‎RCCG OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SUNDAY 23RD AUGUST 2026
‎AUTHOR : PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE

‎TOPIC: PRAY FOR YOUR CHILDREN

‎MEMORISE:
‎As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
‎Psalm 127:4

‎READ: 1 Kings 1:15-31

‎MESSAGE
‎In 1 Kings 1:1-42, one of King David’s sons decided to crown himself king by staging a coup to overthrow his father. Solomon’s mother was informed of the development, so she went to David and reminded him that he had promised that her son would succeed him as king. That same day, Solomon was crowned king, meaning that Israel had three kings on that fateful day: David, Solomon, and the son who decided to make himself king. Solomon might not even have been aware of the events that led to his coronation; however, because his mother rose and entreated the king on his behalf, he was crowned king.

‎There are certain things that children might miss if their parents don’t rise to pray for them. A child may not know his or her left from right and may not even be qualified for an exalted position; however, his or her parents’ prayers can elevate that child into that position. The authority that parents have over their children, both naturally and spiritually, is great, and they must learn to use it effectively. Any parent who does not pray for his or her child is like a mother hen who watches as a hawk carries her chick away, leaving the chick to fight for itself. The chick lacks sufficient strength to fight a hawk; however, if its mother joins in the fight, it would have a better chance of being saved.

‎If you are a parent, do not keep quiet over your children’s destiny so that the devil will not tamper with it. Cry out to God to show your children mercy early in their lives. In Psalm 90:14, Moses prayed that God should satisfy him and the children of Israel early with His mercy so that they would rejoice and be glad all the days of their lives. He knew that the secret to lasting joy and gladness was to start enjoying God’s mercy early in life.

‎Beloved, if you are a parent, do not neglect your spiritual responsibility over your children. Like Moses, ask God to show your children His mercy early in their lives. Let your prayers position them for opportunities early in life. Your children will begin to enjoy supernatural favour that some people only get to experience as adults if you pray for them now. I pray that God will shower His mercies over you and your household, in Jesus’ name.

‎KEY POINT
‎Parents should not neglect their spiritual responsibility over their children.

‎BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
‎Lamentations 3-5

‎HYMN: GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH!

‎1. Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah!
‎Pilgrim through this barren land;
‎I am weak, but Thou art mighty,
‎Hold me with Thy powerful hand:
‎Bread of heaven! Bread of heaven!
‎Feed me now and evermore.

‎2. Open Thou the crystal fountain,
‎Whence the healing stream doth flow:
‎Let the fiery, cloudy pillar
‎Lead me all my journey through:
‎Strong deliverer! strong deliverer!
‎Be Thou still my strength and shield.

‎3. If I tread the verge of Jordan,
‎Bid my anxious fears subside:
‎Bear me through the swelling torrent,
‎Land me safe on Canaan’s side:
‎Songs of praises! songs of praises!
‎I will ever give to Thee.

‎4. Saviour, come! We long to see Thee,
‎Long to dwell with Thee above;
‎And to know in full communion,
‎All the sweetness of Thy love.
‎Come, Lord Jesus! Come, Lord Jesus!
‎Take Thy waiting people home.

Not every conversation deserves your response.

‎Not every disagreement deserves your energy.

‎Not every relationship deserves unlimited access.

Not every battle deserves your attention.

Some battles only drain your strength, steal your peace, and distract you from what God has called you to do.

Protect your peace. Protect your purpose.

Choose wisely where you invest your energy.

‎RCCG OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SATURDAY 22ND AUGUST 2026
‎AUTHOR : PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE

‎TOPIC: BREAKING COVENANTS II

‎MEMORISE:
‎Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
‎1 John 4:4

‎READ: 2 Corinthians 5:17-19

‎MESSAGE
‎Years ago, one of my daughters in the Lord came to me and said, “Daddy, a young man approached me and said he wants to marry me.” I congratulated her, but she replied, “Daddy, my father told me that I was dedicated to a river goddess when I was born, and a covenant was made that whoever I marry is going to die on our wedding day. I don’t want the young man to die.” | told her that I know someone stronger than the river goddess. We prayed a simple prayer, and she left. The next time I saw her, she was happily married and already had a baby. I declare that any evil force that might be hindering your progress is destroyed today, in Jesus’ name.

