Proverbs 6:1-35
[1]ỌMỌ mi, bi iwọ ba ṣe onigbọwọ fun ọrẹ́ rẹ, bi iwọ ba jẹ́ ẹ̀jẹ́ fun ajeji enia.
My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
[2]Bi a ba fi ọ̀rọ ẹnu rẹ dẹkùn fun ọ, bi a ba fi ọ̀rọ ẹnu rẹ mu ọ.
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
[3]Njẹ, sa ṣe eyi, ọmọ mi, ki o si gbà ara rẹ silẹ nigbati iwọ ba bọ si ọwọ ọrẹ́ rẹ; lọ, rẹ ara rẹ silẹ, ki iwọ ki o si tù ọrẹ́ rẹ.
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
[4]Máṣe fi orun fun oju rẹ, tabi õgbe fun ipenpeju rẹ.
Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
[5]Gbà ara rẹ bi abo agbọnrin li ọwọ ọdẹ, ati bi ẹiyẹ li ọwọ apẹiyẹ.
Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
[6]Tọ ẽrùn lọ, iwọ ọlẹ: kiyesi iṣe rẹ̀ ki iwọ ki o si gbọ́n:
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
[7]Ti kò ni onidajọ, alabojuto, tabi alakoso.
Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
[8]Ti npese onjẹ rẹ̀ ni igba-ẹ̀run, ti o si nkó onjẹ rẹ̀ jọ ni ìgba ikore.
Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
[9]Ọlẹ, iwọ o ti sùn pẹ to? nigbawo ni iwọ o dide kuro ninu orun rẹ?
How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
[10]Orun diẹ si i, õgbe diẹ si i, ikawọkòpọ lati sùn diẹ:
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
[11]Bẹ̃ni òṣi rẹ yio de bi ẹniti nrìn àjo, ati aini rẹ bi ọkunrin ti o hamọra ogun.
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
[12]Enia-kenia, ọkunrin buburu, ti o nrìn ti on ti ẹnu arekereke.
A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
[13]O nṣẹju rẹ̀, o nfi ẹsẹ rẹ̀ sọ̀rọ, o nfi ika rẹ̀ ṣe ajuwe;
He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
