METHODIST REFLECTION FOR TODAY
MONDAY 6th JUNE, 2022
THEME: BEAR NO GRUDGE
PASSAGE: MATTHEW 18:15-17
( Mat 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
Mat 18:16 But if he will not hear [thee, then] take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Mat 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell [it] unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.)

There is always a key point that underlies the principle of crisis management. That is, wherever you have at least two people living together, there must be misunderstandings. Put two goats in the same place, they will have issues and fight. Even twins from the same womb have disagreements. So, as long as there are relationships, there must be conflicts, but these conflicts must not lead to separation or bitterness.
Jesus is telling us here to always find a way of resolving anything that may be wrong between us and our fellow brethren. We must find every possible means of resolving any issue, and not to keep them. These seemingly small fracas or misunderstanding may obstruct our prayers and badly affect us spiritually.
Matt. 5:23-24 drives home the point that the Lord will reject your offering if you have anything against anyone. Keeping grudges may rob your ego, but it goes beyond you saying you have rights; it actually robs you of your peace and acceptance before the Lord.
Many of us (and even couples of many years) keep grudges. Some even open log books for writing offences committed by others. Do you know when the Lord shall come or when the end will come? It is very dangerous to keep malice or grudge.
