For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

We saw from yesterday's devotional that he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Today, the Spirit of God takes us deeper into this same glorious reality. The bullet verse declares that we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. This is not poetic language; this is the absolute truth of our divine union with Christ.

The word “members” means parts and limbs of the body. That means your legs are Christ’s legs; your hands are His hands. Your physical body is the very extension of Christ in this world. You are not merely connected to Him spiritually; you are inseparably fused as one with Him. In you, Christ is fully represented, fully expressed, and fully manifested. He walks in you, talks in and through you, and works in and through you. This is the biggest thing about our salvation. Not only was your spirit recreated, but you were immersed into Christ. You became literally joined together with Him as one divine creation. The Church is His body, and you are a vital part of that body. Without you, the body is incomplete. Jesus is the Head, and we are His fullness—the fullness of Him that fills all in all.

Think about it: the Lord is not ashamed of this union. Despite everything He knows about you, He celebrates His oneness with you. He has given you His Name to live by. You carry His life and divinity in you—spirit, soul, and body. You are a God-carrying vessel. Wherever you go, you are the limbs of Christ. You are the expression of His reality, His grace, His glory, His kingdom, His power, and His personality.

Beloved, stop seeing yourself as ordinary. Refuse to accept sickness, failure, or limitation. You could not be one with Him—members of His flesh and of His bones—and remain defeated. His life in you perfects you through and through. Walk as the physical expression of the resurrected Christ on the earth.

FAITH DECLARATION:
I am a member of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones! My legs are Christ’s legs; my hands are His hands. I am inseparably fused as one with Him. Christ is fully expressed and manifested in me. He walks in me, talks through me, and works through me. I am a God-carrying vessel, the expression of His reality, grace, glory, kingdom, power, and personality. Glory to God!

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

This is one of the most profound revelations of the New Testament, the reality of our divine union with the Lord. Christianity is not mere religion; it is the living, vital, inseparable oneness of the believer with Christ. When you were born again, something supernatural happened: your spirit was recreated and literally joined to the Lord. You became one spirit with Him. This oneness was God’s dream from the beginning, and it has been fully realized in Christ. The Holy Spirit is the One responsible for this union. Just as Jesus declared, ‘I and my Father are one’ (John 10:30), so you have been brought into this divine oneness through the Spirit. You are no longer separate from Him. You have been immersed in Christ; you are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones (Ephesians 5:30). You are inseparably united with Him—an inextricable oneness.

It's not a mere association. It is a divine connection, a mingling of spirits. The Bible says you are a God-carrying vessel: “for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them…” (2 Corinthians 6:16). Jesus Himself affirmed it: “I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you” (John 14:20). That means you are in the Father in Jesus Christ, and He is in you. What a glorious reality!

You are connected through the Holy Spirit to the unlimited power of God, with limitless possibilities and unending glory. You share His life, His nature, His authority, and His victory. Sickness, failure, and defeat have no place in you, for you are one with the resurrected Christ. Through the Spirit, the glories of His resurrected body are made available to your physical body.

Beloved, this is the greatest news of the Gospel: not just that your sins are forgiven, but that you have been brought into total union with Christ. You are an associate of the God-kind. Celebrate this oneness. Walk in the consciousness of it every day. You are not alone; you can never be alone. He lives in you, walks in you, and manifests Himself through you. Hallelujah!

I am joined to the Lord and one spirit with Him! I am inseparably one with Christ—a member of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. Christ dwells in me, and I in Him. My sufficiency is of God. FORGIVE! - Pastor Efosa Asemota

Bullet Verse: Colossians 3:13 TLB
"Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others"

The Greek word translated ‘forgive’ is 'charizomai', from 'charis', which means grace. It carries the idea of wholeheartedly, freely, or readily forgiving, with no restraints or strings attached. Just as God has extended His grace to us so many times by freely forgiving us of our sins against Him, now the Holy Spirit instructs you and me to extend forgiveness to those who have wronged or offended us. Regardless of what the person did wrong or what concrete evidence you might have against that individual, the scripture commands you to forgive. “...the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive" (Colossians 3:13). And isn’t it true that this is exactly what Christ did for you?

