BABES IN THE WOODS
ANCHOR TEXT: Eph 4:14-15a No prolonged infancies among us,
please. We’ll not tolerate babes in the woods, small children who are an easy mark for impostors. God wants us to grow up.
In our union with Christ, we are seen in the
spirit realm as one person, Christ being the
Head and we being the Body of Christ. Christ is
perfect, but His Body (the church) needs to
grow. Here is how growth happens: “we are to
grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head,
even Christ, from whom the whole body, being
fitted and held together by what every joint
supplies, ACCORDING TO THE PROPER
WORKING of each individual part, causes the
growth of the body…” (Eph 4:15-16 NASB) There
is such a thing as “the proper working of each
individual part” which causes growth. There’s a
proper, appropriate and acceptable way to serve
God.
These aren’t days to refuse growing up in
Christ. You’re not Simon; you’re Peter. You’re
not a reed in need; you’re a rock of relief (Mat
16:18). You’re not a reed in the wind or w**d in
water, tossed to and fro by every wave of
doctrine (Luke 7:24, Jam 1:6). You’re not a
shooting star – you’re an enduring light (Dan
12:3). You’re not a flash in the pan; you’re Salt
of the earth and Light of the world (Mat
5:13-14). You’re not a piece of trash/ridicule –
you’re God’s masterpiece (Eph 2:10). You’re not
an alien to the covenants of promise; you’re a
citizen of the Kingdom (Eph 2:12). It was okay
to have started as a small child but now it’s
time to grow, to learn, and to serve (1 Cor
13:11). You’re not the devil’s toothpick; you
exist to destroy his works (1 John 3:8). You’re
NOT a prey for wolves or a babe in the woods.
So, grow.
CONFESSION: I am growing in God earnestly,
steadily and speedily. The devil cannot take
advantage of me because I am growing in the reality of my Kingdom rights (2 Cor 2:11).
PRAYER: Father, help me grow in wisdom and strength, in favour with God and men (Luke
2:52). I am serving to the point of reward this
year, in Jesus’ name.
