LEGEND WEEK : Evangelist Deborah Adebola Fasoyin
She is popularly called Mama Fasoyin or Mama Odun N Lo Sopin because of her evergreen song.
About her
Born: 1st March 1940 in Oyo State
She is a very quiet, easy going woman of God and deeply religious
She is the Leader of the C.A.C Good Women Choir, Ibadan. The group became very popular in the late 70s, 80s and 90s across South-West Nigeria.
The Choir is based in Ibadan.

Her Music Career
:She became widely known in 1979when her group released the popular song Odun Nlo Sopin O, Baba Mimo" which became an instant hit.
That song was not their first album, it was their 5th album
Till date the choir has released 25 albums but Mama Fasoyin is the most famous for Odun Nlo Sopin.
Every December, all radio stations across South-West Nigeria play Odun Nlo Sopin to herald the end of the year.
She says she will sing till eternity. She doesn't like to be called old mama, she likes to be called "Sweet 16" or "Sisi mi". She said at 81: "I am not an old woman, I am a young girl"
Current Status:
- She is still alive. In March 2026 she celebrated her 86th birthday.
- In March 2026 there was a fake death rumour on Facebook with her picture and RIP, but her son Korede Fasoyin and her family debunked it and released a video that she is alive and hale and hearty.
She is one of the legends Nigerians can never forget because her song is sung in almost every church during crossover and end-of-year thanksgiving.