In light of how graciously God has forgiven us, it’s difficult for me to imagine why any of us would refuse to forgive someone else for an offense. Certainly, we are all guilty or worthy of blame! How could we ever forget that it was for our dreadful sin that Jesus died on the Cross? Jesus bore unspeakable suffering by taking on the punishment He didn’t deserve—we deserved it instead! And He did that for us freely and wholeheartedly.

Paul urged us, "...to forgive as Christ forgave us." You and I didn’t deserve the forgiveness we received, but God forgave us anyway. He forgave us for all we have done in the past, and His mercy is so boundless that He even made room for our excesses in His forgiveness. Now we who are forgiven have a responsibility to forgive! Make room for people's excesses, forgive ahead!

FAITH DECLARATION:
Today, I make the choice to forgive. I choose to let go of the situation or person whose actions have held me captive. I forgive by faith and by an act of my will. I refuse to be influenced by my feelings, and I release all the anger, resentment, shame, guilt, and pain that I have carried. I declare that I am now free!

DON'T TAINT YOUR FAITH - Pastor Efosa Asemota

Bullet Verse: Hebrews 12:15 KJV
"Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;"

Jesus said, "Betrayals are inevitable.." As long as we live in this body, our love and trust for people will sometimes be betrayed, and we may be hurt, some deliberately, some might just be an honest mistake, others out of selfishness and a lack of consideration. Some of the wounds caused by the actions of friends and loved ones can be very deep. You might be tempted not to let go, and can become toxic and poison your soul. Such hurt, when you don’t let go of it, will keep you stuck in a cycle of pain and bitterness.

Paul said, in the bullet verse, "....., lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.” First, the phrase ‘springing up’ comes from the Greek word 'phuoo'. This word depicts a little plant that is just starting to sprout and grow. It’s a small seedling that is just beginning to peek out through the soil. However, the very fact that it’s peeking through the ground and becoming manifest, or apparent, means there was a seed hidden in that soil from which this new growth emerged.

This is a very significant picture. It tells us that bitterness doesn’t overwhelm us all at once, shouting, “I’m here!” Instead, it grows a little here and a little there until it finally becomes a huge, ugly growth that defiles our entire lives — and even the lives of others.

Bitterness usually starts peeking up out of the depths of our souls in the form of negative thoughts about another person, or a sour, sharp, distrustful, and cynical attitude toward someone who has offended us. If the root is not quickly uprooted and removed, that root of bitterness will eventually grow into a full-blown tree that produces bitter, wounding, hurtful, and scornful fruit for everyone who eats of it.

The word ‘trouble’ comes from the Greek word 'enochleō', which means to trouble, to harass, or to annoy. It refers to something inside that bothers and upsets you so much, you are constantly pestered by thoughts about it. In fact, your whole life is haunted by these persistent, troubling thoughts. What you have allowed to take root and fester inside your soul has now become a major nuisance to your peace, keeping you upset and emotionally torn up all the time. If I may ask: Do you have a grudge against someone that “gnaws” at you all the time? You might not even be fully aware a nasty seed of bitterness has taken root in the recesses of your soul. There are signs to know; every time you see a particular individual, do you feel something sharp and ugly inside? When you hear about that person being blessed, do you wonder how God could possibly bless him?

The word ‘defiled’ comes from the Greek word 'miaino' which means to stain with paint or dye of another colour, and by extension, to taint, soil, or tarnish. Bitterness will taint your faith, it will paint your life with the colour of hate and ungodly, poisonous anger. These bitter roots are not just annoying — they are very dangerous. It can hinder you from experiencing God’s grace, blessings, and favour.

Beloved, you need to get a grip on yourself and let the Holy Spirit help you permanently rid yourself of this destructive seed of bitterness before it destroys you.

