A Spirit-Controlled Life
Every human life is influenced and controlled by a force—whether the Spirit of God or the desires of the flesh. The Bible makes it clear in Galatians 5:16-26 that a life led by the Spirit produces fruits of righteousness, while a life controlled by the flesh leads to corruption. Romans 8:16 reminds us that "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." If we claim to belong to Christ, then submission to the Holy Spirit must be our daily pursuit.
The battle between the Spirit and the flesh is ongoing. The flesh is a dictator, always seeking dominance, while the Spirit calls us to surrender to God's will. 1 Corinthians 2:12-16 highlights the necessity of spiritual discernment, stating that "the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God." A Spirit-controlled life is one that has crucified the desires of the flesh, allowing the Holy Spirit to take full control. Without this, even the works we do in the name of God become meaningless.
True transformation happens only when we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us. A believer who is governed by the Spirit walks in power, reflects Christ, and bears fruit that glorifies God. Discipleship is not merely about church attendance or religious activities; it is about yielding daily to the Spirit’s guidance. If the voice of the Spirit is louder than the voice of the flesh in your life, that is the voice you will obey.
