Show Your Love by Being Gentle
BY RICK WARREN — MAY 3, 2023
FROM THE KEYS TO A BLESSED LIFE

“A gentle answer quiets anger, but a harsh one stirs it up.”

Proverbs 15:1 (GNT)

Gentleness diffuses conflict. It disarms critics. It’s persuasive. It’s attractive. And gentleness communicates love.

If you’re married, the quickest way to improve your marriage is to start talking to your spouse more gently. It’ll do wonders! How many married couples could benefit from Proverbs 15:1, which says, “A gentle answer quiets anger, but a harsh one stirs it up” (Proverbs 15:1 GNT)? Any fool can be selfish. Any fool can be rough. Any fool can be rude. But a gentle answer goes a long way.

In any marriage you’ll hurt each other emotionally many times—so a great marriage is simply the union of two great forgivers. I’ve been married to Kay for more than 40 years. I’ve hurt her so many times, and she’s hurt me so many times. But we’re both great at forgiving. That’s a part of gentleness.

Gentleness is not only the key to an effective marriage; it’s also the key to effective parenting. If you’re a parent, never discipline out of anger or frustration, but always gently and out of love. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:4, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger . . . but bring them up [tenderly, with lovingkindness] in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (AMP).

I can honestly say to you that I never remember my father raising his voice against me growing up. Was he ever upset with me? Of course. Did I ever really blow it and give him every reason to be angry? Many, many times—almost on a daily basis! But he was a gentle man. He had strength under control, and he would not yell at me. He showed me his love through his gentle nature.

Let your gentle response do the same in your relationships.

Whether or not you’re married or have children, the principle is the same for all relationships. Remember, “A gentle answer quiets anger, but a harsh one stirs it up” (Proverbs 15:1

GOD PLANNED YOUR LIFE ~ Dr. Myles Munroe

the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being (Genesis 2:7).

If you feel good about yourself, you will feel good about other people. In other words, only after you see yourself as a worthwhile
person can you appreciate others as worthwhile people.

Many people do not feel good about themselves. They look at themselves and wonder why God made them; or they doubt that any- one can find any good in them. But remember, God sees what others, and we ourselves, can’t see. God looks at us and sees that we are worth feeling good about. We are special to God. We are valuable and important.

God has a good attitude toward you. He created you in His image and drew you out of Himself. Before you were born, you were
in God. Part of His potential has been placed within you.
There could not be a beginning without God, because God got start started. Before start started, however, God had a finished plan
for your life. Your potential is not a trial and error experience. God designed and predetermined you to be a success story.

Psalm 139 tells us that God planned each of your days before you were even born. Before you were formed, God knew you. He took great care in creating you. No part of your being was made without God’s knowledge and careful concern. God wants each of us. He gives us what no other part of His creation received: His
breath of life (see Genesis 2:7).

Have you ever felt like you were a mistake? Have your parents told you they wished you had never been born?
Are you a child whose parents have told you: “I wish you would have died when you were a baby”?
You may be a bastard, conceived out of wedlock. Being omnipotent, God had the power to prevent your conception. Yet God allowed
it because He wanted you to show up. You are here because God wanted you to be born. How you came isn’t important. What matters
is that you are here. And

Where to Find Financial Security
BY RICK WARREN — APRIL 29, 2023
FROM THE KEYS TO A BLESSED LIFE

“My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:19 (ESV)

Where do you find your security?

Putting your trust in your bank account, your job, or your investments is a recipe for heartache. Why? Because you can lose all of those things.

You need to find security in something that cannot be taken from you: God! If you want God’s blessing on your life, you need to learn to trust in God’s wealth and not your own.

Here’s what the Bible says about God’s wealth: “My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19 ESV).

Your job may be where you get your income, but it shouldn’t be your security. Your job is a channel, but God is your source. If you understand this, you’ll have so much less stress in your life. Let me say it again: Your job is a channel, but God is the source of your supply.

If you turned on the faucet in your kitchen and no water came out, what would you do? Would you say, “Oh, the world has run out of water! There’s no water coming out of the faucet, so there must not be any left in the whole world”?

Of course not. You’d know the problem is not with the source. There’s plenty of water in the world. The problem is the channel; it’s gotten blocked one way or another.

It’s the same way in your life. If one channel gets blocked in your life and the “faucet” stops working, it doesn’t mean the whole supply has dried up. God can easily turn on another faucet.

God is not limited by your ability and capacity. You may be limited by your own capacity in the work you do. But your job is not what ultimately supplies your needs. Your job is just a channel for God to supply your needs.

If you think that your job is what keeps you financially secure, then you’re going to feel insecure your entire life. You need to understand that God is the source of y

You Need to Grieve Life’s Losses
BY RICK WARREN — APRIL 30, 2023
FROM THE KEYS TO A BLESSED LIFE

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens . . . a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4 (NIV)

Life is tough. The world is broken, and nothing works perfectly. Your body doesn’t work perfectly, the weather doesn’t work perfectly, the economy doesn’t work perfectly, and no relationship works perfectly. Life is full of losses.

As you learn to rise above life’s inevitable losses, you need to understand a couple of truths that will give you better perspective.

First, God doesn’t expect you to be happy all the time.

There is this myth that Christians should be always smiling, always happy, always cheerful.

But the Bible says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens . . . a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4 NIV).

Sometimes the only appropriate, logical response to life is grief. The Bible says you should grieve over your losses, including your disappointments, your sin, the suffering in the world, and your friends who are spiritually lost. God doesn’t expect you to be happy all the time. In fact, he wants you to be intentional in your grief.

Second, grief is essential to your health.

If you never grieve over anything, it means one of three things: You’re out of touch with reality, you’re out of touch with your own emotions, or you don’t love. When you love and you see sad things, grief is a natural response.

Grief is a healthy and helpful emotion. And it’s God’s gift that helps you get through the transitions of life.

Maybe you were hurt many years ago growing up. Maybe your parents divorced. Maybe you were abused. Maybe you were hurt by something somebody said about you. As a child, you didn’t know how to grieve in a healthy way, so you just pushed it down deep inside you.

LOOK WHAT YOU'VE GOT!
We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may
understand what God has freely given us (1 Corinthians 2:12).

It’s mind blowing to think that God has given us His Spirit so we can understand all the things He oozed into us!
There are things about you, concerning who you can be, that you haven’t discovered yet—holy things that only the Holy Ghost can
explain. God reveals His deep things to you through the Holy Spirit because He knows you would not believe them if they were simply
told to you through your mind. Your mind cannot possibly comprehend all that God has prepared for you to be.

Forget what others have told you about who you can be. That’s a joke. Don’t even consider it. That is not all you can be, because the
deepest things you can know about yourself are not in your mind or your emotions or even in your body. They are in your spirit. The
deepest things you can know about yourself are what you get from your spirit.

That’s why God gives you the Holy Spirit. The Spirit goes deep inside you to capture the wealth of your potential. He pulls deep from within you the answers to your spirit’s cries, showing you who you are and why He created you. You will never be fulfilled until you
understand why God made you.

Many people get bored coming to church. They get tired of singing and tired of praying. Why? Because there’s more than coming to church…there’s more than singing…there’s more than praying. When you hunger for the deep things of God, a hunger that God Himself puts within you, you will not be satisfied until the Holy
Spirit reveals God’s secret wisdom to you.

Your spirit yearns for the deep things of God that He has within Him about you. There is a
deep in you crying out to the deep things in God. You will never be satisfied, even after you are saved, because there is something inside
you that continually calls out for more. And the thing you are calling for is locked up in God the wisdom of
