REPORT ON HCA VISIT TO VIVIAN OGU MISSIONARY ANIMATION CENTRE
The Holy Childhood Association (HCA) visitation to the Vivian Ogu Missionary Animation Centre was successfully held with the participation of children, animators, and guests from various parishes. The parishes includes St. Augustine Catholic Church,
Catholic Church of Ascension,
Ascension Cate. Church Airport road,
St Fidelis Aduwawa.
The program was organized to encourage the children spiritually, morally, and academically while promoting missionary consciousness among them.
One of the major activities of the event was an inspiring talk delivered by a guest speaker on the topic “Living Mission Where You Are.” The speaker explained that missionary work does not only mean travelling to distant countries, but also living a good Christian life in everyday surroundings such as the home, school, church, and neighborhood. The children were encouraged to show love, kindness, obedience, honesty, and care to people around them. They were reminded that they can preach the Gospel through their good behaviour, respect for others, and willingness to help at home and in school.
The animator from St. Augustine also encouraged the children to always be obedient to their parents, elders, teachers, and all constituted authorities. She advised them to avoid bad company, disrespect, and immoral behaviour. Furthermore, she encouraged the children to learn one trade or handwork from their parents or guardians, explaining that such skills would be useful to them in the future and help them become responsible and hardworking individuals.
The high point of the event was the celebration of the Holy Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Stephen Dumbiri. In his homily, he encouraged the children to always ask God for whatever they desire with faith, trusting that God grants all good requests according to His will. He also urged them to live lives of sacrifice, truth, and holiness. Using the example of Vivian Ogu.

LIVING-MISSION – WHERE YOU ARE
By: Onosodere Eloto Antonia
A talk delivered to Holy Childhood Association members who visited The Vivian Ogu Missionary Animation Center on the 16th May 2026.

Living mission where you are is the idea that you don’t need a plane ticket to do mission work. It is about treating your ordinary environment, home, school, neighborhood, WhatsApp groups as the place where God can be seen. You don’t have to travel far to be a missionary. Mission starts with loving the people God put next to you every day. It comes from a simple reality: most people you will influence are already in your daily path. Also, missionary starts at home by noticing when your siblings or parents are stressed, doing chores without being asked, forgiving quickly, listening and obeying your parents and neighbours.
What “living mission” means for kids: Sharing God’s love by what you do and who you are. It’s not only for priests, sisters or people in other countries. Jesus told all of us, “Go and make disciples.” For you, “going” can mean your home, classroom, playground and even your phone. Missionaries far away help kids who don’t know Jesus, while missionaries at home help people around them feel loved, safe and noticed. Both are important and God also uses both.
THE MOST COMMON PLACES YOU CAN LIVE MISSION RIGHT NOW:
1) AT HOME:
Your family sees the real you. Help without being asked, set the table, fetch water, look after younger siblings, say sorry first when you are wrong, assist your parents or guardian in their businesses and also pray for your family at night.
2) AT SCHOOL & WITH FRIENDS:
This is where most people spend their day. Don’t join in teasing or gossip, be honest in classwork and games. If a friend is sad, listen instead of ignoring them. Reading and doing your assignment, avoid stealing and lying, never engage in examination malpractice or cheating, preaching in assembly ground and introduce your Catholic faith to the school.
3) ONLINE & IN YOUR COMMUNITY:
Send kind messages in your group chats, don’t share or spread rumors, greet your neighbours and help when you see some
