In March, the student, identified as Osato Edobor, was seen in a viral video among her peers singing the now-popular refrain, “Na your mama be this.” This was a direct rebuttal to the Master of Ceremonies, who had hailed the First Lady as “our mother” during her visit to Delta State as part of her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
Naija News House has learned that Osato, despite being a top-performing student since her admission into the school, failed her final examination under suspicious circumstances.A source familiar with the matter said: “The nurse who got into trouble for posting ‘Na our mama be dis o’ video just failed her final exam. She has been a brilliant, top-performing student from the very beginning.”
Recall that during the First Lady’s March visit to Delta, she was met with a cold reception from Delta State School of Nursing students, who resisted an attempt to brand her as the “mother of the nation”.Edobor, was related to the students’ trip to the event venue, where she gave a narration.
She said, “So we are on our way to Asaba to meet his excellency, Tinubu’s wife. Let me just switch to pidgin, we dey line o as if say we carry bomb, I no understand, make una no bomb Tinubu wife cos if not we would already bomb Tinubu wife o. They actually check our bag to see if we carry anything inside (We are in a queue but I don’t understand why they are checking us as if we plan to bomb Tinubu’s wife. We would have done it if we wanted to do it. They actually checked our bags).”
And while the nursing students were singing the nursing anthem, she jokingly said she didn’t know it was that long.
And regarding the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, she only said she could not remember his name, noting that she was not from Delta State.
“Look at the Delta State governor… uhmm, I don’t know his name, sorry guys, I’m not from Delta State,” she said.
She also commented on the students’ rejection of the First Lady as their mother, saying, “Oga, no be our mama — our mama dey house o.”
However, the Delta State government later intervened and directed the school provost to withdraw the query issued to Osato Edobor.
In a 33-second video, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, stated that the Delta State government did not intend to victimise any student.
Sources, however, say Osato Edobor’s recent exam failure is connected with the incident.
However, efforts obtain a response from the school’s Provost were unsuccessful, as she did not answer multiple phone calls and has not replied to follow-up messages sent via SMS and WhatsApp.
