I want to thank God for my father in the Lord. I want to thank God for a man who can hear from God, because if he didn't hear from God, I won't be here. He heard from God.

Of all the people that could become the general overseer, I am the least qualified. I mean, the church started in 1952, I came in 1973. Two years after I came, you ordained me a pastor. That's not done in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. The day he was ordaining me pastor here, in that little building over there, the man that was anointed before me had been in the church for 50 years.

When he called me, and said he was going to ordain me, my wife and I, we fasted for 14 days that God would not allow it to happen. Oh, yes. Who wants you to be a pastor? In those days, at least in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, to become a pastor is to be sentenced to p0verty, plain language.

And I had been poor. I had been in poverty for the first 18 years of my life. No pair of shoes. Then I struggled and struggled. I finished university education. I became a lecturer in the university. Now, at least when I joined the church, my car, which was second-hand, was the newest car in the church out of the 5 cars. At least it's the only one you don't have to push before it runs. And then suddenly somebody is now talking about me becoming a pastor.

We prayed and fasted, my wife and I. Like God didn't answer that prayer. Thank God he didn't.

When my father in the Lord told me I would be succeeding him, not that God had not told me himself—we'll talk a little bit about that later—I told him, "No, it's not going to happen."

He said, "God told him."

I said, "Talk to him again." Anyone he chooses for you, I will support the fellow, 100%. But for me, to leave the little comfort I have and become—uh, I mean, you may not understand. I was acting head of department at the University of Mathematics at the University of Learning.

My boy's porch has a load, has 4 bedrooms. Because in Learning those days, there were houses nobody could live in back there. Not bad. And then they gave me a guest quarter, 2-bedroom bungalow, so that would tell you what the main house was like. To leave that and come and live in one room in Mushin? I said, "God f0rbid."

I was an usher in our church in the village, and there was this master's degree holder in mathematics in that church. After fellowshipping in church, he also has another fellowship at the beer parlor. He used to sneak to drink star. When an investigation was conducted why his life is schizophrenic, he has two identities: one in church and the other one in the beer parlor.

We discovered that he was so good in mathematics that he wrote books in every strange aspect of mathematics, and they were all manuscripts, but he could not publish one. He's been attempting and failing, and attempting and failing. Then he discovered that the fellowship over a bottle of star has the potency of making him forget his numerous failures.

The Bible says oppression makes what?

So our pastor now discovered, and you know what our pastor did? He took one of the books and he went and published it, and he didn't tell him. When the books came out, he called him. He said,

"See your books."

Do you know that when that man saw those books, he stopped drinking? Do you know that Kogi State Government Ministry of Education endorsed those books?

The man broke mathematics down that even people that were cur$ed, they read the book and they passed by it. So each book he had in his archive was a ɓ0⁰mb. It's a mathematics deliverance b⁰0mɓ. But he himself, as wise as he was, could not translate it from manuscript to book. He missed something there. And the many, many more times he attempted and faịled, there was a scar on his soul until he didn't attempt again.

He found a green bottle and married himself to it.

There are many people living a life that is a lie, not because God has not endowed them. There is a spirit called oppr€ssion that has made them m@d. But the Bible says, "How God anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth."

His first book was a bestseller. So if people are going to SS1, they must buy his book, because his book is a compendium from SS1 to SS3, and it breaks mathematics down so clearly. He wrote in business math. He wrote books in math statistics. He broke statistics down. Three of his books were bestsellers. And when those books were published, this man, his status changed. Meanwhile, those books were not written today.

Some of them were written after his first degree, and he kept the manuscript. He wrote some. He wrote so many things. The thing is there, but the ability to translate it was a challenge. He went looking for women, looking. He didn't find what it was. The temporary relief he had was with the star bottle.

I don't know what life oppression has made you accept, because you have failed for so long. You have decided to adopt that life as, "Yeah, this is where I can survive like this."

God did not call you to manage. He didn't call you to get by. He has a plan for you, and that's why he formulated the anointing. The carriers of this Grace will be instruments through which the body of oppr€ssion might be broken from the lives of men. So opprẹ̀ssion has the capacity to turn down the power of potential.

You think it's about oratory? I did oratory for 13 years. The worst part was when I bagged my master's degree. That time, if I want to preach, I would add chemistry. I would be preaching, I would be talking about quantum mechanics, because I did one of the h@r̃dest parts of chemistry. I would be talking about the mysteries of light, the laws of theoretical physics. I was talking— I loved mysteries those days. I would come, I would talk to you about the angelic realm. I would talk about the mysteries that govern the heavenly operation. I would tell you about the 12th civilization of heaven. But when I preached, my honorarium was 2,000.

