1–2 — "Our forefathers were all under and protected by the cloud... and each one of them allowed himself to be baptised into Moses in the cloud and in the sea."
✳️ Paul makes a STUNNING statement — the children of Israel were BAPTISED into Moses!
✳️ Not BY Moses — but INTO Moses! Moses was a CONTAINER — they were immersed INTO his mandate!
✳️ The cloud did NOT touch them — the Red Sea waters did NOT touch them — yet Paul calls it BAPTISM!
✳️ So what kind of baptism is this?

🔷 2. What Baptism Really Means — The True Definition.

a) The Etymology of Baptizo
✳️ The Greek word BAPTIZO comes from the root BAPTIZMOS!
✳️ In the days of philosophers like Plato — it was not just about IMMERSION in water!
✳️ It meant to be INITIATED, SET APART, and CONSECRATED for a specific PURPOSE!
✳️ So when Paul says they were BAPTISED into Moses — it means they were INITIATED into Moses' MANDATE!

b) Moffatt's Translation Says It All
✳️ Moffatt's New Testament Translation puts it powerfully:
✳️ "We are all baptised into the MOSAIC INSTITUTION by the cloud and by the sea!"
✳️ They were SEPARATED from Pharaoh's RULE — CONSECRATED to Moses' COMMISSION!
✳️ Baptism is an ANNOUNCEMENT of separation from the world and ALLEGIANCE to the vision!

c) Moses Is a Type of Christ
📖 Deuteronomy 18:15 — "The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet... like unto me."
✳️ Moses himself prophesied that Jesus would come — ONE LIKE ME!
📖 Acts 3:22; 7:37 — Peter and Stephen both confirmed — Moses spoke of JESUS!
✳️ So to be BAPTISED into Moses is to be baptised into CHRIST — His vision, His mandate, His BODY!

🔷 3. New Testament Baptism — Finding Your Placement in the Body
a) By One Spirit We Are All Baptised Into One Body
📖 1 Corinthians 12:13 — "For by one Spirit are we all baptised into one body... and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."
✳️ Just as Israel was baptised into Moses by the CLOUD — we are baptised into Christ by the HOLY SPIRIT!
✳️ DRINK means to INTERNALISE — to take in the Holy Spirit's principles, purposes, and VISION!
✳️ The Holy Ghost takes the believer and PLACES him in the body of Christ to FUNCTION!
✳️ True baptism of the Spirit is not just speaking in tongues — it is DISCOVERING YOUR PLACEMENT!

b) The NYSC Illustration — Your Place of Primary Assignment.
✳️ When a corps member goes for NYSC — they don't choose their posting!
✳️ Federal Government PLACES them — even to remote areas, even across RIVERS by CANOE!
✳️ One corps member served in Kaba, Kogi State — travelling by BOAT, not knowing how to SWIM!
✳️ Did he refuse the federal government's posting? He WENT — because it was his place of PRIMARY ASSIGNMENT!
✳️ Yet in church — when the Holy Ghost places you in a department, people say "I can't serve there"!
✳️ If you can submit to a human government's posting — how much more to GOD'S PLACEMENT!

c) God Sets Members As It Pleases Him
📖 1 Corinthians 12:18 — "Now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him."
✳️ YOUR PLACEMENT is not your pastor's decision — it is GOD'S PLACEMENT LETTER!
✳️ The Holy Spirit placed you WHERE HE PLEASED — not where YOU chose!
✳️ When you rebel against your placement — you are not fighting your pastor — you are fighting the HOLY SPIRIT!
✳️ It reveals you are not yet FULLY BOUGHT IN to the vision!

🔷 4. Consumer Christianity vs Commissioned Christianity.

a) Most Christians Are Consumer Christians*
✳️ Consumer Christianity — come to church, hear the word, go home — that's ALL!
✳️ Many people think attending church IS serving God — IT IS NOT!
✳️ When you come to church — you come to be SERVICED!
✳️ The ones SERVING GOD are those FUNCTIONING in their placement!

b) Who Is Actually Serving God Right Now?*
✳️ The PREACHER — serving God in the office he was placed!
✳️ The USHERS — functioning where the Holy Spirit baptised them!
✳️ The MUSIC TEAM — they LEAD worship — you FOLLOW — they serve, you receive!
✳️ The MEDIA TEAM — baptised by the Holy Ghost to function in that office!
✳️ The DRUMMER, KEYBOARDIST — all serving by the baptism of the Spirit!
✳️ Those SITTING are not yet serving — they are being SERVICED!

c) Move From Attendance to Identification
✳️ You must move from ATTENDANCE — showing up — to IDENTIFICATION — finding your FUNCTION!
✳️ Attendance says "I came to church" — identification says "I AM the church"!
✳️ The body of Christ is an ORGANISM — it is ALIVE — every part must FUNCTION!
✳️ A body part that does not function is either DEAD or DISEASED — don't be a dysfunctional part!

