*When You Seek Him Early*
*Focal Scripture:*
Luke 24:1–10 ERV
"Very early Sunday morning, the women came to the tomb where Jesus’ body was laid. They brought the sweet-smelling spices they had prepared."
In our previous devotional, we established that those who seek the Lord early shall find Him. Seeking God early is more than a religious routine; it is a deliberate decision to put God first and invite Him into the affairs of our lives.
When a person seeks the Lord early in life and early each day, he gives God room to intervene, direct, and take charge of his affairs.
God desires to be involved in our lives, but He does not force Himself upon us. Jesus said:
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock..." — Revelation 3:20
He waits for us to open the door.
This is why daily fellowship with God is so important. Whether through personal devotion, family devotion, or corporate fellowship, when you give God the first part of your day, you are deliberately giving Him access to the rest of it.
So, what are some of the benefits of seeking the Lord early?
1. Obstacles Are Rolled Away*
The women in our text went to the tomb very early in the morning. They had a legitimate concern: Who will roll away the stone for us? Yet when they arrived, they discovered that the stone had already been rolled away.
They did not know how it would happen, but God had gone ahead of them.
There are things you may encounter during the day that you do not yet know about. There are challenges you cannot foresee, decisions you will have to make, and battles you may not even know are waiting for you.
But when you seek God early, you begin your day in His presence.
Some stones are rolled away in the place of fellowship before you ever encounter them on the road.
Sometimes, what you call “a lucky escape” may have been divine intervention. What you thought was a coincidence may have been God going ahead of you.
This is why we must not be in such a hurry to begin the day that we have no time to meet with the One who created the day.
Before you meet people, meet God.
Before you face the demands of the day, face God.
Before you make decisions, seek His wisdom.
Before you step out, allow Him to go ahead of you.
You may not know what is waiting for you outside, but God does.
Seek Him early, and receive the grace, wisdom, direction, and strength you need for the day.
Daily Task
Beginning today, make seeking the Lord early and daily a necessity, not an option. Give God the first moments of your day and allow His presence to influence everything that follows.
Hallelujah!
*Prayer Focus:*
1. Father, I thank You for the gift of another day and for preserving my life.
2. Father, give me the grace to seek You early and daily.
3. Lord, go before me today and roll away every obstacle standing in the way of Your purpose for my life.
4. Father, give me wisdom and direction for everything I will encounter today.
5. Thank You, Lord, for answering my prayers.
*Declaration:*
I receive grace to seek the Lord daily and early. God goes before me, every obstacle is rolled away, and I walk in His wisdom, direction, and protection today, in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
