He said nothing for over an hour. He kept his calm. But don't assume he felt nothing.

Sometimes a man is not silent because he is weak. He is silent because he knows exactly how much damage his words could cause if he answered from his pain.

He is not only hearing the insults; he is conscious that his children are sitting there listening. He may be thinking, “Is this how my children will remember their father?” He feels exposed and reduced in the very home where he should feel respected.
