ACCESS & INFLUENCE

There’s a story of a marketplace leader who never made moves without first retreating with God. Monthly, he’d pull away to pray and listen. Then he’d step back into business and steward millions. He understood access to God and influence among men.

Friend, you were not saved just for church. Christ made us kings and priests for a reason (Revelation 1:6). A priest ministers to God for people. A king rules for God among people. As a child of God, you have both access and influence. Maximize your access to God and use your influence for God (Hebrews 5:1).

Your priesthood is the basis for your kingship. If you put your role in the world above your relationship with God, you would mess up divine purpose (Philippians 3:10-14). Authority flows from the altar. Daniel ruled first in prayer, then in politics. You cannot govern in public what you have not won in prayer (Psalm 110:4).

You need to live up to your true identity (Matthew 5:16). As a king, take responsibility. As a priest, hear God. Priesthood receives direction. Kingship profers solution. Hear God’s heart for your environment and world, then bring the answers (Proverbs 29:2). Don’t curse darkness. Install light.

Priests offer sacrifices. Kings make decisions and execute kingdom agenda (Ecclesiastes 8:4). Priests uphold righteousness. Kings do their work excellently. Your king-priest ordination is about having integrity when others cheat as well as diligence when others loaf (1 Corinthians 15:10). Your desk is an altar. Your "No” is worship.

The world does not need more critics. It needs king-priests who pray in secret and lead in public (Daniel 5:2, 6:3). Meet God in the morning. Then wear your crown at work, school, and everywhere. The creation still waits for the manifestation of the sons of God (Romans 8:19).

TUNE IN TO THE SPIRIT

I was riding in a car with a young man from our church recently. As we drove, I picked up a smell. I asked him, “Do you perceive any smell?” He said no. The smell grew so strong that we had to pull over and check. We found an oil leak. We fixed it before it got worse. Later, I told him, “When you drive, all your senses must be engaged.” The same is true for our journey of destiny.

Friend, you must learn to tune in to the Spirit if you don’t want to suffer shipwreck in the journey of destiny. Just as we have physical senses, we also have spiritual senses (Hebrews 5:14). Physical senses help us relate to the material world. Spiritual senses help us relate to the spiritual realm. The spiritual realm is more real than the physical (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

If you don’t develop your spiritual senses, you won’t engage that realm or benefit from it (Ecclesiastes 10:10). No one is born with fully developed physical senses. They mature with time and use. Our spiritual senses also develop with growth and use. But unlike physical senses, they require intentionality (1 Timothy 4:13-16).

Learn to feed your spirit. Always remember: you are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). The Word of God is food for your spirit. You cannot keep starving your spirit or feeding it junk and expect to have a robust spirit (Luke 1:80, 4:4). Be intentional about your feeding.

Studying Scripture and praying in the Holy Spirit are not just religious routines. The Word of God sharpens your discernment (Proverbs 27:17). Praying in the Spirit tunes you to the Holy Spirit’s voice and to activities in the spirit realm (1 Corinthians 2:9-14). A truly ignorant person is someone whose spiritual sensitivity is dull.

Don’t be spiritually illiterate (1 Corinthians 12:1, 2 Corinthians 2:11). Don’t let things happen around you without you knowing. Don’t wave off divine signals. Pay attention to your perception. Don’t joke with visions and revelations. Don’t silence the voice of your spirit (Acts 16:10-18). Pay prices to develop your spiritual senses. Tune in to the Spirit.
