What if God left… and we didn't even notice?

It's possible to be in church, sing the songs, participate in praise and worship, hear the Word, and still lose sight of the very One we came to encounter.

Church was never meant to be entertainment.

Praise is not a performance.
Worship is not a show.
The Word is not simply something we listen to and forget.

We should leave the presence of God changed—thinking differently, living differently, and becoming more aligned with His purpose for our lives.

The question isn't simply, “Did I enjoy the service?”

Did I encounter God, and did that encounter change me?

What are you willing to sacrifice unto God?

“And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.”
-1 Kings 3:4 (KJV)

One of the lessons we learned from our just-concluded Youth Convention is that our walk with God will sometimes require us to give up what is valuable, comfortable, or convenient for the sake of His will.

Throughout Scripture, we see men and women who were willing to make sacrifices in their pursuit of God and His purposes.

Whether it is our time, resources, comfort, ambitions, talents, or convenience, the question is not simply, “What can I give God?”

But rather:

“What am I willing to sacrifice unto God?”

True excellence in our ministry, academics, work, leadership, and everyday lives begins when we understand that what we have is ultimately for His glory.