I was preaching in one location for 13 years, until I understood that this thing is God that makes men. So I shut down. I began to pray. I began to pray. And when I was praying, I was not receiving answers. As I prayed, what I was receiving were laws. God was introducing me to all kinds of laws because He was chiseling my soul so that He can conduct Himself. I didn't know that pride, arrogance, had ch0ked every chamber of my soul that the energy of God should flow through.

I was speaking English, but I was not speaking spirit and life. Jesus said,

"The words I speak to you, they are spirit and life."

The chambers of my soul were clawed. Pride, imm0.rality, lust— everything was there. I would be preaching, and I would look at someone, something will happen in my mind. This girl is fine. I didn't know what was going on. All of those things were impeding the flow of life. So when I began to pray, I now saw dimensions of prayer that were more than answers. I saw there is a dimension of prayer called reward.

Jesus said, "When you pray in secret, your heavenly Father that sees in secret will reward you." He didn't say He will answer your prayers. I saw that reward was bigger than answers to prayer. The things I was praying for— I was praying for invitations, but I didn't see answers. I was receiving rewards. And rewards came as laws. The Holy Ghost put laws. Sometimes I go to a place, I labor, they will appreciate others and forget me. I would go back and crƴ. After a long time, it became normal. What I didn't know was that long suff€ring had been activated in my soul.

The last one that happened, my friend and I were living together. Both of us were sons of Apostle Arome Osayi. He is a good guy. He didn't do this thing to intim!date me, but God was moving him. And what he did was that I was a master's degree— a graduate that had a master's degree. This guy was an undergraduate. He was a pastor of a youth church. I was to be ordained a pastor in one of the global churches in this country because I was charismatic. God told me to join Him.

When I went to Him, the guy went and put me in the ushering department. And He told me,

"In this church, we grow by rank."

I said, "What do you mean? Me and you are Apostle Arome's sons. Am I coming to your church to grow?"

As I wanted to say it, the Holy Ghost vanished my mouth like this.

I did it for 1 year 8 months. That was when I discovered I was very arr0gant. Because it's an honor to sweep the house of God, regardless of who you are. I didn't know all of those blessings. But when God was done teaching me, God now came to me and said, "This year I will begin to announce you."

The word was casual. I didn't fall under the power. What did He say? "This year I will begin to announce you."

On my birthday, He said, "Cut 6 of your clip." The same old messages that have lasted, that didn't work. He said,

"Cut 6 of those clip and put on Telegram."

I now cut it. My friend, a young man who wouldn't let me rest, Samson Osuli, he came and collected it. And he tagged it "Puritan capsules." And he dropped it online. In 14 days, I received invitations from 17 nations. 14 days was more important than 13 years, because His spirit was sitting on the voice.

The first year I married my wife, on her birthday, out of sacrifice, I pleaded with her that somebody of importance wants me to preach for him. I flew to Asaba, drove 7 hours from Asaba to go for the meeting.

When I arrived, I asked, "When am I coming?" They said, "Don't worry, oga said you should not come."

"Why?"

They said somebody told him something.

I missed my wife's birthday, I paid for my flight, I drove 7 hours. People have told them that I should never be given platforms.

I drove back the next day, flew back home. I didn't even tell her because she couldn't bear the disappointment, but I knew there are adversaries.

They put me on the flyer and called me back and said, "That meeting, please don't worry, next time."

I said, "What's going on?"

That was when one prophet called me and said there are people going around telling people wrong things about you, that they shouldn't invite you. So they wanted to shut my doors. You know what I did? I called ranking people. Because you know in this kingdom, you may not be able to stop people from talking, but you can make their voices usel€ss.

When Ahitofel wanted to f!ght David, the Bible said if Ahitofel gives a counsel, it's like the voice of God. When David heard that Ahitofel had joined Absalom, David knew he was finished. So David moved. He goes into prayer. You know what happened? Ahitofel was still talking, but there was a prayer David prayed. He said,

"Lord, make the counsel of Ahitofel to become usel€ss."

You know what happened? Ahitofel k!l|ǝd himself. So till today, the people are still talking, but their voice have become usel€ss.

You know what happened? The doors that began to open were higher than the ones that closed. I was supposed to go to England when they called me from the office of the general overseer of RCCG. They said they want you to preach. I said, "Okay, maybe he's not going to be around."

