A hymn is a religious song of praise, written to adore a deity or express reverence for a prominent figure, and ultimately to express devotion, prayer, or worship. Derived from the Greek word "hymnos," meaning "song of praise", hymns have roots in many ancient cultures and are a significant part of Christian worship, used to teach theology, foster unity, and provide hope and comfort to believers.
Unfortunately, singing of hymns is fading out, and in places where it is sung, it is more of entertainment with the introduction of percussions which most times erodes the uniqueness of the hymn, the audience attention is now fixed on the percussion, not on the words in the song. Ignorantly we are losing the solemnity in worship service, to emotional excitement in worship.
Fading away like the stars of the morning, hymn singing is becoming obsolete, unless we revive and sustain it. Join us this Sunday...
