What makes you a true Christian

Today, as we reflect on this sacred Good Friday, I share this song in humble remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On this day, He laid down His life and shed His precious blood for the remission of our sins—redeeming us from condemnation, delivering us from destruction, and granting us the gift of eternal life.

Through the blood of Jesus Christ, we have received priceless benefits: forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, victory over sin and death, healing for our souls, and the assurance of eternal life. His blood speaks mercy over judgment, brings us peace where there was enmity, and secures our salvation by grace.

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

May this song stir our hearts to deeper gratitude, renew our faith, and remind us that our Christianity is not just by words, but a living reality shaped by His sacrifice.

Let us remain sober in spirit, thankful in heart, and steadfast in His love.

1️⃣ Who Was Valentine?
Saint Valentine was a Christian priest (some say a bishop) who lived in Rome around the 3rd century (around 269 AD) during the reign of Emperor Claudius II.
According to historical accounts:
Emperor Claudius banned young men from marrying because he believed single men made better soldiers.
Valentine secretly performed Christian marriages for young couples.
He was arrested for his Christian faith.
He was executed (martyred) on February 14.
Before his death, tradition says he wrote a note signed,
“From your Valentine.”
He was known for:
Courage
Love for Christ
Commitment to marriage
Sacrifice
2️⃣ What Was His Way of Life?
Valentine lived:
✝️ As a committed Christian
💍 As a defender of marriage
❤️ As a promoter of sacrificial love
🔥 As someone who chose obedience to God over fear of government
His life was not about romance in the modern worldly sense.
It was about faithfulness, purity, and covenant love.
John 15:13
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Valentine demonstrated this kind of love.
3️⃣ Why Do We Celebrate Valentine?
Originally:
It was a Christian remembrance of a martyr.
It honored love, faith, and marriage.
Over time:
It became commercialized.
It shifted toward romantic love.
In many places, it has become worldly and sometimes immoral.
So today, Valentine’s Day is largely seen as:
A day of love
A day of romance
A day of gifts
But many people have lost the original spiritual meaning.
4️⃣ As a Christian, How Should We Celebrate Valentine?
This is very important.
Romans 12:2
“Be not conformed to this world…”
Valentine should not be:
A day of sexual immorality
A day of pressure and comparison
A day of lust or sin
Instead, it should reflect God’s kind of love (Agape love).
✝️ For Singles
As a single Christian:
✔ Celebrate God’s love for you first
✔ Show love to family, church members, and the needy
✔ Use the day to pray for your future spouse
✔ Maintain purity and self-control
Do NOT: ❌ Feel pressured into relationships
❌ Engage in sexual sin
❌ Compare yourself with others
1 Corinthians 6:18 — “Flee fornication.”
Valentine is not a deadline for marriage.
💍 For Married Christians
As a married couple:
✔ Celebrate your covenant
✔ Appreciate your spouse
✔ Pray together
✔ Renew commitment to each other
✔ Spend quality time together
Hebrews 13:4
“Marriage is honourable in all…”
It is a good day to:
Express gratitude
Strengthen emotional intimacy
Rekindle affection (within marriage)
🔥 In This Present Dispensation
We live in a time where:
Love is confused with lust
Commitment is replaced with feelings
Marriage is dishonored
So as Christians:
Valentine should become a day of:
❤️ Covenant love
✝️ Christ-centered affection
🙏 Prayer and gratitude
🤝 Acts of kindness
You may even turn it into:
A family love day
A church love outreach
A day to visit widows and orphans
A day to reconcile broken relationships
That would truly honor Christ.
Final Thought
The greatest Valentine is Jesus Christ.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world…”
Before we celebrate romantic love, we must celebrate redemptive love.

Finally it has come and gone
All glory to the Lord who made it possible. I encourage to be in the spirit of divine security
God will never leave you or abandon you, just believe and trust in Him.
