TOPIC: SIN IS A PARASITE
Opening Statement
Sin is not just a mistake or weakness; sin is a parasite. A parasite lives in a body, feeds on it, weakens it, and eventually destroys it if not removed. In the same way, sin enters a person’s life quietly, feeds on their spiritual strength, damages their destiny, and leads to death if not dealt with.
Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death…”
1. WHAT IS A PARASITE?
A parasite:
Lives inside or on a host
Survives at the expense of the host
Weakens the host over time
Can eventually kill the host
Sin behaves exactly like this. It does not help you; it uses you.
Hebrews 12:1 – “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us…”
2. HOW SIN OPERATES LIKE A PARASITE
a. Sin Enters Quietly
Parasites often enter unnoticed. Sin begins as a “small” compromise.
Song of Solomon 2:15 – “Catch the little foxes…”
b. Sin Feeds on Your Strength
Sin drains:
Prayer life
Spiritual sensitivity
Moral strength
Peace and joy
Proverbs 14:12 – “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”
c. Sin Multiplies If Untreated
Parasites reproduce. One sin leads to another:
Lust leads to immorality
Greed leads to corruption
Anger leads to hatred
James 1:15 – “Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin… brings forth death.”
3. THE DAMAGE SIN CAUSES (EVIDENCE OF A PARASITE)
Spiritual weakness (Isaiah 59:2)
Broken fellowship with God
Delayed or destroyed destiny
Shame and guilt
Eternal consequences
John 10:10a – “The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy…”
4. WHY PEOPLE KEEP SIN (WHY PARASITES SURVIVE)
They enjoy temporary pleasure
They ignore the symptoms
They normalize sin
They delay repentance
Hebrews 11:25 – “The pleasures of sin for a season.”
5. HOW TO REMOVE THE PARASITE OF SIN
a. Acknowledge the Sin
You cannot heal what you hide.
1 John 1:9
b. Repent Genuinely
Repentance is a change of heart and direction.
Acts 3:19
c. Apply the Blood of Jesus.

RE-DEDICATE YOURSELF TO GOD THIS YEAR
Text: Romans 12:1–2; Joel 2:12–13; Revelation 2:4–5
Introduction
A new year is more than a change of date—it is a divine opportunity. God is calling His people not just to make resolutions, but to make re-dedications. Many of us started well, but along the way we became distracted, tired, or lukewarm. This year, God is saying:
“Return to Me.”
Re-dedication is not about condemnation; it is about restoration.
1. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO RE-DEDICATE YOURSELF TO GOD?
To re-dedicate means to give back to God what once belonged to Him—your heart, time, obedience, and devotion.
📖 Joel 2:12 –
“Return to Me with all your heart…”
Re-dedication is:
Returning from compromise
Renewing your love for God
Realigning your life with God’s will
It is saying again: “Lord, You are first.”
2. WHY MUST WE RE-DEDICATE OURSELVES?
a) Because many have grown cold
📖 Revelation 2:4 –
“You have left your first love.”
Busy schedules, sin, pressure, and worldliness have pushed God to the background.
b) Because yesterday’s commitment cannot sustain today
📖 Matthew 26:41 –
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
Each season requires fresh surrender.
c) Because God demands total devotion
📖 Romans 12:1 –
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice…”
God does not accept leftovers—He wants all of you.
3. HOW DO WE RE-DEDICATE OURSELVES TO GOD?
1. Through sincere repentance
📖 Proverbs 28:13
“He who confesses and forsakes… will obtain mercy.”
Not just feeling sorry, but turning away.
2. Through renewed prayer and fasting
📖 James 4:8
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
Prayer reconnects us to God’s presence.
3. Through obedience to God’s Word
📖 John 14:15
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
Love for God is proven by obedience.
4. Through separation from sin and ungodly influences
📖 2 Corinthians 6:17
“Come out from among them and be separate…”
You cannot walk with God while holding hands with sin.

1. We may make our plans, but God has the last word.
2. You may think everything you do is right, but the LORD judges your motives.
3. Ask the LORD to bless your plans, and you will be successful in carrying them out.
4. Everything the LORD has made has its destiny; and the destiny of the wicked is destruction.
5. The LORD hates everyone who is arrogant; he will never let them escape punishment.
6. Be loyal and faithful, and God will forgive your sin. Obey the LORD and nothing evil will happen to you.
7. When you please the LORD, you can make your enemies into friends.
8. It is better to have a little, honestly earned, than to have a large income, dishonestly gained.
9. You may make your plans, but God directs your actions.

Good day everyone. Have you heard or read of a man who established a zoo and made the entrance fee N50,000= but no one went there. He reduced it to N40,000= but still no one came. He then reduced the fee to N20,000= still people didn't come. Finally, he made it FREE entrance and soon, the zoo was filled with people. Then, he quietly locked the gate of the zoo, set the lions free and made the exit fee N150,000= and everyone paid.

MORAL

A. As you go about in life, beware of free offers.

i. Most of the time, they are big traps.

ii. Behind every free gift, there is high possibility of an ulterior motive.

iii. You may lose your life trying to get a free ride.

iv. You may lose all your money trying to get free airtime or free data.

B. Note that most promotions on the Internet, Facebook and WhatsApp platforms are big scams.

Today we live in a human society where there's no free lunch. The 'tat' you would give for the 'tit' you received could be too costly for you.

i. Avoid it. Why? Because every thing with value is valuable, it can never be actually or totally free!

Beloved, I declare this month, your month of divine assurance, in the name of the father, the son and the Holy Ghost. This second quarter of 2020, Mercy of God shall be your portion, His word, His name shall work for you, where you have been rejected before, you shall be celebrated. IJMN. The deadly peril of this time will not overcome you and your household, throughout this month, this year the mercy of God shall speak for you, you will not be a victim but a victor. IJMN.
