Sent to Light Up the Dark Places
For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14)
God’s plan is to have the whole earth saturated with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is His power to save those that believe (Romans 1:16). Sadly, there are places where the Gospel is yet to take root in the hearts of men; there you’d find cruelty and wickedness in operation. In Psalm 74:20, the psalmist refers to such places as ‘the dark places of the earth.’ The good news is: God already provided a solution; He sent His Word (Psalm 107:20).
God’s solution was packaged in a human being - Jesus Christ, the incarnate Word of God. That’s why Jesus said, “I am the light of the world…” (John 8:12). Interestingly, He said to us the very thing He said about Himself: “ye are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). This means that as He was the solution to the darkness, so are we. We are now God’s answer and solution. No wonder He said “...As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you” (John 20:21).
He has given our lives a meaning, and has sent us as lights to bring illumination to the lives of those in our world. This is your calling. If there was darkness somewhere, when you show up, the darkness and cruelty are dispelled. Don’t be quiet. Light your world today by taking the life-giving Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the unsaved in your world and beyond. Hallelujah!
