Who Is Shaping Your Life?

Jeremiah 17:9 — "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

A young eagle wanted friends. One day, it met a group of crows. They laughed together, flew together, and the crows convinced the eagle to stop soaring so high.

"Why fly so high?" they said. "Stay low with us. It's easier."

The eagle listened. Day after day, it flew lower. It stopped hunting like an eagle and started feeding on scraps with the crows. Soon, it forgot the strength of its own wings.

One day, a violent storm came. The crows panicked because they could not fly above the storm clouds. Many were scattered by the wind.

An old eagle flying high above the storm saw the young eagle struggling.

"You were born to rise above storms," the old eagle called. "But you chose companions who taught you to stay low."

The young eagle gathered its strength, spread its wings, and soared higher than it had in years. Only then did it realize that the company it kept had nearly cost it its purpose.

The people in your inner circle shape your thinking, your decisions, and ultimately your destiny. Not everyone who smiles at you wants the best for you. As Jeremiah 17:9 reminds us, the human heart can be deceptive. Choose companions based on character, not charm. Walk with people who strengthen your faith, sharpen your wisdom, and encourage you to become who God created you to be.