‎A new and greater covenant can cancel a previously existing one. For instance, if you want to break a covenant with someone, all you need to do is enter into a covenant with someone greater; the greater fellow can release you from the lesser person’s covenant by force. If a person enters into a covenant with the devil, the moment he or she enters into a covenant with God, He will wipe out all evil covenants from the fellow’s life.
‎God’s covenant is superior to any other covenant. Our God is stronger than the strongest; therefore, once a person enters into a covenant with Him, He will bind any strong man who was previously in charge of the fellow’s life and throw him out.

‎It is also important to note that the devil still seeks to retain his strongholds in the lives of people even after they have become born again. A stronghold is a deeply entrenched evil pattern that the devil has instilled in a person, and it must be addressed. Otherwise, the person will continue to operate under its influence even after he or she has become born again. Such strongholds typically include bitterness, pride, generational curses, anger, and other similar issues.

‎Beloved, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 urges us to pull down strongholds and cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. If you are a party to any evil covenant or are under the influence of any demonic stronghold, cry out to God today to deliver you by His mighty power. I join my faith with yours and decree that you are completely free from any evil covenant or demonic stronghold that might be in your life, in Jesus’ name.

‎KEY POINT
‎Having a covenant with God annuls every evil covenant in a person’s life.

‎BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
‎Lamentations 1-2

‎HYMN: IN CHRIST ALONE

‎1. In Christ alone my hope is found
‎He is my light, my strength, my song
‎This Cornerstone, this solid ground
‎Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
‎What heights of love, what depths of peace
‎When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
‎My Comforter, my All in All
‎Here in the love of Christ I stand.

‎2. In Christ alone, who took on flesh
‎Fullness of God in helpless Babe
‎This gift of love and righteousness
‎Scorned by the ones He came to save
‎‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
‎The wrath of God was satisfied
‎For every sin on Him was laid
‎Here in the death of Christ I live, I live.

‎3. There in the ground His body lay
‎Light of the world by darkness slain
‎Then bursting forth in glorious Day
‎Up from the grave He rose again
‎And as He stands in victory
‎Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
‎For I am His and He is mine
‎Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

‎4. No guilt in life, no fear in death
‎This is the power of Christ in me
‎From a life’s first cry to final breath
‎Jesus commands my destiny
‎No power of hell, no scheme of man
‎Could ever pluck me from His hand
‎‘Til He returns or calls me home
‎Here in the power of Christ I stand.

‎RCCG OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR FRIDAY 21ST AUGUST 2026
‎AUTHOR : PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE

‎TOPIC: BREAKING COVENANTS I

‎MEMORISE:
‎But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?
‎Ezekiel 17:15

‎READ: 1 Samuel 2:27-31

‎MESSAGE
‎God is faithful; He never breaks His promises, nor does He go back on His word. James 1:17 says that there is no variableness nor shadow of turning with Him. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and He never breaks His covenants. However, if a fellow breaks a covenant he or she has made with God, then God is under no obligation to keep His part of the covenant.

‎In Numbers 25:6-13, God made a covenant of eternal priesthood with Phinehas, Eleazar’s son, because, in his zeal for the Lord, he struck a man and his concubine dead. However, in today’s Bible reading, God told Eli, “I entered into a covenant that you and your father’s house will stand before Me forever, but since you have broken the covenant, I am saying, let it be far from Me.” Eli’s carelessness annulled the covenant God made with his ancestor, Phinehas. As a result of the broken covenant, God’s hedge of protection departed from Eli’s household, and his two sons died on the same day. When Eli heard the news of their death, he also died that same day, along with the wife of one of his sons. This illustrates the importance of a covenant and that the consequence of breaking one is usually death.