When I came, they said, "Papa, is coming."
Man of God sat down. Patriarch sat down. And I stood. I was blazing like fire. Oh, you don't know God. I was roaring. I was roaring like a flame. See, the crowd that gathered. When I finished, over 3,000 gave their lives to Christ. But I came out of a warfare.

There was a great and effectual door. There were adversaries, but intercession disarmed them.

You think you will rise by luck? Nobody rises by luck. If you want to rise, you will f!ght. We rise by power. We rise by b@ttles. We rise by w@r. I'm telling you.

When I was in school, I would—well, we are doing fellowship, we used to have vigils—I would carry my books to the fellowship hall. We would pray from 10, 11, 12, and when it's getting to 2, I would disappear somewhere and I'm reading. Others are screaming, "Rapapapapapa" We have exam in 2 weeks, "Lepekepelepe..." And that's how they lepelepelepe till they fa!lǝɗ

If you did mass communication, you would know there's a particular course called graphics. When I started my first English mass communication, there was a lecturer that lectured us graphic. Sometimes they can make—they can add graphics to television. Sometimes, television is also a course on its own.

Now, the man who lectured us graphics was an antichrist. I hope he's not alive now. He was quite elderly, dædly human. He would come to the class and be like,

"Abuse Christians, abuse Christians, abuse Christians."

That's not part of the course. You know, if you abuse Christians, everybody will be holding themselves. The other people are carrying the Bible. He would abuse all of us.

So one day he was abusing, abusing, and my body was biting me, and I raised my hand.

"So what do you have to say?"

I said, "Sir, I will show you respect. Get out."

Everybody in the class kept quiet.

He said, "What did you say?"

I said, "Get out."

You know, it's just one person to start a ri0t on. That was when I knew that we had stubb0rn Christians too. Another Christian said, "Yes, sir, no offence."

He said, "Yes, it's very clear, sir. Get out."

Another one, "Get out."

So when they called all of us, they called all of us, the senates of the institution called all of us and said, "They are not going to—" They were too many. The riot was too many. If you pun!sh everybody, you just close down that class. So they needed to pun!sh who initiated it.

So before then, when I was saying "Get out," the man called—he said, "What's your name?" I mentioned. He said I should come forward.

He said what's my matric number. I told him. He wrote it down. He said, "You have already faịled."

I said, "No problem, sir, but I can't fail."

So we left the class. They called me for a panel. So I had to add a lot of evidence. We said the man was throwing shades at us.

They said, "What do you mean shade? Did he call your name?"

I said, "That's what they call innuendo." When you're talking to people indirectly.

I said, "Sir, in English."

They said, "What specific way can you say he abused you?"

I said, "Innuendo." And the panel burst into laughter.

I said, "He was indirectly talking to us."

So they said we should go, but he should deal with it his own way.

Now, this man—let me tell you what we did. I started reading because I was not permitted to attend his class. Anytime you come to class, they say, "Where is Johnson Suleiman?" He will say "Get out."

I received so many "Get out" that semester.

So when they finish, I will ask, "What did he lecture?" They will tell me.

I will read. I read. I read. I went to the library. I got their book. I told myself, "I will not just pass this man's exam. I will be embarrassed."

Then, in school, it's not now you can—no, no. If somebody fa!ls you, you can summon him. It's not now anybody can just tell you, "You failed." No. If somebody fa!ls you, and you know what you wrote, you will carry him to the panel. You will say, "I want my script. Let the panel give me my script." If the script is missing, that means it's deliberate. Not now that people don't know their right now.

So I read.

Now, this is what I did. The man did an exam, and he said out of 7 questions we had to answer only 4. And you know those questions are pregnant. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

So as soon as I prayed, I waited on the Lord, I fasted. When I got to the hall, it was 7 questions, answer only 4. I answered the 7. I said,

"Please, sir, mark only 4."

But I wanted to embarrass them. I answered the 7. I said, "Mark only 4."

So I did the exam in 12 minutes. My head was done. I was just writing, writing. Everything I studied was what he brought out. So when I stood up, he said,

"Why is this man standing? Why is this man standing?" I said, "I'm done."

"You are done what?"

I said, "I finished your exam."

And I gave him the script. So he looked at it. He said, "Wow. So this means my questions are weak, right?" Everybody submit.

The slap I received that day ehn... Oh my God. That slap from classmates.

"Oversabi, you finished? Why didn't you sit down? Id!0t. Id!0t. If I fail..."

Another slap, boah...

"That's not your job to be doing. Why didn't you sit down? Is it time yet? Is it time?"

So what am I saying? Action.

I didn't fast and pray to pass. I had to study. I wish I'm saying something here.
