REFLECTION
28-MAY-2026 Readings
In today’s reading, Peter reminds us that as God’s chosen people, we are called to grow in holiness and spiritual maturity. We are living stones, being built into a spiritual house with Christ as the cornerstone. Once without mercy, now we have received it, and so our lives must reflect God’s light to the world. By living uprightly, even among those who doubt or accuse us, we bring glory to God through our good works.

The Psalm invites us to serve the Lord with gladness and joyful praise. We belong to Him—His flock, His creation—and His faithful love endures through every generation.

In the GOSPEL, Bartimaeus’s persistence in faith shows how God listens to those who call out from the heart. Though others tried to silence him, he cried louder, and Jesus responded with healing. His restored sight became both physical and spiritual—a symbol of renewed faith. We, too, are invited to cry out to Christ with trust, to rise when He calls, and to follow Him in the light of life.

GOSPEL Mark 10:46-52

At that time: As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great multitude, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, " Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" And Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." And they called the blind man, saying to him, "Take heart; rise, he is calling you." And throwing off his mantle he sprang up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said to him, "What do you want me to do for you?" And the blind man said to him, "Master, let me receive my sight." And Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way.

Beloved: Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up to salvation; for you have tasted the kindness of the Lord. Come to him, to that living stone, rejected by men but in God's sight chosen and precious; and like living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Once you were no people but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy but now you have received mercy. Beloved, I beg you as aliens and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh that wage war against your soul. Maintain good conduct among the Gentiles, so that in case they speak against you as wrongdoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

REFLECTION
27-MAY-2026 Readings
In today’s reading, St. Peter reminds us that we were not redeemed with gold or silver but with the precious blood of Christ, the spotless Lamb. This gift of salvation calls us to live differently—to love sincerely, to act purely, and to place our full hope in God. We are born again through His living Word, which endures forever, even when all else fades.

The Psalm praises God who strengthens His people, blesses their homes, and fills them with peace and abundance. His Word runs swiftly, bringing life and guidance to those who keep His commands.

In the GOSPEL, Jesus reveals that true greatness in God’s kingdom is found in humble service. While others seek power and recognition, the Son of Man chose the path of sacrifice, giving His life for many. He calls us to do the same—to serve rather than to be served, to love rather than to dominate. Our discipleship, then, is measured not by how high we rise, but by how deeply we serve in love.

GOSPEL Mark 10:32-45

At that time: The disciples were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them; and they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. And taking the twelve again, he began to tell them what was to happen to him, saying, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to d3ath, and deliver him to the Gentiles; and they will mock him, and spit upon him, and scourge him, and k1ll him; and after three days he will rise." And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came forward him, and said to him, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you." And he said to them, "What do you want me to do for you?" And they said to him, "Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory." But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?" And they said to him, "We are able." And Jesus said to them, "The cup that I drink you will drink; and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized; but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared." And when the ten heard it, they began to be indignant at James and John. And Jesus called them to him and said to them, "You know that those who are supposed to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Beloved: You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was destined before the foundation of the world but was made manifest at the end of the times for your sake. Through him you have confidence in God, who raised him from the d3ad and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart. You have been born anew, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for "All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord abides for ever." That word is the good news which was preached to you.