‎The death of a person who is a party to a covenant typically releases such a person from fulfilling his or her part in the covenant; however, God remains faithful to His covenants, even after a person He is in covenant with dies. Deuteronomy 1:2 says that He keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commandments to the thousandth generation.Exodus 34:Z tells us that He keeps mercy for thousands. When you keep your covenant with God, it will extend to your descendants. When God promised Abraham that through his seed, all the nations of the earth would be blessed (Genesis 22:18), that promise found its ultimate fulfilment in Jesus, who came 42 generations after Abraham, approximately 2,000 years later. When God promised David that he would always have a seed to sit on the throne (Psalm 89:3-4,29), He never broke His side of the covenant. That covenant was also fulfilled in Jesus.

‎Beloved, remain faithful to your covenant with God, for in doing so, you will release immeasurable blessings upon yourself and your descendants for generations to come.

‎KEY POINT
‎God is faithful; He never breaks His covenants.

‎There are gifts you haven't fully expressed, ideas you haven't developed, territories you haven't entered and possibilities you haven't considered.

Your current situation is not the final chapter of your story.

God is still working. What you see today is only part of the picture.

Keep trusting, keep growing, and keep becoming who God created you to be. 🙏🏽

‎RCCG OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR THURSDAY 20TH AUGUST 2026
‎AUTHOR : PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE

‎TOPIC: GOD’S COVENANT OF PROSPERITY

‎MEMORISE:
‎But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
‎Deuteronomy 8:18

‎READ: Job 36:11-12

‎MESSAGE
‎When you enter into a covenant with the Owner of the earth and the fullness thereof (Psalm 24:1), the One who owns all the gold and the silver (Haggai 2:8), He will prosper you and add no sorrow to it (Proverbs 10:22).

‎The devil often lures people into entering into a covenant with him by promising them great wealth. However, such prosperity always comes with many sorrows. I recall the story of a man who went to a herbalist and entered into a covenant with demonic forces so that he could become incredibly wealthy for seven years, after which he would die.He swallowed a charm the herbalist gave him, but he didn’t get rich; instead, he had a seven-year countdown to his death. A few days before the seven years expired, the man ran into the church and told us his story. We told him to give his life to Jesus Christ, and He would protect him. He agreed, and we prayed a simple prayer with him. Right there, in the presence of everyone in the church, he vomited what he had swallowed. We rejoiced with him, and for a while after that, he attended church services regularly. After some time, however, he stopped coming, so we decided to conduct a follow-up.When we visited him, he said that the herbalist had told him he had swallowed the first charm incorrectly, so he gave him another one to swallow. Before long, he became wealthy. When the seven-year period stipulated by the covenant was close to expiring, he thought to himself, “The covenant is here in Nigeria. I will travel to London, and the demons won’t be able to reach me there.” Unfortunately, he died on a plane as he flew to London. Only God’s covenant of prosperity will make a fellow rich and add no sorrow with it.

‎Malachi 3:10 is a vital part of God’s covenant of prosperity. When you pay your tithe, God will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing upon you that will be so great that you will not have enough room to contain it.Furthermore, Proverbs 3:9-10 encourages us to honour God with our firstfruits. God doesn’t need money; He can provide for anything He wants to do, but He asks to be honoured. Beloved, once you are in covenant with God, He will always provide for you and make sure that you never lack. May your life always reflect the blessings of the Lord, in Jesus name.

‎PRAYER POINT
‎Father, please help me to honour You with the resources You bless me with.

‎BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
‎Jeremiah 50

‎ HYMN: THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

‎1. “There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing:”
‎This Is The Promise Of Love;
‎There Shall Be Seasons Refreshing,
‎Sent From The Saviour Above.

‎Refrain:
‎Showers Of Blessing,
‎Showers Of Blessing We Need;
‎Mercy Drops Round Us Are Falling,
‎But For The Showers We Plead.

‎2. “There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing”
‎Precious Reviving Again;
‎Over The Hills And The Valleys,
‎Sound Of Abundance Of Rain.

‎3. “There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing;”
‎Send Them Upon Us, Oh Lord!
‎Grant To Us Now A Refreshing;
‎Come And Now Honour Thy Word.