🔷 5. The Purpose of Your Deliverance — SERVICE!

a) Israel Was Delivered to Serve
*📖 Exodus 4:22–23 — "Let my son go, that he may serve me."
✳️ God did not say — "Let my son go that he may be comfortable!"
✳️ He said — "Let my son go that he may SERVE ME!"
✳️ Deliverance was not the DESTINATION — SERVICE was!

b) Christ's Blood Was Shed to Produce Servants
📖 Hebrews 9:14 — "How much more shall the blood of Christ... purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God."
✳️ The precious blood of Jesus was not shed just to get you to HEAVEN!
✳️ It was shed to PURGE your conscience so you can SERVE the living God!
✳️ You were redeemed for FUNCTION — not just for FORGIVENESS!
✳️ Every believer is a SERVANT — the question is whether you are SERVING or just SITTING!

c) Baptism Into the Vision Means Buying In Completely
✳️ To be BAPTISED into Moses meant Israel was ALL IN for the MANDATE!
✳️ To be baptised into Christ means you are ALL IN for the VISION of the local assembly!
✳️ Not halfway in — not conditionally in — COMPLETELY IMMERSED in the vision!
✳️ When you are fully BOUGHT IN — you serve without being ASKED, give without being PUSHED, and commit without CONDITION!

🔷 6. The Body of Christ — An Organism with a Function.
📖 1 Corinthians 12:14–18 — "The body is not one member, but many... God hath set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him."
✳️ The body of Christ is first an ORGANISM — it is ALIVE with one SOURCE of life — Christ the HEAD!
✳️ It has STRUCTURE — every member in their PLACE!
✳️ It has SYSTEMS — every part working TOGETHER for one goal!
✳️ No part is UNIMPORTANT — and no part can say to another "I have no need of thee!"
✳️ Find your part — function in it — and the WHOLE BODY is strengthened!

🔷 FINAL CHARGE: Move From the Cloud to the Commission!
✳️ The cloud that followed Israel was not just for SHOW — it was the HOLY SPIRIT commissioning them!
✳️ You have been BAPTISED into Christ — now find your PLACEMENT and FUNCTION in it!
✳️ Stop CONSUMER Christianity — move to COMMISSIONED Christianity!
✳️ You were DELIVERED to SERVE — the blood was shed to produce SERVANTS not spectators!
✳️ Buy IN completely — immerse yourself in the VISION and watch God use you MIGHTILY!

MOVE FROM ATTENDANCE TO ASSIGNMENT — FIND YOUR PLACEMENT, SERVE YOUR FUNCTION, AND BE FULLY BAPTISED INTO THE VISION IN JESUS' MIGHTY NAME! 🔥

BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT - Pastor Efosa Asemota

Bullet Verse: Ephesians 5:18 KJV
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

It may shock you to know that the sensations people experience through alcohol, recreational drugs, or other similar substances engage the same physical faculties the Holy Spirit touches when you’re “drunk in the Spirit”. On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was poured out, onlookers mocked the disciples, saying things like “these men must be drunk” not realising such joy and ecstasy could only be achieved through fellowship with the Holy Ghost!

A drunk perceives his environment and responds under the influence of alcohol. When he talks, it's the alcohol talking. Similarly, being filled with the Spirit means to come under the influence of the Spirit–you see with the eyes of the Spirit and talk Spirit.

Beloved, when you’re filled with the Spirit, it’s like electric currents flow through your bones, blood, sinuses, and body, revitalising and strengthening every part of you! When you have Christ, there’s no need for substitutes. Empty yourself of carnal desires and distractions, set your sights above, and be filled with His Spirit!

FAITH DECLARATION:
The Spirit of Christ in me is like electrical currents running through my body! I empty myself and I allow Him to take control, I am strengthened and prepared to take on any challenge!
