CRUMBS OF LOVE

"And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores." -Luke 16:21
When I read our anchor Scripture, I found out why Lazarus could not enjoy anything beyond crumbs. The Bible said, "And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table..." That was his desire. That was all he longed for.
Brother Lazarus, why didn't you reach out for more? Don't you know that crumbs were meant for dogs? No wonder the dogs feasted on him because he stooped too low to eat what belongs to them.
Nobody eats dog's food and walks away without paying for it! How do I know that crumbs rightfully belong to dogs? "And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs." - Mark 7:28
The Bible said in Romans 5:5 [AMP], "Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us."
God's love does not come to us as crumbs. It is poured out to us because God has more than we could ever long for and He wants us to be satisfied with His love. Yet, the dogs desire the crumbs of love that this world entices them with.
Someone may ask, what is wrong with the crumbs of love?
1. It is a small piece and can only be described as lust because it cannot satisfy anyone. When you go for crumbs, you end up with lust instead of love and crumbs are released to make you more and more hungry because it cannot satisfy.
No wonder people who go for these crumbs continue to indulge in sinful habits in search of satisfaction until they are destroyed. Dictionary defines lust as a craving for s*x. It leaves one with a strong desire to satisfy self.
2. Crumbs are always found on the ground and nobody can guarantee you of clean crumbs. That's why dogs go for crumbs because outside the Kingdom of God are dogs. (Rev. 22:15)
What kind of love would you rather have? Crumbs or an Overflowing love? As God's image and likeness, you deserve the love of God that overflows within your heart until you are saturated and then become a distributor of this love.

Father I thank You for Your love that is poured out for me. I refuse to belittle myself to eat from the crumbs of lust. Help me to live today to glorify You in Jesus' Name!