FAITH DECLARATION:
Lord, I ask You to please forgive me for allowing negative thoughts about others to consume me. Even though I don’t like what they did to me, I have no right before You to be bitter and resentful. I realize now that I am acting ugly inwardly, just as they acted outwardly. In Your eyes, I have sinned and fallen short too. I am truly sorry for allowing these attitudes to grow inside me and hinder me from your best for my life. To the best of my ability, I turn right now from the wrong thoughts that have been consuming me, and I choose instead to speak well of those who have offended or hurt me. Holy Spirit, help me uproot those wrong feelings from my heart and replace them with love and forgiveness instead. In Jesus name, Amen

4. Replace bitterness with love: Whenever negative thoughts about the person arise, deliberately respond with God’s Word, prayer, love, and forgiveness. Refuse to allow bitterness to taint your faith and affect your relationships.

If you are angry, don't sin by nursing your grudge. Don't let the sun go down with you still angry-get over it quickly; for when you are angry, you give a mighty foothold to the devil.

Anger is not a toy; it is a door. The moment you nurse a grudge, you hand the adversary a mighty foothold in your life. The bullet verse puts it plainly; don’t let the sun go down with you still angry. Why? Because prolonged anger is an invitation to the devil. He does not need much space; a little foothold is enough for him to establish a stronghold of bitterness, strife, and destruction.

Look at Moses. The meekest man on the face of the earth allowed anger to rule him for a moment, and that single moment cost him entrance into the Promised Land (Numbers 20:1-12). The wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God (James 1:20). Your anger will never produce God’s will; it only produces regret, broken relationships, and lost destinies.

You have the nature of the Father. The love of God has been shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Ghost. Therefore, refuse to give place to the devil. When offence comes, and it will come, choose the higher way. Walk in love. Get over it quickly! Do not wait until tomorrow. Do not sleep with that bitterness. Before the sun sets, release it. Forgive as Christ has forgiven you. Put off anger the same way you put off an old garment. You have the authority to do so because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

Beloved, anger against people should have no place in your life. It is connected to pride, and pride always precedes a fall. Today, make a quality decision: “Anger will never rule me. Bitterness will never find a home in my spirit. I get over it quickly!” Walk in the light of this truth and the devil will find no foothold in your life. Glory to God!

FAITH DECLARATION:
In the Name of Jesus, I refuse to nurse any grudge. I get over every offence quickly. The love of God dominates my heart, and I give no place to the devil. I walk in divine peace, joy, and righteousness every day. Amen.

DON'T LET YOUR FIRE GO OUT - Pastor Efosa Asemota

Bullet Verse: Matthew 5:15 KJV
"Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house."

The word “bushel” in the bullet verse is from the Greek word "modios"— a peck, or a container made of solid material used to scoop and measure grain. Well, it wouldn’t make any sense to put one of these “bushels” over a lamp, because, if kept over a lamp for a while, it would deprive the fire of oxygen and eventually, that jar would smother the fire and completely put it out, unless that was the intention.

This is what the devil tries to do to Christians; he knows we are a mighty force of influence. He knows we are graced and commissioned by God, with the partnership of the Holy Ghost to change the world around us. But just about the time we begin to step out in faith in a certain area to let our light shine, he says, "Who do you think you are? What makes you think you're so special, you think you can make a significant impact on society, have you looked at your life lately? You sinner, a flat–out failure, get back under the bushel where it’s comfortable and no one can see you make a fool of yourself." The devil will do all to assail your mind, he is a liar and the father of lies. That is the best time to shut him up, step out in faith, and arise and shine. What did Jesus say about the best way to let our light shine? He wants us to put our lamps “on a lampstand” so that “it gives light to all who are in the house."

Beloved, the Holy Spirit is both the oil and oxygen you need to burn with the intensity of God's glory. When you become born again, the oil of the Holy Spirit fills you, enabling you to “let your light shine." But the degree to which you illuminate and bless others has much to do with your position of faith and trust that God can and will use you!

FAITH DECLARATION:
I refuse to let any circumstance or challenge smother the light of God in me. I am a burning and a shining light. I'm growing in Grace and influence! In Jesus' name, Amen.
