JESUS SET YOU FREE
Text: John 8:32, 36 — “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free… If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.”
I. INTRODUCTION
Freedom is a divine gift, not a human achievement.
Many people think they are free, yet live in bo***ge—spiritual, emotional, or physical.
Jesus came not just to forgive sins, but to set captives free (Luke 4:18).
II. UNDERSTANDING TRUE FREEDOM
Freedom is not the absence of rules, but the presence of righteousness (Romans 6:18).
True freedom is deliverance from sin, guilt, and Satan’s dominion (Colossians 1:13).
The world offers counterfeit freedom—pleasure that ends in bo***ge (2 Peter 2:19).
III. AREAS WHERE JESUS SETS US FREE
Freedom from Sin – (Romans 6:22
Sin enslaves; Jesus breaks the power of sin.
Freedom from Fear – (2 Timothy 1:7)
Fear paralyzes; Jesus gives us peace and boldness.
Freedom from Sickness – (Isaiah 53:5, Matthew 8:17)
His stripes bring healing.
Freedom from Satanic Oppression – (Acts 10:38)
Jesus destroys every yoke of the devil.
Freedom from the Past – (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Old things are passed away; all things become new.
IV. HOW JESUS SETS YOU FREE
By His Word – “You shall know the truth…” (John 8:32)
By His Blood – (Revelation 12:11)
By His Spirit – “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)
By Faith – Accepting what He has done for you personally (Galatians 5:1).
V. HOW TO WALK IN YOUR FREEDOM
Stay in the Word – Freedom is maintained by the truth you live by.
Guard Your Mind – Don’t entertain thoughts of defeat or guilt.
Resist the Devil – Refuse to go back into bo***ge (James 4:7).
Fellowship with Believers – Freedom grows in godly community.
Live in Obedience – Obedience keeps the door of liberty open.
VI. CONCLUSION
Jesus has already paid the price for your freedom.
Don’t live like a prisoner when the door is open.
Declare daily: “I am free because Jesus set me free!”
CALL TO DECISION
If you are not yet free from sin, come to Jesus today.
He says, “Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
