EDSCIA Pays Courtesy Visit to Senior Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Affairs

The Executive Council of the Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs (EDSCIA) paid a courtesy visit to the Senior Adviser to the Governor of Edo State on Islamic Affairs.
During the visit, the Council congratulated the Senior Adviser on his appointment and expressed its readiness to work closely with him in promoting peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence, as well as advancing Islamic activities and development across the state.
In his response, the Senior Adviser warmly welcomed the members of the Council and appreciated them for the visit. He pledged to work diligently, to the best of his ability, towards promoting and enhancing the development of Islamic affairs in all areas across Edo State.
As an immediate demonstration of his commitment, he constituted a three-man committee to explore avenues for raising funds towards the completion of the EDSCIA Secretariat before December this year.
The visit concluded with prayers for Allah's guidance, protection, wisdom, and strength for the Senior Adviser as he assumes his new responsibilities, and for continued peace, unity, and progress in Edo State.
The Council expressed its appreciation for the warm reception and looks forward to a fruitful and mutually beneficial working relationship with the Senior Adviser in the interest of Islam and the people of Edo State.

EDSCIA Defends Edo Hajj Board Composition, Urges Okpella Ulamas to Prioritise Muslim Unity

The Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs, EDSCIA has defended the composition of the newly constituted Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, describing it as fair, inclusive and broadly representative of the diverse Muslim community across the state.

The Council's position followed concerns raised by the Okpella League of Ulamas over the composition of the Board. In a statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Nosakhare Abdulazeez Igbinidu, FCA, EDSCIA acknowledged the right of the Okpella Ulamas and other communities to express their views, but maintained that the 26-member Board could not practically accommodate direct representation from every town, clan or community in the state.

According to the Council, the three Senatorial Districts are represented on the Board, alongside major Islamic organisations, traditional institutions and Muslims from different ethnic groups, towns and communities. EDSCIA further noted that the present administration had created other avenues for representation through various appointments, including opportunities extended to members of the Okpella community.

EDSCIA therefore appealed to the Okpella League of Ulamas and other Muslim stakeholders to place the unity, peace and collective interest of the Ummah above ethnic, sectional and geographical considerations. The Council urged all stakeholders to support the newly constituted Board in discharging its responsibilities, particularly in promoting the welfare of intending pilgrims and the advancement of Islamic affairs in Edo state.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to unity, fairness, justice and peaceful coexistence among Muslims in Edo State, while calling for constructive engagement, dialogue and cooperation in the spirit of brotherhood.

The Chairman and some Executive Members of the Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, the Otaru of the Sacred Kingdom of Auchi, Alhaji Haliru Momoh, at his palace earlier today, 30th May 2026.
It was a joyous moment to see His Royal Highness in good health and high spirits.
Those present during the visit were: Alhaji Abdulazeez Igbinidu, Chairman; Prince (Dr.) Suleiman Momoh, 1st Vice Chairman; Dr. Suleiman Ikhuoria, 2nd Vice Chairman; Dr Hussein Momoh, Financial Secretary; Ustaz Ismael Nabala, Auditor; and Barrister Sani Muhammed, Official Member.

EID AL-ADHA MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN EDO STATE COUNCIL For ISLAMIC AFFAIRS

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
On this special occasion of Eid al-Adha, I extend warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah and to all people of goodwill.
Eid al-Adha reminds us of the profound lessons of faith, sacrifice, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS). It is a clarion call for us to renew our trust in Allah, strengthen our devotion, and uphold the values of obedience, humility, and sincerity.
As we celebrate, let us embrace the spirit of sacrifice by showing kindness to one another, supporting the less privileged, and promoting peace, unity, and compassion within our communities. In a time when our society faces many challenges, these values are more important than ever.
It is also important to remind ourselves to adhere strictly to the tenets of Islam and to avoid practices that are contrary to its teachings.
May Allah accept our acts of worship, grant us forgiveness, and bless our homes and our nation with peace, stability, and prosperity.

EID-UL-FITR MESSAGE TO THE UMMAH

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah who granted us the opportunity, strength, and guidance to witness and complete the blessed month of Ramadan. May His peace and blessings be upon our noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW), his family, his companions, and all who follow his noble path until the Day of Judgment.

Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,
As we mark the end of the sacred month of Ramadan and celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today, 20th March. 2026, I extend my warmest greetings to the entire Muslim Ummah in Edo State and beyond.

We pray that Almighty Allah accept our fasting, prayers, charity, and all acts of worship performed during Ramadan. We also pray that He, in His infinite mercy, forgives our shortcomings and grants us the rewards of Ramadan.

Eid-ul-Fitr is not only a day of celebration but also a reminder of the virtues we have cultivated. That is :piety, patience, self-discipline, compassion, and generosity. Let us strive to sustain these noble qualities beyond Ramadan and reflect them in our daily lives.
I urge all Muslims to continue in acts of righteousness, uphold unity and peaceful coexistence, and extend kindness to one another, especially to the less privileged in our society. Let us also remember our responsibilities towards the growth and development of our communities and our dear state.
As we celebrate, I encourage moderation, gratitude, and adherence to the teachings of Islam. Let us celebrate in ways that are pleasing to Allah and avoid all forms of excesses.
